    wonderfully helpful! one recommendation to everyone: buy a 50/100/whatever pack of brown paper lunch bags. easy to write on, very affordable, and a simple way to keep bolts organized between starting the job and finishing it

    For those wanting to save a step: I only removed the one long bolt going through the rubber insert in the rear transmission/engine mount. I kept the bracket attached to the transmission. Just be careful it doesn't catch on and bend the power steering line when you slide out the transmission. (This saves you from having to remove two difficult to access bolts that hold the bracket to the transmission)

      Is that for a 5 speed or 6 speed box mate? I heard the 6 speed is more of a mission to remove without lowering the subframe?

      You can leave the front mount on the gearbox too. And for tightening the CV shaft nut you can just put a screwdriver in the brake rotor and lock it against the caliper.

    this video guidied me through my clutch job on my evo 4. IMPORTANT: when removing transfer case from trans it will fall all the way down. if I was holding it that thing would've smashed my head. overall though the video is relatively the same process.

    Nice video mate, really informative! Just a quick question, did you need to disconnect the prop shaft going into the transfer case before moving it aside to get gearbox out or does it have enough flexibility/movement with it still attatched? Thanks

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By prop shaft, do you mean passenger side cv axle? You could possibly leave it in. I don't know for sure, i've never tried.

    • @EvoMal
      @EvoMal ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoostedFilms thank you for your reply, i meant prop shaft (sorry i am from uk, so maybe different in america lol) from transfer leading to rear diff?

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EvoMal oh yea, I understand now. We commonly refer to it as a drive shaft. I do believe you could leave it connected and still set aside the t-case. But might be just as easy to move the prop shaft out of the way.

    I started watching at a 22-minute point throwout bearing and your rear main seal installation let me say you missed a very important critical part considering you must pull out the transmission in order to replace a rear main seal never install that style of seal dry you must always put a light coating of oil on the inner edge of the seal all the way around you are now without that oil having a dry clean crankshaft turning on a dry Rubber seal and you could very easily damaged the seal you always lubricate the inner Edge all the way around the circumference of that seal so it is lubricated that was a big No-No I don't mean to be rude it was just so critical that you lubricate that inner Edge where the spring rides around the inside of that edge you don't want the crankshaft and the seal to be dry I would never use Permatex feelings after discovering the best feeling it's called The Rite Stuff also made by Permatex it is the best the best the best I wouldn't use anything else I respect your video I've been doing this 45 years and have yet to show some of the shortcuts and tricks that I've learned but to me the most important thing is that you do a quality job with minimal comebacks nice production quality cute kid good job just critical item that was missed but that's how we learn
