5th generation drives like you are on a bus, very boxy. So instead of upgrading to the 5th generation from a 4th generation i decided to buy another 4th generation with lower miles.
I don't know, there's a lot to like about both. We have a 2014 Limited 4wd and a 2003 V8 Limited 4wd. Both silver. The 2003 has a little more all-terrain-ish tires than stock. To be completely honest, the V8 is just so more fun to have. The insane amount of kick when you give it some Welly is just the best. I also think it's one of the best cars for long highway road trips owing to the super comfy ride and very long gearing (about 2k rpm at 70-72 mph). It's a nice quiet cushy trip. I do think the 2014 looks better overall except the front has never sat all that well with me. The 2003 has the plainest possible styling and if you remove your glasses it looks like just another Highlander. But that's really the charm ... it's one of the most sleeper vehicles on the road. Ultra, ultra low key but oh so capable. The driving positions are very different but I can't say I really prefer one over the other. The 2014 is more like driving a bus and the 2003 is pretty much like a car. Both trucks are dead solid reliable, so it's pretty hard to go wrong. But the 2014 is just a bit underpowered I would say.
Good video. Just got my first. 07 Limited V8 4x4! It's gorgeous Shadow Mica. All lights outside and in have been upgraded to LED. Pioneer Bluetooth touchscreen radio upgrade. It's pristine up top! Con... Check your 4th gens for rust underneath.... The ad for mine said it had been undercoated. And it's looks like it from ground level. The mechanic put it on a lift to show me that someone had tried to hide the rust with black paint. Lesson learned.... It's my vehicle now so it's my problem. Nothing failing yet but now it's on my mind every time I drive it. I seriously love this thing though so IDK what I'm gonna do in the future....
I think that the 5th gen has the windows sitting high and square angles in the bodywork to compete against Chrysler and all that “secret service” type of SUV, so the 4th gen feels more nimble to me idk
There is 3rd row seating on some 4 runners. Its not very useful but I guess it could be handy if you are in a tight pinch and need to get another person somewhere.

2010 -2020 are all 5th gen 4runners. 2010-2013 are pre refresh like the one in the video and 2014-2020 are the current style

Yeah they did a minor refresh in 2019 but still same generation going back to 2009. 5tu Gen is awesome.

I just purchased a 4th generation dressed in a Sport Edition, with 2 wheel drive and a V8. It’s a hauler.
