    I had to do this back in September on jackstands as well.. Hardest most PITA parts were removing those damn CV shafts, the intermediate shafts, and actually getting the trans itself out. Next time around the CV and intermediate shafts will be easy.. Trans will still be a pain.
    oh and I am astonished you were able to get the trans out without jacking up your Evo more. It looks so low to the ground!

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree on all fronts.
      I think my trans came out easier with the car as low as it is because i removed the front bumper and the entire driverside hub & lower control arm.

    To him get to the hidden 14mm bolt between the transfer case and transmission you need to fully unbolt the 6 bolts on the transfer case and push it out of the way to accessible the 14mm bolt from the block to the transmission.

    Bout to take out the gearbox in my evo 6.5

    Good stuff man as always. Its always a PITA doing it on jack stands. I had such a hard time with my buddy gettiing the 6 speed back up in there. When we did the last one. I've done about 5 evo clutch jobs now its never fun but key steps you pointed out have to get done or its impossible for anyone thats never done it before.
    The Harbor Frieght slide hammer kit can be modified also to get the intermediate shaft for all you guys actually reading comments.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I almost bought a harbor freight slide hammer, but it seemed like too much money for something I would probably only use once or twice. How does it need to be modified? Same concept as my dent puller?

    • @richardroberti1192
      @richardroberti1192 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it looks like the m8 bolt is going to fit perfect with one the attachments but of course it didn't. I had to use a drill bit and open it up and it grabs right on top of the bolt head. I figured for 20 dollars or what ever I paid I'll have it in the tool box for when someone around me might need some help doing a Evo clutch job. I'm doing a motor build in the next year or so, everything will be coming out again so it'll get used again.

      @@richardroberti1192 Thanks for the info. Now that i look on the Harbor Freight website, i see they have a $25 Slide hammer/puller. I would have grab that one had i found it. The only one i saw in store was the $70 slide hammer kit.
