What I find most depressing is that Sarah didn’t have to die. She wasn’t bit, her leg was just crushed. The soldier shot her anyways with only little empathy. It wasn’t an infected that got her, it was a human.
I feel like the soldier has empathy, considering he wanted to disobey his orders. But it shows the horrible things the government is willing to do in order to slow the spread of the infection.
It's so depressing but it sets up Joel's character so well. If she'd been bitten in the chase or something, he would've never forgiven himself, I'm doubtful he would be around 20 years later. The fact that she was killed for no reason gives him all the justification to hate the world and even deprive it of a cure (how effective that would even be is another question). It's also horrifyingly accurate, the soldier is "just following orders" and not letting his personal judgement decide.
The soldier did have empathy. He tried to protest against his commander when ordered to shoot Joel and Sarah. Then as he raised his gun, he was shaking his head (Edit: he does that in the original but for some reason doesn't do it in the remake). He was definitely remorseful about it.
The sewer sequence was my favorite story portion. if you go through out the whole level picking up the notes there is a whole other story about a dude that is from the boat on the outside.; it continues into the town and it shows how much detail this went in.
Tess and Joel have a relationship that’s alluded to being more than just a partnership. Bill almost says as much when the J&E meet up with him later. Frank and Tess are also thematic mirrors of each other, which reinforces the “more than friends” theory. I think Joel and Tess are just so battle hardened they can’t allow themselves to really let their emotions out, but Tess admits as much when she stays behind to fight the soldiers when she says (paraphrasing) “if this meant anything more to you…” in reference to their relationship.

I like to believe that Joel’s watch wasn’t cracked from the fall, but the watch blocking a bullet hitting Joel’s wrist. That watch is a constant reminder of his failure to protect Sarah.
I'm glad you were able to discuss a masterpiece without over looking some flaws (plot armor, dialogue continuity, inconsistent characterization, etc.) It really adds value so it's not just a multi hour rant praising it's perfection. On another note I love the vocabulary, "blicky" "beams" etc the minor comedic moments where a serious scene is described with these words is a nice touch in terms of entertainment.
I don't think there's ever been a game that has been (or ever will be) perfect, but there have been masterpieces. TLOU is one of them, even though there are a few issues.
Been replaying this game, again, and still finding small details I’ve never noticed before. The one I’ve seen and now notice every time is when I stealth attack an enemy and start to choke them out, their eyes become red and bloodshot. A small tidbit but just makes me appreciate the game that much more.
I’m here after the watching the first episode of last of us and you truly capture every emotion and love I have for this story, thank you. Hearing you talk with so much love about this game gives me so much comfort ( finna add this video to my comfort playlist )
Oh come on bro you were 4 seconds away from 2 hours! LOL I'd love this video! It's so hard to get my wife into these types of games and she knows about this specific game because of me but I sent her this video to listen to and she's hooked, it's so easy for her to understand why I care so much about these characters because of this video specifically in the way you break things down and show certain scenes and they are heaviness, this was freaking awesome man great job!
The opening scene makes me cry every time. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it. Joel saying “don’t do this to me baby don’t do this..” and then crying just makes me so sad. Especially after playing the game and watching part 2.. Joel deserved so much better..
@@ems8717 taking precautions to make sure that anyone random they come across who is potentially infected doesn’t breach whatever zones they started setting up
Omg. When Joel was about to be shot in the beginning and says “Please, don’t” it’s exactly what Ellie said right before he was killed in the second game 😢
This is such a great in depth analysis of the game. I like that you didn’t just praise, but also point out some of the inherent flaws, that comes with a game this massive. If you ever want to do a four hour video on both games (or any games, like silent hill for example) I’d watch the hell out of it!
Some things that were missed on the video or that I had an opinion on bugged me enough to write this comment: 1. 10:31 After beginning credits Joel wakes up and it could be deduced that he was drinking the night before. This together with him waking up to a nightmare and Tess saying "You wanted to be left alone remember?" and the text 20 years later could imply that it was the 20 year anniversary of the death of Sarah. 2. 27:15 The fireflies are quite a large group that has been around since the first years of the outbreak so it isn't unbelievable that many doctors would have ended up, and even seeked to get into a group that is trying to find a cure. 3. 1:02:48 The humvee isn't necessarily or even probably following the group but is returning to home base or some outpost of theirs as the bandits with the mounted sniper and the humvee are for sure the same group. 4. 1:26:41 Here Ellie did try to get the keys to escape as any other option looked to be worse. Joel also isn't just fine as even the controls while playing him are slower and feel more sluggish. It is also implied along the story that Joels questioning tactics aren't anything new to him as him and Tommy have been doing all kinds of bad stuff during the 20 years. 5. Joel's end decision might have been weighed by how incompetent the fireflies have turned out to be. Marlene losing almost all of her group, multiple moves and the quick choice to immediately perform the surgery. He might have also been weighing if the world even was worth saving after all they both had encountered. Still it clearly wasn't an easy choice as seen by Joel's reaction in the elevator and after shooting Marlene. Awesome video and it is great that people still make videos of this game.
About the 5th point, I always wondered what if Fireflies for a second acknowledged the struggle Joel and Ellie made to reach them, be more human, spoken to them about the progress they made in finding the cure, the vision they had, and use Force only as the last resort.
Definitely. Plus they were just plain stupid, there's nothing they would have gotten from carving out her brain that they wouldn't have gotten from a spinal tap. Joan was 100% in the right imo
@@ikramqazi5492One thing that bothered me was that they were ready to take Ellie’s brain out and kill her because it could possibly lead to a cure, there was never a guarantee it would work, and they could have ran some tests on Ellie’s blood or taken samples from the growth on her arm first but they just jumped all the way to taking her brain out.
@@lilylilyfofilly yea that always made me side with Joel. If you have a human subject that "holds the key to finding a cure" then killing her is literally the last thing you would want to do. Like just putting aside the fact that in 2022 we still do not have the capability to create a vaccine for fungal infections.
Dude this is by far one of the best review videos I have seen when reviewing the game love how you point of the attention to detail and the emotions within each cutscenes and sometimes even just sentences 10/10 keep it up.
Would love if they made a game exploring parts of Joel and Tommy's survival in that 20 year gap. Playing through the hectic early years of the outbreak, the extents of what they did to survive, how ruthless Joel in particular would have been, etc. Would be siiick
This makes anybody wish that Sara had survived longer further into the game to get to know other people that Joel comes across further into the game's journey down the road
I was about halfway through this video and checked out some comments, then your channel and I was just completely shocked when I saw your subscriber count. You deserve so much more success.
This is the greatest game of all time. It means so much to me and I wouldn’t be the same person I am today if I didn’t experience this masterpiece. You reviewed it perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to make this review I can tell how much passion and effort was put into this video.
I just have to have a pause for a moment here. Your intro inadvertantly answered the question you posed. It inspired you to pursue something, a video game did that. Forget the praise the game gets, that alone speaks volumes. Sometimes I wonder if we get transfixed in looking for some sort of 10/10, once in a lifetime gem that needs to be held in the highest regard and forget that these type of games are meant to elicit something and for so many it has. Speaking for myself I know it has.
god this video is fucking amazing. huge applause to you man. I know this story so well but it never gets old so seeing it ripped apart and critiqued like this was great. I'd love to see this style of video with the second game.
1:26:50 I’ve seen a few other people make this comment but Joel is definitely not completely fine when he wakes up. You can imagine he’s been resting for awhile and he did get a dose of antibiotics after all. Waking up seeing Ellie gone clearly got his adrenaline going. His dad side kicked in. A parent will push through whatever for their kid.
@@ImGardenGnome Would love a video analysis for part 2 if you’re up for it. I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I certainly have my own many gripes with the game. I played it for Ellie and was thoroughly disappointed-… but there’s still a lot to talk about!

Great video, dude! Seeing you had less than 500 subscribers was a surprise, the production value on this is crazy. Around the 48:20 mark, I was waiting for you to talk about the QTE to then have to sprint to save Ellie from the bandit wrestling with her. That was a real defining moment for me. The rush and anger I felt steamrolling towards that bandit, and the relief I felt afterwards? In that sequence, I knew for sure Joel was growing attached because I sure was! Hoping more success comes your way, man. We need those subs up up. Amazing work!
I haven’t been on a PlayStation console since the PS2 & PSP. So, circa 2005ish, I think. I’m obsessed with this storyline. So glad it came out in a PC-based format. The HBO series & these videos are going to eat up hundreds of hours once I get this game, & I couldn’t be happier! Thanks for a great dissection of a masterpiece of immersive art! based on
i watched this to unwind and relax, didn't expect to get through 45 mins of it and ended up getting through the whole thing in one go, so you've earned a sub! your video was really entertaining and i really enjoyed how you covered even tiny details that make the game that much better and more immersive, while still being able to criticise it for its faults.
just watching this after seeing the new teaser trailer for the show. I thought the song they used was fitting but i just realized it’s from the cutscene after ellie and joel leave Bills town!! that’s such a cool easter egg
From 2012 to 2022 I had stopped playing games all together. The 360 was the last modern console I had. Then in late 2022, I decided to get back into gaming after not doing so for 10 years. I dived into nostalgic gaming first, n64, ps1 etc. then Decided to get something more “modern” lol. And got a ps3 so I could play all my retro games with ease on it. I got my ps3 from a whatnot auction and the guy threw in a copy of the last of us for supporting his channel. I was so excited to play this game. It was gonna be my first “modern” for me game I had played since the 2012. That whole first act with Sarah, Joel and Tommy as it fades from pre apocalyptic to post apocalyptic, that did it. I was hooked after that and I didn’t set the game down for hours. I beat the game in a matter of days, and then decided to play it again on a a harder difficulty about a month later because all the games I was trying to play simply couldn’t compete. I’ve played the last of us pt1 from start to finish 3 times now and have simply accepted that playing another game as good as this one isn’t going to happen. I did acquire a ps4 and played through pt 2, and though it wasn’t as good as the first one, I did really enjoy it. I know alot of controversy surrounded it, but I think naughty dog did the best they could for raising the bar so high on pt. 1 and creating an absolute…..masterpiece.
I tear up every single time I watch Sarah die. This time it was the little hand prints from where she was reaching for Joel. Man. Truly a game that will never be topped.
I’m 23, I played the first game when I was 13. I sobbed my eyes out multiple times in this game but especially in that opening scene and rewatching it 10 years later made me sob just as much. This game has not diminished one bit in how much it means to me in the past decade. Your review was amazing and made me want to play the games for a 8th or 9th time.
i have to subscribe. maybe i’m just a sucker for anything TLOU related and extremely long videos. there’s something about the way you speak is so comforting and familiar, while listening i feel as though i’m listing to a close friend converse. as someone who talks a lot, and talks even more when talking about my interests, i love the length and the depth of this video. as you can tell i’m already rambling lol. anyways, amazing video, so glad you included flaws within the game as well, and i hope i can watch you and your channel thrive !
I feel like 10 years later, we have learned that Joel was probably justified in his choice, seeing as half the people would have probably just not taken the cure regardless
You said it. I literally put the controller down, clapped. Sat for a few moments not saying a word, and said out loud.. "what the f did I just play" with a tear in my eye. No cap....
Ever since FF7 I have never felt in awe of a game, until TLOU. I will always treasure these games. I still have the original hard copy of the FF7 and the hard copy of TLOU from 10 years ago.
I keep coming back to watch parts of this til I finish it and man Ellie’s face after Joel tells her “you’re right, you’re not my daughter, and I sure as hell ain’t your dad” and it hits so much harder being able to see the true disappointment in her face
Man I just couldn't help myself and snagged this up... wow all I have to say those graphics are insane there's so much detail in everything and the audio is amazing lol I couldn't believe how polished this is. I was skeptical at first but wow 😆
I started playing this when released, also laughed at the "hardcore drugs" comment, even told my buddy that was sitting with me how Sara's smart-ass reminded me of my daughter. Got to the end of the intro....powered off the game, gave it to him, never played it again. I watched one of the "TLOU the movie" videos on youtube. Brilliant story, but it was way easier for me to stomach by being non interactive. Still constantly cracks my top 5 game list, and I never played it. That's a special game.
I think your videos need to be longer. What you have to say is great, but I can feel that you have much more that you want to add. You have great perspectives, and in my opinion to fully appreciate that, you should embrace a longer video where you can dissect every moment. I do not think it would hurt to experiment with a 4 or even 5 hour video, especially considering your content I'm sure would fill it comprehensively. Much love.
Thanks man 😌 I think the reason I’m scared to do 4 hour videos is because of the amount of pages I’d have to write for it lol. I’ll think about it though :).
ive been playing games for around 11 years now, and i have to say after playing part 1 and part 2 last week , i can say this is the best game ive ever played and it is an absolute master peice, cant wait to see how TLOU 3 comes out.
1:15:00, not only that but Joel telling Ellie that she doesn't know what loss is was a low blow. She obviouly does not have any parents or other family, and to my knowledge, she has not discussed with him her family situation. She could have witnessed her family turning or something. Of course we know that isn't true, but I doubt he knew that.
i read a comment about that moment that gives you a diferent perspective on thing, Joel lost more than just Sarah, he lost his world, lost his home, lost his lifestyle, lost the relative safety of his old life, lost the chance of going to a restaurant to eat, everything.
I think one of the most surprising things when I rewatched the game years later was how smooth the transitions were between moments, cutscenes, and in game dialogue. Although some parts were pretty simple, think that allowed for the game to not get overcomplex like it did with the sequel. The TV show I was surprised that I wasn't as invested or sad and it seems to be falling into the same overcomplex issues again
I dont know if its ever been said or pointed out but i only just now noticed his watch got broken the moment his daughter got shot and died... i thought it was maybe during a random event later in his life. Im guessing the watch's time is stuck also at the moment his daughter died then.
55:55 was not plot armour. Henry hesitates during the fight with Joel because he sees Ellie and realizes Joel isn't the bad guy. This allows Joel to get the upper hand. Not plot armour.
Great video, i played the PS3,PS4 remastered and have yet to play PT1 i will as i have bought the game already just havent had the time. This game was truly amazing, and be one of the best games ever made from story to gameplay.
Yo, loving the content. Even when you say you‘re a sad guy, your enthusiastic manner is contagious. I would make the thumbnail text bigger though to capitalize more on your titles
The way that you made this video is actually pretty funny. Most people review this game with a lot of seriousness and they act like they're reading for an audio book or something, but you just say it straight up the way you want to with a lot of vulgarity and whatnot. Its pretty funny tbh

Just wanted to say excellent video. The amount of work and effort you put into this is noticeable and much appreciated. Great pacing, video clips, narration, analysis, and the list goes on. Wish you much success with your channel. That all being said I think I speak for many when I say this game was a sucker punch back when it came out and still is even today. It pulled no punches and was visceral in the emotions it invoked within you. It says a lot that people are still talking about its impact all these years later. The best art doesn’t tell, it makes you think. And I believe that’s something TLOU excelled at.
Lovely critique, watched the Ghost of Tsushima one first but this of my favourite game of all time had me clicking the subscribe button. Very well done. Just as an after thought, the remake of part one is available on Steam from March 3rd next year...played the remastered version on PS4 pro, but as a predominately PC gamer, I can't wait to experience the wonder of this masterpiece in story telling all over again. Like most of the former Sony exclusives appearing now on PC, it was an instant pre-order. As an aside...yet another one... I've bought all the former Sony exclusives released on PC to date... HZD, Days Gone, God of War, Spiderman...with Uncharted 4:Legacy of Thieves being the latest addition to my game collection on PC, even though like all the others, I've played them through on the PS4 pro many times already... Keep 'em coming Sony :)
Watching this the day before the show comes out and I just want to say how good of a video this is and how much more excited you made me for the show keep up the good work and I hope you get more recognition
Great video dude!! I love this game and I love seeing when other people love it :) just a few things though, instead of saying "I'll play the cutscene" you could just stop your sentence before that's said and let the cutscene play. Or you could say "then this happens" etc when talking about cutscenes. But other than that really great work!! Can't wait to see what else you come up with in the future
After playing this and replaying this several times including on grounded, doing multiple factions campaigns it and platinuming the game it will always be one of my favorite games of all time
I'm grateful you notice all these things and share them so i can enjoy them as my ignorant ass just blasted through without paying much attention. Great work sir.
Hey from 2024 here, I think in the show they used the same cassette tape song in the intro songs or wherever, from the car ride scene in the game! I recognized it✨
I will say the ps4 version is prolly the best version of this game while adding the prequel and the dlc factions mode, as someone who just couldn't understand the hype and praise this game had I think the era of bruce strailey, really had a deep emotional impact from his storytelling journey there are so many zombie games being made that many felt burnt out by yet another zombie game but naughty dog pulled it off.

@@yandhigaming420 I honestly preferred the 2nd game to the 1st i know this is a controversial opinion and I respect ppl who didn't like how the 2nd game played out but i love the drama and character building i dont mind if characters do what seem like nonsensical things if it builds to something meaningful or just substantial feeling in the end... doesn't even have to have any real meaning to it honestly thats kind of a luxury. it's a story and we do nonsensical things in life too. no one stays the same forever even if they try their hardest to be rigid
@@Lin_Eileen that’s a really great point, it’s one of few games where characters feel like real people and it’s not easy certainly a rocky road but at the end of the day the most crisp shmexy delectable gorgeous gameplay and combat ever, good looks mate
Tess also says after delivering Ellie they should “settle down”
@Cartman4wesome After delivering ellie? Didn't that happen while they were trying to find a way out before entering museum area?
I love how in that final cutscene, when Joel tells her she needs to fight for something, he grabs the watch from Sarah.
Never noticed. Amazing detail
The game: emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful story between a father and daughter who coincidentally met
Also me: wonders how the hell that horse survived for so long without proper care
Not good at all
I like to believe that Joel’s watch wasn’t cracked from the fall, but the watch blocking a bullet hitting Joel’s wrist. That watch is a constant reminder of his failure to protect Sarah.
I thought the same a near miss that stopped time
Exactlyyyy
A bullet would go straight through tho
I'm glad you were able to discuss a masterpiece without over looking some flaws (plot armor, dialogue continuity, inconsistent characterization, etc.) It really adds value so it's not just a multi hour rant praising it's perfection.
On another note I love the vocabulary, "blicky" "beams" etc the minor comedic moments where a serious scene is described with these words is a nice touch in terms of entertainment.
Thanks so much homie🖤
This makes me smile 🖤
The opening scene makes me cry every time. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it. Joel saying “don’t do this to me baby don’t do this..” and then crying just makes me so sad. Especially after playing the game and watching part 2.. Joel deserved so much better..
Fr why did they even kill his daughter I don’t understand
@@ems8717 taking precautions to make sure that anyone random they come across who is potentially infected doesn’t breach whatever zones they started setting up
Kinda rolled my eyes at this comment and then a minute later I get to this scene and am now bawling lmao 😭
Omg. When Joel was about to be shot in the beginning and says “Please, don’t” it’s exactly what Ellie said right before he was killed in the second game 😢
Oh man that’s insane
@@WILLINGLYWILD I never put it together until this video and it blew my mind
Oh man, you’re right holy shit that’s actually kinda poetic
2nd game trash it not cannon as far as I am concerned
@@robotpanda77 it is trash yeah but you gotta give credit where credit is due
This is such a great in depth analysis of the game. I like that you didn’t just praise, but also point out some of the inherent flaws, that comes with a game this massive. If you ever want to do a four hour video on both games (or any games, like silent hill for example) I’d watch the hell out of it!
Some things that were missed on the video or that I had an opinion on bugged me enough to write this comment:
1. 10:31 After beginning credits Joel wakes up and it could be deduced that he was drinking the night before.
Thanks for being kind and giving constructive criticism 🖤
I'd love it. And also with some other flashbacks of Joel and Sara😍
I would love that, but given Neil’s personal hatred for the character of Joel, I don’t think it will ever happen.
this was a really great analysis! Amazing work, you 100% deserve far more views for the effort you put into this
Thank you so much! 🖤
I fell asleep with TH-cam playing and woke up just in time to catch Joel shooting Marlene in the head
This makes anybody wish that Sara had survived longer further into the game to get to know other people that Joel comes across further into the game's journey down the road
i loved your commentary so much i wouldn’t have minded if you kept going over every detail! great video man!❤️
I was about halfway through this video and checked out some comments, then your channel and I was just completely shocked when I saw your subscriber count. You deserve so much more success.
This is the greatest game of all time. It means so much to me and I wouldn’t be the same person I am today if I didn’t experience this masterpiece. You reviewed it perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to make this review I can tell how much passion and effort was put into this video.
13:18 "I fucking hate escort missions!"
He say's this while loving on The Last of Us game.
I'd love to see this style of video with the second game.
the work you've done deserves more recognition and respect. well done!
You do have a point there! I never thought of that :) thank you🖤
@@ImGardenGnome Would love a video analysis for part 2 if you’re up for it. I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I certainly have my own many gripes with the game. I played it for Ellie and was thoroughly disappointed-… but there’s still a lot to talk about!
With the quality of the video i really was surprised to see that you have a 2k subscribe count. I was consistently seeing videos of the big dogs and your video pops up in the recommended beneath theirs. Keep up the work because wow is it obvious that you're going places on this platform.
25:02 You weren't reading into this too much, as this was stated by Neil Druckmann in TLOU podcast
Seven minutes in and I've already laughed so hard three times! Can't wait to watch the rest of this and your other videos!
1:26:50 Fun fact: according to Troy Baker, they recorded separate sounds(maybe movement too) for Joel during this section as he is still injured
The amount of time and effort you put in this video is awesome. I wish I could like it more than once
Thanks man 🖤
just watching this after seeing the new teaser trailer for the show.
19:50 when she says that they will get their guns back and some, I'm pretty sure the "And some" part is referring to a cure.
I feel like 10 years later, we have learned that Joel was probably justified in his choice, seeing as half the people would have probably just not taken the cure regardless
The clicker vaccine will give me AUTISM! I don’t even know what’s in it! >:(
“Clickers aren’t real - it’s all just a conspiracy”
You gotta be stupid to compare a bad cold to being a clickwr
Nah frfr
You said it. I literally put the controller down, clapped. Sat for a few moments not saying a word, and said out loud.. "what the f did I just play" with a tear in my eye. No cap....
holy cringoli
Part 3 has to be made, gonna be great like the first regardless of how much criticism part 2 got.
i really hope they make part 3 and some really psycho masked man alone kills abby and ellie and their entire clan/city...
I absolutely love the giraffe scene. My favorite moment in the game.
You did an amazing job on this video. I had never played this game, and I fell in love with it just on the strength of this video.
The little pause bit at the bill part made me chuckle
Ever since FF7 I have never felt in awe of a game, until TLOU. I will always treasure these games.
I still have the original hard copy of the FF7 and the hard copy of TLOU from 10 years ago.
This is a great analysis of one of the best games of all time. You are so underrated!!
Love last of us 1 and 2 since they came out I play them at least once a year. Both are incredible games
I keep coming back to watch parts of this til I finish it and man Ellie’s face after Joel tells her “you’re right, you’re not my daughter, and I sure as hell ain’t your dad” and it hits so much harder being able to see the true disappointment in her face
The Last Of Us and Red Dead Redemption 2 are just the most detailed, beautiful and story rich games ever.
Man I just couldn't help myself and snagged this up... wow all I have to say those graphics are insane there's so much detail in everything and the audio is amazing lol I couldn't believe how polished this is. I was skeptical at first but wow 😆
This is really underrated! I love your explanation of the story
Makes me wanna try playing it sometime
Thanks so much homie 🖤
I started playing this when released, also laughed at the "hardcore drugs" comment, even told my buddy that was sitting with me how Sara's smart-ass reminded me of my daughter. Got to the end of the intro....powered off the game, gave it to him, never played it again. I watched one of the "TLOU the movie" videos on youtube. Brilliant story, but it was way easier for me to stomach by being non interactive. Still constantly cracks my top 5 game list, and I never played it. That's a special game.
im currently doing my yearly playthrough of TLOU and it 100% still holds up its probably in my top 5 at least in my top 10
@@ImGardenGnome I personally watch those long form videos pretty often.
ive been playing games for around 11 years now, and i have to say after playing part 1 and part 2 last week , i can say this is the best game ive ever played and it is an absolute master peice, cant wait to see how TLOU 3 comes out.
1:15:00, not only that but Joel telling Ellie that she doesn't know what loss is was a low blow. She obviouly does not have any parents or other family, and to my knowledge, she has not discussed with him her family situation. She could have witnessed her family turning or something. Of course we know that isn't true, but I doubt he knew that.
i read a comment about that moment that gives you a diferent perspective on thing, Joel lost more than just Sarah, he lost his world, lost his home, lost his lifestyle, lost the relative safety of his old life, lost the chance of going to a restaurant to eat, everything.
i LOVE that at 1:46:14 Joel grabs his watch before mentioning "something to fight for"
I think one of the most surprising things when I rewatched the game years later was how smooth the transitions were between moments, cutscenes, and in game dialogue.
Bill saves joel & cuts the runner head off. Bill nye music starts 🎶 BILL BILL BILL BILL!
I would make the thumbnail text bigger though to capitalize more on your titles
waitttt- joels watch broke when they got shot at, does that mean that he forever has the time sarah died on his broke watch
Top tier analysis dude keep it up looking forward to it
The HBO series made me nostalgic of the game, so thanks for this video - great work on it!
The way that you made this video is actually pretty funny. Most people review this game with a lot of seriousness and they act like they're reading for an audio book or something, but you just say it straight up the way you want to with a lot of vulgarity and whatnot. Its pretty funny tbh
I spent years insisting i would hate these games. Finally bought them 2 months ago. I've now beat both games, I love them both dearly. Regardless of weird nerd rage about 2.
Absolutely nailed the video essay man! Loved every second of it!
Thanks man 🔥🔥
@@ImGardenGnome good job dude, subscribed for such future content.
It's so nice to listen to a video by someone who genuinely likes the game. Most critiques and retrospectives are so negative. The video is great quality too. You should do a critique of TLOU2, I would ring the bell just for that.
No doubt it is on the list of games to critique! Will get to it soon 🖤 thanks so much for the support man.
this video is massively underrated, deserves more views and subs to you. This video is so well made and it has got to be one of my top last of us reviews. Screw you ign. anyways have a nice day and remember. when lost in the darkness, try to find the light
All these years later I still need an explanation how Joel managed to dodge all the bullets in that burst but his daughter managed to catch one.
Especially since he turned
🖤🖤
Watching this the day before the show comes out and I just want to say how good of a video this is and how much more excited you made me for the show keep up the good work and I hope you get more recognition
This video was well put together. I love the commentary throughout the video😁🖤.

I feel like the music that plays during sarah's death is very reminiscent of the theme for Lee and Clementine. Definitely inspired
Just found your channel, gonna keep it short and simple..i see you obviously put a lot of heart time and passion into your videos so i subbed:)
I recognized it✨
Fun Fact: When Joel says push on after Tess dies he is talking to himself so that he can not feel anything in front of Ellie
Both games were masterpieces.....and if they tell the story in the HBO series in a way where its aimed at those who don't know The Last of Us from the point of view of fans of the games, it too will be a masterpiece.
Last of us 2 is not a masterpiece by any stretch
@@kabeperry6774 I loved the first and second game so much. The second game really made me angry when I needed to swap point of view to the other main character, but by the end of the game I really understood why they did it. Walking in another persons shoes.
I've watched Sarah's death 10 times
I'm a grown up adult and still fucking cries every single time
Yeah…This game- A game simply so unique that fits so perfectly with our generation. I agree, it is undoubtedly the best with other amazing titles like uncharted, read dead redemption, infamous ,and other great hits
My first time playing this was very recent, I got the game with the free ps+ download and just never got around to playing it. That was a mistake. Game was wonderful. And for as much as the second one gets hate. It’s still an enjoyable game from a pure gameplay perspective
Pleeeeease make a vid on part 2! Love this. Nice work.
I absolutely love these videos!! tlou and far cry 3 are some of my fav games!!
the way you go into depth on every section and scene of the game is just amazing.
ive watched the whole 2 hours of this just because of how good it is (: + it's on a good game lol
but yeah wonderful video man! next up for me to watch is the far cry 3 vid lol
im glad the remake was my first experience because you can see the emotion in their eyes at the end even more
