These are backstreet garages where cost of repair work is much cheaper than dealerships, and it gives such workers, young and old, a livelihood, plus improving ongoing skills. My hat off to them for doing a quite a decent job, with very rudimentary tools and equipment available. Thanks for sharing the video.
Even if you paid these guys $5 for what they did it would have been a rip off because they did absolutely nothing to improve the condition of that engine. No measurement of worn parts was done and no proper cleaning was done. The rings were fitted incorrectly and oil dripped into the cooling system. this was a complete waste of time.
@@frasercrone3838 Yo vivo en occidente y hasta hace poco me he dado cuenta de que es más parafernalia que buen servicio el que nos venden los concesionarios. Consumismo puro. @@frasercrone3838 I was kind of on the same thought process. How do we know how good the work is? how do we know it will hold up since nothing was torqued to spec. My major concerns was the crank and the head... if those bolts let loose on either that engine is toast. Also, it looked like they reused the same head gasket and just doctored it up with some glue. Maybe this thing will last another year or two and judging by the condition of the oil when they cracked it open it seems no one really gives AF about basic maintenance so if this el cheapo rebuild lasts 1 year they probably get their money out of it.
@@WooHoo-itsGaryGnu Toyotas are a symbol for reliability, these cars are known to last decades and decades. Probably the dude was getting low mileage and someone suggested him to get his engine cleaned and that'd increase up a bit of mileage. People here are seriously concerned regarding fuel prices and average unless they're from a family that has fortune. You've to understand that more than sizeable population of the country seeks to earn bare minimum to survive in this country and in those circumstances, if anyone was to even say the same to me, I'd do the same to my Toyota for better mileage and less fuel consumption if a good portion of my income goes into transport and fuel.
They did NOT rebuild it, the only new part I saw going in was a set of rings which went in on top of the old glazed bore. NO measurements of wear components was done and the mainshaft bearings were not even looked at. The rings that were fitted had the gaps in the wrong places when fitted and the excess of fitting oil ran into the engine cooling spaces where it will mix with water. This so called repair was an abomination and a waste of effort..
Lol yeah, I believe the oil change did all the job. They just torn that engine apart, changed rubber seals and made new silicone gaskets and oiled everything before bolting it up again. That cheap engine maybe had a bad gasket and needed an oil change, thats it
Looks like really sloppy work tbh, idk if they actually fixed anything or made it worse. Looks like flooding the cylinders with oil that doesn't belong there which isn't ideal either.

❤😮😅😊 Good job there guys. I got a distant cousin to that car. I got a lot a Toyota echo 2003. It got almost 245,000 mi on it. That's still running though. I got to add oil every 600 to maybe 800 mi and it runs good and runs on premium and let it runs great. That looks like a 1.5 l engine. Very similar to what I have here in the United States. Just some things are a little different. Good job guys. Thank you. Good luck to you.
These guys put American mechanics to shame! With our Snap On toolboxes big enough for a small Hispanic family to live in. Our concrete floors, air conditioned bays, electric ratchets and impacts. These dudes don't need any of this! Well done.
Why the need to put others down for the sake of praising someone else? Stupid American lazy mechanics with their stupid useless torque wrenches etc yada yada yada. That's just embarrassing for you. Good tools save time and time is money. Good tools ensure the work gets reliably done, save time, save their body so it doesn't break from wear so early. Concrete floor rather than sand lets less sand in the air and therefore less crap will get inside open engines and make them last longer. There are things like guarantees for the work you do that they have to consider. Concrete floors leave over spilled oil and other liquids on top of it rather than absorb in to ground and pollute it. Air conditioning lets them concentrate better and saves energy to enjoy your free time after work better. Why should you break your body and drain your energy if you don't need to? Work smart, not hard. Please think next time before commenting.
Man i when i was young you couldnt do home reno or fix something without me being in the fray. Now i see my seed and every toy every remote control car he has took it apart and i see me in him. Is Spark plug replaced? Not sure. Still use old battery & old engine belt, old engine water tank. Throttle Body is cleaned. The whole work is cleaning service but not replacing or restoring.
Good job on using what tools you have but this is bad long term for whoever's buying the car. Using gasket maker instead of proper oem gaskets or even after market gasket on almost everything is bad. The only gasket i saw was the valve cover gasket and the o-rings. The water pump is also not the proper gasket maker , you are supposed to use water proof type instead of the same oil resistant type everywhere else ..... Also, no torque wrenches, reusing tons of old stuffs that are cheap like the thermostat. This is more like a quick cheap repair to flip for money.
Lo único admirable es que trabajan con las uñas. Ese motor no va a tardar pero ni 2 meses. No torquearon cabeza, head cilynder o como le llamen. Más bien no torqueo nada.
dont get me wrong i love this, but i really dont know how long this engine will last if it's not torqued to spec, or the risk of braking bolts without torque wrench

It’s an engine refresh, mainly just a good cleaning and a de-carbon, very little new parts used, I’d say it was burning a lot of oil from the amount of carbon build up on the pistons so they replaced piston rings.
i love how they drop engine on ground of sand and rocks..i wonder why nobody else is doing same thing...pistons knocked out falling directly to ground great way to destroy them...
The engine looks in good condition but the oil pan is bent in out of shape were the pump is located starving the engine oil Flow, that happens when they place the lift under the oil pan to change tires ext, even in the removal off the engine they place the lift right on the oil pan
the engine looks in good condition? You know this how? not one measurement of wear was taken in areas where tolerances are two one thousand of an inch. That is about the thickness of a human hair. You think the human eye could detect that on its own or the guys finger that he ran over the big end bearing journal. This was crap pure and simple.
