It’s basically a Land Cruiser in this form. These V8 4Runners drive better than the 5th gens.

@Johnnymota5809 Owned both the 4th gen V6 from 2005+ drives better and is quicker than 5th gen. 2005 is when V6 4Runner got the 5 speed still used in 2024 4Runners.
It also has features like soft close hatch and one turn start, oil filter on top, hidden compartment, etc

I purchased my 2005 4Runner Ltd - V8 (198K) a few years ago from the original owner in Palm Springs, CA. She had a few pounds of paper receipts for EVERY service since she purchased it new. I watched hours and hours of TH-cam videos before deciding on the 4th Gen V8. I drove it back and forth from Vegas to Florida a couple of times and it rides like a dream. I’m now at about 215k and look to drive it until either I or it dies. LOL!

I've heard the exhaust manifolds crack, but aside from that, and once replaced, the engine is unstoppable.

Great review! I bought a 2004 (in 2004) SR5 with the V8 and full time 4 wheel drive. Garage kept and serviced exclusively at Toyota. It has 70 thousand miles and has been pampered. No off-roading, no towing, no accidents and rarely goes in the snow. Kept completely stock. I love this truck.

8:50: I suspect wind resistance lowers the wind deflector since it is only spring loaded open.
Another hidden thing: To get the rear window wiper to work intermittantly, turn to Hi, then to Low.

Loved our ‘04 Sport, but sold it to someone more mechanically minded. 😢 MN rust is no joke after 230k miles. Absolutely loved the hamburger (French fry) tray, and we would keep our extra napkins and condiment packets in the secret second glove compartment. I don’t know if ours did the pop up shelf in the trunk thing-mind blown!

Love the 4th gens. I’ve owned all engines in a 4runner honestly you can’t go wrong with any. From 3rzfe to 2uz. I currently own a v6 1grfe and 2uz and I think both engines perform very well. I would say maintenance on the 1gr is easier then 2uz. Never felt inadequate power coming from the v6, both engines turn low 2k rpm at highway speeds. The v8 better if you plan to tow. Both feel buttery smooth to me.

I feel like the RWD in the V6 is more driver focused than the full time AWD in the V8. I get all the reliability and towing BS. The V6 just drives better, full stop.

I just bought a 2023 4Runner a month ago. I have been to the dealer 5 times there is a vibration on the highway and at low speeds as well. They did wheel balancing the first visit 2 days after purchase. Started at 30 miles into my first drive on the highway and did not roll freely down the road. It was like chugging up hills as well. The second and third time they said there was nothing wrong. The forth time I brought it in they rebalanced the tires and did a alignment. The alignment was off in the front and back. Wheel balance was off as well. Now the steering wheel is cocked to the right, and pulls to the right. The chugging is still there. I bought it back the next day with my
concerns. They said there was nothing wrong with it. It depends on witch way you look at the wheel.
What is your opinion on the chugging?

@@VikingsGarage I’m looking for one right now to buy because I love 4Runners for one. The only thing better than having a 4Runner is having 2, right? I have a girl friend that’s now a single mom and I would let her use it to get to work until she gets on her feet and could buy herself something else or buy it from me, if I could stand to part with it when the time came. I didn’t realize until the other day how insane the market was for them. But it makes me happy about my 2022 long term outlook on value……

@@VikingsGarage Lol. I’m a woman and she’s just a friend. But I’ve seen her struggling and I know she’s capable of digging herself out of this rut…….. it gives me a reason to jump on a v8 4th gen if the one I’m looking at turns out to be everything they are claiming it is as far as its condition. May have to fly to go see it. It’s in Virginia. I’m in Louisiana…. I’m also worried 100% about what is ahead with the 6th Gen. I’m kind of dreading all this shift to 4 bangers…… something about the old saying there’s no replacement for displacement……. I got into this hobby a couple years back when I got my 22. No one really warned me I was going to become a Toyota truck fanatic…… I guess I will be hunting an 80 series next 🤣

I really need to start filming content and posting stuff; I have this way of diving head first into all my projects and then thinking dang I should’ve done a video…… 🤣 But then I’m like well it will have to wait until the next time bc I’m not undoing everything I just did. I’ve been saving cash to buy a lift to put in metal building behind house….. lifts do make things easier……

Why does the V8 4Runner tow hitch hang down below the bumper, does anyone know? The tow hitch on the V6 seems more ‘integrated’ into the bumper. The one on the V8 looks aftermarket.
