Thanks, I really appreciate that! I'll be back soon with more videos soon now that the weather is getting better. Also parts are expensive and you're absolutely right about it being a lot of work lol
I'm from Brazil and I have an automatic Corolla 96, my car has this same vibration, especially on the steering wheel and when I shift into reverse. He is in the workshop now to replace this mount next to the radiator, it was completely broken. Great video, I love this car and really appreciate the content about it, it's always good to learn about its maintenance.
Definitely, i have the same car, it is my father's, he bought it diesel in 98 before i was even born, i came back from the hospital the day i was born in the same car, i drive it everyday, watched my father take care of it always now i do the same, it is indeed such a beautiful machine inside out, over 300k on the dash and i just drove it an hour ago. May the Lord keep all of us and our beautiful machines safe from all evil, Ameen.
A couple of things, I have a 1994 Corolla DX wagon ( 1.8 L engine ), and the torque values are definitely different from your 1993 1.6L model. The large bolts for the bracket are, 108 ft/lbs for the front ones and then that one rear large bolt on the bracket is only 37 ft/lbs. If you try to go to 108 ft/lbs on this one it will break and most likely the break will happen with the weld nut that holts the bolt in place ( these are only 8 grade bolts, you can see the number on the head and the larger bolts are 11 grade. I recommend buying new large bolts for this job, in going to 152 ft/lbs for my 4 larger bolts the head snapped off one so I had to replace that, these by the way are 12 mm ( grade 11 bolts ) Thanks for sharing this job, that rear motor mount was interesting to install for sure.
@martind181968 this actually is also a DX with the 1.8L 7AFE. I can't remember the exact reference I used for the torque specs, but thanks for the heads up, might be tearing it apart again soon and will definitely have to replace a lot more under there
Yeah i though i was gonna have to remove the steering rod column, and tried doing it but wasted my time as it wouldnt budge. now gna drop the sub frame as shown and hopefully i cn sort this mount out.
Those are manual motor mounts I had the same problem but you can use manual ones on a automatic the onto one that changes is the own that holds the transmission on top I been through all with these Corolla 93-97 Corolla I converter my automatic to a manual and there was a lot of difficulty but got it done but you can use them motor mounts that the only one that changed the one that holds the transmission on top trust me 💯
Once that subframe is back on you may end up needing an alignment. After I first put it on, I took it off and reinstalled following a special torque spec pattern in the service manual and still needed alignment 🫤👀😂
I'm not sure which ones your referring to specifically, but as far as I know, all of the nuts and bolts are "lefty loosey" aka counter clockwise to loosen
I had my mounts on my 93 replaced by a shop. Not sure which ones but the car still has a minor vibration when the AC/Heater is on. But it’s much better as before the whole car would vibrate and even the shifter. It stops when put in neutral but it also worked before the replacements. The shifter now never vibrates but the steering wheel does. I’m mostly happy with the results, but I was wondering if you have the same symptoms.
That's strange, it does it with the heat on? The AC draws power from the engine so that makes since, but the heat alone shouldn't make a difference because it doesn't draw any engine power. If your RPM drops significantly when turning on the AC, that would be a bad IACV (idle air control valve). But if it's only a minor vibration I wouldn't worry too much about it, these cars are 30 years old and just about every bushing and bracket on these things are about done.
@@walker.projects Oh, maybe not the heater but the AC for sure! It's true I have a 30 year old car, but I am wondering how to best improve it. I found out that my dad purchased a kit with only three mounts, A6261, A6260, and A6242-k0247. I'm guessing that piece missing is the trans mount. Thanks for the quick reply!
Most likely yea, the other 3 ate considered "engine mounts" and that one on the driver side is technically a "transmission mount" so it's usually separate. But yea I'm in the same boat now just trying to replace all the worn out rubber bushings in the suspension and fixing small things here and there. Could check spark plugs, and timing and all that just to make sure it's all running smooth
Some of these including mine with the auto will have vibes at a specific rpm range. Believe mine is around 750-800 rpm’s where it’ll be a tad buzzy especially when cold (under 40 Fahrenheit) In summer months I notice when the AC raises my idle from 650 to 750-800. Aside of that it is very smooth. Just a tad buzzy on super cold days before the car warms up.
I'm not too sure honestly, I apologize I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to things like this in other countries. I order everything I can through Toyota directly, for parts that are not available or discontinued, I use ebay, 1Aauto, rock auto, etc.
I wish I knew, Sadly OEM is discontinued. I used TRQ from 1aauto and they were all good accept the trans mount, but based on some research, its because of some confusion between different part numbers for the same part, and they mix up the automatic and the manual mounts because the part numbers are the same or different depending on certain years and trim levels and such. So long story short, I have no clue I'm sorry
I think it's literally just because it's a cheap generic mount. I normally never have a problem with TRQ but I don't know. Genuine Toyota mounts are like $100 a piece, and I paid $80 for all 4. Just a case of you get what you pay for. Nothing but genuine toyota parts from here on out though
Estoy en Cincinnati, Ohio. Solo tenga en cuenta que los soportes de transmisión manual y automática tienen el mismo número de pieza y, si tiene la automática, es bastante raro encontrar el correcto.
The mount for the 95 Corolla 1.8L automatic transmission is discontinued. What engine and transmission do you have? There is a good discussion on Toyota Nation about the differences in the location of the center hole.
Thanks for shooting this video. I’ve replaced 3 out of the 4. Leaving the rear for someone with a lift. I noticed that my new right mount had the same problem with the center hole being lower than the one I replaced, which was replace in 2014. Was the hole centered on your right mount?
I am having some issues bit I can't say for sure it's the fault of the mounts. Just to be safe I plan on replacing atleast the transmission mount with OEM Toyota, since that was the worst one. But I think the rest are OK. Most likely won't last as long as OEM but they do work. I'd say if you can afford it, just get genuine Toyota from the start, but they are significantly more expensive
I actually haven't yet, there are 2 large bolts holding the sway bar bracket on still, but eventually I'm just going to extract the broken bolt and replace it with a new one
Thanks, I appreciate that. But honestly I struggle to find good aftermarket parts as well. Most are just cheap ebay parts and not the best quality unfortunately. For the most popular car in the world you'd think there would be more, like the Honda civic.
There was no other piece provided, not sure why it was so off, I usually don't have any issues with TRQ parts. I do plan on replacing it with an original toyota mount eventually.
@JamesNice-o1q I do have 1.8 7AFE. Apparently this is a common issue, I ordered 1.8 mounts, but apparently they have the same part number as the 1.6 mounts, so when you order them, it's random which one you will get. My plan is to try and refurbish my original mount and put it back in
The brand name is TRQ, I got them from 1A auto. Never had a problem with any of their parts, or even any of the other mounts. There is a lot of confusion around the transmission mounts for this generation because there are several different variants. OEM is discontinued so you just have to roll the dice with aftermarket and hope you get the right one is what I'm hearing
@@walker.projectsYou’re right about OEM. Had a hard time finding 3 of them as it was in the US and got the last one (either was passenger side or trans mount) from UAE. All in all paid 500 bucks but ought to last the cars life 🫠
yur mounts don t like original, they look like taiwan or chinee mounts that y they not lining up right and they will not last long and u may still get vibration
They are TRQ but they were the cheapest I could find. Never had a problem with the brand with any other parts, but definitely get what you pay for I guess. Couldn't afford the Toyota ones. They do the job OK for now

WOW !!! NOW I KNOW HOW TO REPLACE THE REAR ENGINE MOUNT THANK YOU .
Yea I couldn't find much info on that one so just had to go for it.
Congratulations my man that rear one was a pain I actually didn’t get that far
My hats off to ya
@Humblebee_392 yea I was intimidated by it at first, but I couldn't turn back then lol just gotta remember it's all just bolts

I was trying to change the rare mount but i can't put the sub frame back on 💔
Oh no! I hope you have figured it out by now, but what is the reason you can't get it back on?
Once that subframe is back on you may end up needing an alignment. After I first put it on, I took it off and reinstalled following a special torque spec pattern in the service manual and still needed alignment 🫤👀😂
To get those 2 nuts out from underneath. I thought that goes clockwise? Yet it looks like counterclockwise in your vid 🤔

@Kingdom_Mindset777 I'm 99% sure it's the IACV, I have a new one and will have a video of that coming very soon

Excelente trabajo,... Gracias..en qué ciudad te encuentras?,... Quiero ordenar los 4 soportes, agradeceré tu atención....

@walker.projects MUCHAS gracias, .. estaré atento a otras publicaciones..
Por cierto, tengo un Toyota Corolla manual...
thanks! I have to do the same work, does this remove the vibrations?
It should help with vibrations, but if there are other issues causing vibrations it won't fix everything
We’re you able to find a mount from the Toyota dealer? My dealer said they are discontinued?
Haven't tried yet, can't afford anything right now. As far as I know last time I looked, they were available online, but can't say for certain
The mount for the 95 Corolla 1.8L automatic transmission is discontinued. What engine and transmission do you have?
There is a good discussion on Toyota Nation about the differences in the location of the center hole.
I have the 1.8 7AFE auto transmission.
Looks like you’re in the same boat as I am. Unless you can find one that looks like your old one you’re stuck with the design you have.
Thanks for shooting this video. I’ve replaced 3 out of the 4. Leaving the rear for someone with a lift.
I noticed that my new right mount had the same problem with the center hole being lower than the one I replaced, which was replace in 2014. Was the hole centered on your right mount?
How are these mounts holding up? Are they causing more vibrations or are they still solid?

what intake do you have
Just a cheap generic thing I found on ebay. Says "Air X" on it lol plan on switching to K&N soon
Is it possible the transmission mount didn't fit well because you opted to use the original bottom mount instead of the new one provided?
Don't listen to me. Did you fasten that loose ground to something and did it change anything?
There was no other piece provided, not sure why it was so off, I usually don't have any issues with TRQ parts. I do plan on replacing it with an original toyota mount eventually.
