Just brought one in April 2024 no issues at all. Fast smooth and battery life is still long . I use it for DJing and it works fine. I may upgrade the SSD to 1TB but I don’t download or edit videos so even the memory upgrade may be overkill for me
@@barfdragon582you can upgrade the SSD with a PIN converter and you can even try to upgrade the RAM, it needs a lot of proper management and it can be done, search it
battery can be easily replace, it only cost around 40$ on amazon, and it should last you about 6 hours, putting in thermal paste is also pretty easy. I can do both battery replacement and put in new thermal paste for you for 50$ labor

If you are just doing web browsing and word processing, then it should be plenty good enough! I'm still using mine and with a patch you can run Ventura no issues 👍🏻

NEED HELP. My 2017 MacBook Air is in great condition but yet I cannot download the newest MAC OS updated software. I’ve been trying to download iMovie from the App Store but because the laptop isn’t updated I get an error.
The newest available version of macOS available for the 2017 MacBook Air (model: MacBookAir7,2) is Monterey (not Sonoma), unfortunately. This is stated from Apple themselves. The oldest version that can run Sonoma is the model right after that (2018).
While the machine is good the actual screen isn't. I'd recommend upgrading a year to the 2018 Retina airs instead just because it's more enjoyable for 2024 content.

I use this same laptop. I stuck a 1tb WD Black SSD in there, and used Opencore to upgrade to Ventura, and it's been just perfect up to now.

it definately is a solid machine, even light video editing it still handle app like capcut perfectly

this MacBooks design is an absolute classic but it’s lacking in terms of performance and no Retina display.

you can always factory reset it, change out the SSD, sometime old SSD worn out, also change the thermal paste to artic mx 4
