For anyone doing this on the ground, I recommend you take off the subframe bolts completely. this gives you much more room to fight the trans with. I also built an engine holder with a long plank of wood and extensions on the fender/frame area. i then tied a ratchet strap around the engine to secure it.
Excellent video and very helpful! Just finished installing this exact clutch in my GTS Sportback. Thought I'd share some tips and observations that might help others (in no particular order): 1. I encountered some minor differences to the car in the video, which I assume is the 2.0L, but nothing that couldn't be easily figured out. 2. Did the job in my driveway on jack stands, so very doable for the weekend mechanic. Just get the front end of the car as high as possible so you have room to drop the transmission. I used a couple wood blocks on the jack to make sure I could get the jack stands high enough. 3. I was able to do the whole thing by myself, with the exception of putting the transmission back into the car. Definitely needed an extra set of hands and eyes to line it up. 4. I could not for the life of me get the transmission back into place without removing the 3 studs for the top transmission mount. They kept hitting the frame rail when trying to lift and angle the transmission back into place. 5. I removed the front transmission mount bracket to create more space for maneuvering. It's only held on by 2 bolts. 6. The 3 bolts holding the rear transmission mount bracket were really REALLY stuck for me. I ended up removing the mount itself that is attached to the subframe to create more space to get leverage on those bolts. 7. I used an engine support bar and transmission jack from Harbor Freight. Worked out just fine. 8. I ordered a LUK brand flywheel from Rock Auto. It's identical to OEM, except it didn't come with the dowel pins to align the pressure plate. I was able to find some on Amazon that worked perfectly. They are 8mm in diameter and 3/4" in length. Search for "Flywheel Dowel Pin Set, 8mm Diameter, Extra Long, 8 Pack, Compatible with Dune Buggy." 9. If replacing the flywheel, you'll need 7 new flywheel bolts since they're torque-to-yield. OEM part number is 1120A138. 10. The clutch alignment tool that it comes with did not work for me. It fits into the crank, but very loosely. The weight of the clutch disc just causes it to fall right off. I measured the hole in the crank and it's 15mm. The clutch alignment tool was about 0.5mm too small in diameter. Autozone has a metal clutch alignment tool for $20. You can rent it, but I just ended up buying it since I know I'll need it for my other cars. 11. My car has 125K miles, so I also replaced the rear main seal while I had access to it. Just a bit of cheap and easy preventative maintenance. 12. If you have trouble getting the axles back into the trasmission, grease the splines and retaining ring. Should slide right in if you do that. 13. My clutch master cylinder had failed, so I replaced that as well. It's a plastic piece of junk. Amazingly, the Evo X uses the same one, so you can find videos and write-ups on how to access/remove/replace it. I suspect that that metal aftermarket ones for the Evo X would work, but I just went with one from Rock Auto. 14. Reverse bleed the clutch. I first used a vacuum bleeder, but I believe that still leaves an air pocket between the bleeder nipple and slave cylinder.
hey mate, I know this is an old comment but really want to say THANKS for all the additional comments especially about having to undo the top mount studs. I'm also doing this on an australian delivered VRX 2.4 I've been swearing and cursing trying to use a trolley jack with zero hope of getting the box back in (unsure how I managed to get it out... as there just isn't a flat surface on the bottom to lift with. I've also had to undo 3/4 of the sub frame bolts to try to try and get enough clearance to get the box back in due to the diff getting stuck on it. I've also had to build a basic gantry out of framing pine and use a come a long to lift the box up from above to have even a remote chance of getting it back in. i ended up just holding the engine in place from below with a jack stand and a piece of wood to hold the engine in place. my slave cylinder arm snapped when trying to lift the retaining circlip up. so had to organise another one through the supplier. the OEM slave cylcinder plastic seems alot beefier then the aftermarket one which has snapped.
@@havabeer1 glad it was helpful! It’s definitely a challenging DIY job, but gratifying in the end. Sounds like you got the box back in by yourself, so kudos! I could not do that without help. Unless you have a vacuum bleeder, you will need two people to bleed the clutch hydraulics. One inside the vehicle to operate the clutch pedal and one to open and close the bleeder screw. Make sure the fluid reservoir stays between the MAX and MIN marks throughout the bleeding process. 1. Attach a hose with a bottle to the bleeder screw located on the bleeder T. 2. Press the clutch pedal down slowly. 3. Open the bleeder screw to let air and brake fluid out. 4. Close the bleeder screw. 5. Release the clutch pedal. (You may have to physically pull the pedal up until there is pressure in the system). 6. Repeat the above steps until only brake fluid and no air comes out.
Awesome video, thank you! Excuse my ignorance, why is it necessary to remove the oil? The transmission is sealed and the clutch is dry. Doesn’t hurt to change the oil too, but…
The transmission is sealed, however, If you don't drain the oil, when you remove the axles from the transmission, you break the seal of the transmission and the oil will drain out there.

I know this isn’t a tuning video but I’m having a hard time finding anyone that tunes a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS in Philadelphia? I also have a question about my trans or clutch, so when I shift into second gear and I’m letting of the clutch I can feel Im guessing is the flywheel or something spinning like I feel the teeth on the bottom of my feet spinning and I don’t really feel it grab on but it somehow grabs on and sometimes it buckles, I can also go thru all the gears fine, maybe I haven’t noticed it on other gears as much but second definitely doesn’t feel right. what would you recommend?
It’s been a while since this install. I remember using a bolt that I took off from the install. I believe I used a bell housing bolt into the side of the head for the engine support bridge.
As the BWC diesel engine was only offered in Europe, we have never done an installation on one. Because of this, we cannot confirm the procedure for installing a clutch would be the same. While there very well may be some similarities in the procedure, there most certainly will be differences in the procedure as well. Our recommendation is to find a service manual for your vehicle and use this as your guide.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Although the 1.6L and 2.0L are similar there should be some differences in the steps for installation. Consult the OEM Manual for your vehicle for the exact differences.
Our research indicates that the 2015 Ralliart came in a 6 Speed Automatic as well as the 6 Speed SST. Since we do not show a manual transmission option this clutch will not fit the Ralliart models.
Hi there I have a question here I have a lancer se 2012 and my torque clutch converter gave out I was wondering even though I am still able to drive the car will it damage my transmission of I keep riding it to and from work.
The lancer SE trim package usually comes with a CVT transmission. We do not make anything for that kind of transmission. Does your car have 3 pedals? If it does please call our Tech Department (661) 940-7555 so we can further assist you.
@@adamjensen6376 Gotcha! Then you have CVT Transmission and this is not a manual clutch which is what we manufacturer. Best to call a Mistubishi Dealer and ask the Service Department this question.
We apologize for the late reply. It is not required to remove the shift knob to replace the clutch. We simply disconnected the shifter cables from the transmission. If you are trying to remove the shift knob for some other reason, according to the service manual, it just screws on the shifter. It may be tight, but you should be able to twist it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
Anyone know how to bleed a slave cylinder while doing this if we are replacing while the transmissions open on this same car? Or has any good references
You need to bleed the slave cylinder with the transmission bolted to the engine in the car. Once the hydraulics are connected you can go about bleeding the hydraulic system like you would any other vehicle. The only real difference is the bleed screw is bigger and plastic instead of being a small metal bleeder. To bleed the clutch you will need two people. Make sure to put a hose on the nipple of the bleeder into a bottle so you do not make a mess. To start pump the clutch pedal a few times to see if there is any pressure in the hydraulics. Then step on the clutch pedal and hold it down. Then Have your helper loosen the bleeder, once pressure is out of the line close the bleeder then lift the pedal back up. Repeat this step multiple times and keep trying this until the air is out of the line and you can feel the clutch. Be sure to keep toping off the fluid in the reservoir. If you suck in air at the master cylinder you will need to start the bleeding process all over again. If there is zero line pressure sometimes the pedal will stay on the floor don’t worry just pull it up manually. Good luck! If you have anymore questions Please call our tech department and they can walk you through this process step by step. (661) 886-9033.

After having this clutch installed on my evo x im getting a dragging noise when taking off or backing into a turn. Not all the time though. Thing is that it sounds like it's coming from rear of the car. Any ideas ?
If your still having an issue. Please call our tech department they should be able to tell you if the noise you are having is clutch related or not. (661) 940-7555. Thanks!
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology thank you, I will do that.
Just purchased the mb11-hdss kit with a good flywheel, but I've been having a hard time tracking down good quality flywheel fasteners. Would you have part number available for ones that would fit my 2.0L?
I would suggest ordering some new OEM flywheel bolts from the dealer.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Does 4G93, 4G63 bearing clutch can be used on the 4b11,4b10 system?
The parts you are referring to are not interchangeable.
is manual gearbox is the same for lancer gt 1.6 and 2.0 ?
Thank you for reaching out to us. Although the 1.6L and 2.0L are similar there should be some differences in the steps for installation. Consult the OEM Manual for your vehicle for the exact differences.
Sorry if someone has asked this. But is this the same for a 2015 lancer ralliart?
Our research indicates that the 2015 Ralliart came in a 6 Speed Automatic as well as the 6 Speed SST. Since we do not show a manual transmission option this clutch will not fit the Ralliart models.
Saludos!!
En referencia a como sangrar el clutch, alguien que tenga diferentes formas que les sean utiles y rapidas?
¡Hola! ¿Puede ponerse en contacto con nuestro departamento de servicio al cliente para obtener ayuda en sales@advancedclutch.com?
Hi there
I have a question here I have a lancer se 2012 and my torque clutch converter gave out I was wondering even though I am still able to drive the car will it damage my transmission of I keep riding it to and from work.
The lancer SE trim package usually comes with a CVT transmission. We do not make anything for that kind of transmission. Does your car have 3 pedals? If it does please call our Tech Department (661) 940-7555 so we can further assist you.
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology no just two pedal
@@adamjensen6376 Gotcha! Then you have CVT Transmission and this is not a manual clutch which is what we manufacturer. Best to call a Mistubishi Dealer and ask the Service Department this question.
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology I did and they said they charge $988.90 just for labor and 3,284 for the transmission along with the torque
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology but thank you though you doing awesome job #1
No pilot bearing?
Hi, the lancer in the video is manual transmission or cvt?
It's obviously a manual transmission. A CVT wouldn't have any of the same parts
Obviously a CVT doesn’t have a clutch
How do you remove the shifter nobs?
We apologize for the late reply. It is not required to remove the shift knob to replace the clutch. We simply disconnected the shifter cables from the transmission. If you are trying to remove the shift knob for some other reason, according to the service manual, it just screws on the shifter. It may be tight, but you should be able to twist it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
Nice video, does all the torque specs work for different clutch brands or not

@@AdvancedClutchTechnology ok thanks about what i thought much appreciated
is that clutch kits can plug&play to lancer 4b10 😂
Would a bad clutch cause a rattling sound?
If there is a sudden change with the operation or feel and now a noise has produced itself there could potentially be an issue with the clutch or another component in the driveline. Which one is better act or excedy clutch kit for evo 4 or evo 5
Cecil,
ACT does not make a direct fit clutch for those cars. But if you look on a few forums. People have been using the bigger Evo 7/8/9 pressure plate and flywheels on the 4/5/6 Evo’s.
Can you make a video for the evo x?
Hey Bruno! We do have an Evo X to film, but due to all this COVID-19 stuff we have been unable to film. We are hoping to get it filmed and up after the summer. Stay Tuned and Stay Safe Out There!
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology Thank You very much i just wanted to know because im looking to get the normal no puck sprung clutch kit and a oem flywheel because i want it as a daly driver and im not looking to tune past stage 1 and i want a realiable car and clutch that lasts the 6 puck would wear out faster and a video would be helpful so thank you again
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology you can show the part of removal the shift cable
@@juancruseeramos2752 We never removed the cables. We removed the two clips that connect the cables to the trans. Then we unbolted the bracket that holds the cables to the trans and moved it out of the way.

Hello, can you help me? I already changed my clutch, got my car finished on Friday, I didn’t know about the break in period, I only drived the car nearly the redline like 2 times, and drove it downhill like for 30 minutes on 2nd gear smoothly, now That I know of the break in period, I’m taking a it easy... Hey does anybody what kind engine hoist attachment they used and where I can find one?
Search, "FWD Engine Support online". That will be what you are looking for. If you are doing this job with the car on jack stands you can use a floor jack to hold the engine. Just be careful where you support the engine with a floor jack.
U guys have shop in los angels
Paul our factory is located in Lancaster California
Will a Evo X stock clutch. function on a gts y or y not ?
Unfortunately it will not work. The pressure plates are completely different. The Evo X pressure plate is a pull style pressure plate meaning the bearing locks into the center it, and the Lancer GTS pressure plate is a push style. I have included links to the pressure plates we offer for comparison.

This was very useful thank you very much my next question is a lot of parts for the SRT4 are compatible with the Lancer model as in turbo kit and internals I was wondering about do you know anyone that has tried putting a clutch kit from a 2005 SRT4 Neon on a 2012 Lancer? My buddy had one still in the box laying around and I went to see if it fit and it matched up perfectly and I'm actually currently using that clutch on my car.. I was just wondering if you had any more info for that
@@justinremak4456 The dimensions of the SRT-4 clutch kit and the 2012 Lancer are not the same and will not work. We do offer a clutch kit for your vehicle. I have included a link below with all of our clutch options.
