    Before I even watch this, I want to comment and say I hope you are doing well Katie! I am so sorry for your health struggles. I hope you have ALL the love and support you need. I will always send happy thoughts, for what that's worth.
    I hope you are coming to realize why so many of us consider the 80s such an important period in film. I think it's far more than nostalgia; I believe that movies were more interesting, and full of passion for the art form. "The Lost Boys" is fairly representative of that I think. From what I remember, the writer had written a script about Peter Pan after having read "Interview With the Vampire"; in which he imagined Peter Pan as a creature of the night. Joel Schumacher became involved, and he changed the script to be more sexy, and adult. So the film's title, is in fact a reference to Peter Pan's gang of wayward youth. Except they're all grown up, and include Bill S. Preston Esquire. I'd like to add that Corey Feldman, and Corey Haim, were a part of my childhood and it was sad to hear of his passing at such a young age. "License to Drive" btw; pretty decent 80s comedy starring the duo.
    The song "Cry Little Sister" is one of those songs, I would include to the soundtrack of my life. Ethereal, haunting, children singing, those vocals; it's perfect. I have a weird memory I wish to divulge. I was in a movie theater bathroom that piped in music, and this song came on, and I stayed in the bathroom to finish listening to the song. It is so strange the things we remember, and even stranger the things we will share on the Internet.
    Anyhow, I love this movie and can't wait to see your reaction.

    Hi Katie glad you enjoyed this film this is one of my favourite vampire films, along with Blade but I'm also a big fan of the old Hammer Horror films as well, as someone who was a teenager in the 80's and a guitarist in a heavy metal band we use to dress similar to the vampires from this film but with our own spin as well though,
    Anyway I enjoyed the ascetic of this film a lot and the Frog brothers are one of my favourite things from the film, also they made 2 more Lost Boys films The Tribe made 2008 and The Thirst 2010, I've not seen them myself so can't tell you if they are good or bad, anyway will look forward to your Blade and Fright night reactions.

    Cry Little Sister may be one of the greatest movie soundtrack songs, but it's a pretty good soundtrack all round. As for the Husky, it really looks like the wrong weather for it!
    In terms of aesthetics in films, have you seen Alex Proyas's 'Crow' and 'Dark City'. Both have a very definite look and feel to them

    There’s nothing to think about. The garlic, holy water, and mirror didn’t work with Max because they invited him in. If he had come in uninvited all of it WOULD HAVE WORKED ON HIM just like it did on the other vampires at the end.

    Garlic is not effective against any vampire in the Lost Boys franchise.
    Paul: "Garlic don't work, boys!"
    Edgar: "Try holy water, death breath!"
    When Max says "renders you powerless" he meant that you can't see through their illusions.
    Many folks misinterpret the invitation myth as the vampire being somehow blocked from entering a building. It merely makes you susceptible to their mind control. They don't have to be invited in at all.
    All in all, this was a fun reaction. Thanks for taking me back to 1987.
    I would like to mention a vampire film that I'm pretty sure no one else will ask for but I'm fairly certain you will enjoy - Innocent Blood (1992).
    Anne Parillaud, Anthony LaPaglia, Don Rickles, Robert Loggia and a rogue's gallery of mafia movie actors from the era. Directed by one of my personal favorites - John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, The Blues Brothers, Twilight Zone: The Movie). Cameos from Tom Savini, Sam Raimi and Dario Argento.

    In issue 6 of the Lost Boys comic series which is considered the true sequel to the original film, it's revealed that the reason Star decided to let David make her a vampire is because she was dying from cystic fibrosis, and the reason she fought for Michael's humanity was because she regretted her own decision not to face her own death.

    Great reaction to this classic Katie....The Lost Boys was a quintessential MTV style 80s vampire horror/action flick & with the two Coreys, so what is not to love? Glad that you liked it 🧛.
    Interesting fact - the boy band 'New Kids On The Block' original band name was 'Nynuk' named after the dog from this movie. They later changed the name of the group after the lyrics to one of their songs (which was sung by Donnie Wahlberg) after many people were confused about the band, 'New Kids On The Block' was definitely a much better name for the Grammy award winning music group that are still performing & touring today.

      @@yomogami4561 Everything about is it is just so good. It's an amazing throw back to creature movies like "The Blob", "The Thing", and "Night of the Comet". The Sheriff is played by Nathan Fillion. He's from the city I am from, and my co-worker delivered mail to his brother. So that makes me and him absolutely nothing. However, there is a scene with a band, and the cowboy singing is Corb Lund of "The Corb Lund Band", who are an excellent country band, from where I'm from. I have actually had beers with Corb Lund at a pub here. He is an extremely talented artist and all around good dude. I'm guessing Nathan Fillion was friends with Corb, and introduced him to James Gunn. Anyhow, I just always thought it was really cool to see a couple home town boys doing well for themselves.

    This movie inspired Buffy's vampires, notice how they have raised cheek bones and foreheads and their brow connects to the bridge of the nose just like the Buffy vamps.. I think the only difference is the contacts and fang type.. Lost Boys are modelled off nosferatu and have them at the front whereas Buffy vamps have shark type teeth with longer canine fangs

    So they renamed the town location to Santa Carla after the real life city of Santa Cruz (where it was filmed) complained.... this was back during a time when Santa Cruz briefly held the title of 'serial killer capital of the world' (3 active serial killers).
    For other great 80s vampire movies, you need to check out The Hunger, Fright Night, and Near Dark (the last one especially). More of a mixed bag, you can consider Vampire's Kiss (Nick Cage!), Vamp, and Lifeforce. As for 90s films, the ones to start with there would be Interview with the Vampire, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Blade.

    So good to see you again. I hope you are feeling better and that your health is improving. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling, but glad to hear things are on a better path with the specialist. Thinking of you and sending positive energy.
    So glad you watched "The Lost Boys." For me, the ultimate 80's vampire trinity is "Fright Night" (gothic modern vampire) "The Lost Boys" (Punk rock/New Wave vampire) and "Near Dark" (modern vampire as grungy, nomadic serial killer) Those 3 films brought vampires out of the castle, and into the modern age, for a generation. So, don't "cry, little sister" but instead, "say hello to the night" and meet us on the beach. (We're gonna toast marshmallows, not people, I promise) :) Hope you have a wonderful day and an incredible week!

    30 Days of Night

  • @JW666
    @JW666 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The vampires were originally gonna be young pre-teen boys, basically vampire versions of the lost boys from Peter Pan, but director Joel Schumacher suggested making them teenagers , a.k.a. actors in their 20's and 30's ;P, instead because it would be more sexier and attract more viewers to wanna watch this movie.
    And The Frog Brothers were originally gonna be chubby boy scouts, imagine Chunk from The Goonies and the fat kid from Monster Squad playing those roles.
    Before they made the sequels, there is a comic book that explains some of the events that is mentioned in the 2nd movie. The 2nd movie is basically a bland remake of the 1st movie, but it has Corey Feldman returning as Edgar Frog, Corey Haim (Sam) in a small role (and in a deleted scene) and Jamison Newlander, whose scene also got cut off.
    The 3rd movie is actually ok. Not as good as the 1st movie, but it feels more like a legit sequel this time. There is a scene from that one I love which is basically bashing Stephenie Meyer and how Twilight sucks XD =P
    In case you didn't know, Corey Haim passed away in 2010 and there is a scene in the 3rd movie where they basically make a tribute to him and his character. Jamison Newlander, the 2nd Frog brother and he also played the movie usher in The Blob 80's remake, also returns in the 3rd movie and has a bigger role in that one.

    This film isn't my favourite, but it's still really good, and I love the soundtrack and the punk ascetic. Interview with the Vampire is probably my favourite vampire film and book. The only complaint I have against that story is that it was a precursor to Twilight. 30 Days of Night is based on a horror comic and is really good. I'd also recommend Bran Stoker's Dracula (1992), it has amazing art direction and style. Good luck with your MRI and everything.

      @brandonatchison4769 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@skeletalk Yep, Interview started the trend of the vampire genre becoming more gothic romance and less gothic horror. A lot of punk elements were introduced in the 80s with films like Lost Boys and Near Dark. By the time you get to the late 90s and early 2000s, it's almost all action, i.e. Blade and Underworld and teen romance like Buffy and Twilight.
      But, the genre is making a comeback with recent shows/films like Midnight Mass and Voyage of the Demeter. There's also a Nosferatu remake by Robert Eggers due out sometime this year.
