I feel honered ya made a video of my ignition getting programmed....thanks for everything....and that wasn't me calling the second time..I know better.....
@@TatroMachine question if you are able to answer, I have an 81 fxwg and I programmed for 0 dead revs, single fire, and three kicks in she fired up beautifully! Then I tried again later in the day and I was kicking for a while all over again, I really don’t want to take the ignition off again are there any other settings you suggest?
Man I wish you where near my town I inherited my first bike 74 xlh everything is new to me and the only shop near me caters to all the rich people around
Keenan, you sound wore out and sick. You should consider getting some much needed down time and rest s little. I know that you'll probably have somethin negative to say about this suggestion but your health should be your priority. Thanks for your awesome videos.. REST!!
You should get some rest,,put your head down on your desk an nite nite. Thanks for all the videos. Iam going back in time to find your video of adjusting valves on a 74 ironhead. After I watch this one. Thank you again.
The error you got is very common, "Ignition Not Found". The error happens because the Curvemaker program looks for the programming cable when Curvemaker is opened, and automatically selects a comm port on which to communicate. If the cable isn't found, Curvemaker may try to use the wrong comm port, so always plug in the programming cable before opening Curvemaker. The comm port can also be selected by hand on the Curvemaker "Config" tab. Just Google VRUSB2000i for instructions and more details about the cable. Thanks Tatro, I'll send you another cable this week.
that was exactly what I was looking for! But I still have some doubts... Editing the curve to 0 dead revs so that the kicker works better does that mean that I shouldn't use my E-starter anymore? Is there a curve that could be use for both applications kicker+e-Starter?
kick and elect do not like each other. set at zero revs. you can try adding some extra advance under 2000 rpm to make the kicker work better. the elect started will not like this. compression releases can help with this or just upgrade the starter.tatro
Tatro I’m confused here. If you set it up to fire on first compression stroke for kickstart the electric start won’t like it. I bought this 84 FXST because it had a kicker and electric start. What ignition should I be using? Right now it has a set of points. Coil reads 4.6 ohms.
the starter is just going to have to learn to lie the spark firing on the first hit. points are not stock for your bike but do work as you can tell. any ignition will work for kick start as long as it fires on the first hit. the ultima ignition has to be programed for this. for 2023 ultima just came out with a ignition module that is made for kick start. tatro
Tatro I need your expert advice I just got done building my 75 xlch my problem is after bike warms up it will not start it starts on 1st or 2nd crank when cold I’ve checked static timing replaced coil iam running b6l ngk plugs stock bendix carb check valve adjustment because it’s spitting gas out the carb iam just grasping at straws at this point I called the guy that had the bike before I got it and he said he had the same problem any advise would be greatly appreciated Thanks
Tatro, I set my 2000i to 0 dead revs and it’s a bitch to start. It’s static timed perfectly. And carb is dialed in. It’s a 9.6:1 89” shovel, S&S heads, Leineweber L5 cam, w/roller rockers for .550 actual lift. Kick only. Can you explain what the instructions mean by “the kick must not start on the compression stroke”? Also, do you have a curve recommendation for this set up? Currently set to traditional curve 2. Thank you for any help.
you need more timing in it at idle and low speed. you have to program it in with the computer. once you set the dead rev timing, the switchs no longer work. back to the computer. tatro
Could you give advance numbers I should use? The WOT settings it’s currently set at are: 1-9-20-31-35 and part throttle : 12 @ 500rpm then 35 after that. Thanks for all your help.
Keenan, I bought this for my stock '74 FLH where do I put my vertical line at in the timing hole at when setting this unit up towards the front, center, or rear of hole? Hope you're feeling better Thanks for your help
you don't time off the timing mark, you time off the tdc dot if you have one. probe the spark plug hole with a phills screwdriver to make sure you are on tdc. tatro
Tatro I need your expert advise iam building a 75 xlch and want to change it to right side shift will the shift lever rod out of a 74 work? The hole in the cam cover is there of course it’s got a plug in it and I thinking the only difference is the rod is shorter on the 75 so iam thinking if I use the 74 shift rod to make it a right side shift I can set the rear brake up like the 74 had using a rod and crossover shaft
Tatro hi, I am building kick only evo sportster engine from 2003 . what is a difference between Ultima and Dyno 2000i? I am considering Ultima full KIT with single fire coils. In your opinion any difference between those two? What would be your preference for the engine i build ?
dyna makes both the modules. all the other parts are cheaper. i usually use the oem dyna stuff on my race bikes. all of these electronic ignitions will have to be reprogramed for a kickstart bike. 3 dead turns does not work for a kicker bike. we need a spark every turn and more lead in the curve. tatro
@@TatroMachine Thank You. I thought there is a switch on Ultima for kick only option where spark goes on every turn. You alse created video how you instal new curves , but you didnt share how you create those curves , what parameters you choose and pay attention when you create your own curves . can you show that?
Hello, i’m from France and i’ve a shovel 79 93ci. What parameters you propose to me to kick start only ? I test with 0 on dead revs but it’s not enough... thank you very much
sounds like you caught a cold.....kinda odd, all the way across from California to Flordia, everybody is sick here on the east side of the USA also. My wife is a school teacher, she brought it home and gave it to me. I blame it on the commercial air travel, people can be anywhere in the world in just a matter of hours, spreads quickly.
OK, do I understand that your firing the coil/coils at zero when kicking and allowing a total advance of 40degrees? I've played with various advances in an effort to improve starts (Panhead) but have really never proved anything. Is zero the preferred number of kickers?.....walt...tulsa,ok
i think the ultima single fire programmable ignition kit is garbage, there is no top end on my sportster, i am lucky to get 110 km at 3000 rpm, and the motor is screaming, this was a waist of money . there is no setting to bring the rpm up to 5500 or even 5000, i will be going back to oem.
maybe you should read the instructions or fix your other problems you are having with your motor. something is wrong with your tune or other parts. i use these all the time and i make power way higher than what you are stating. tatro
Tatro, I called you a few months ago for a 71 xlch engine balance/build. And you’re booked years out. This video helps me out a lot. Thanks
