Hi Sonia, I have really enjoyed your videos and tips for visiting Iceland. My wife Beryl and I, are looking forward to our visit to Reykjavik in February because we will be there for 5 days it is important to plan ahead what we want to see. Thanks once more for posting your videos. All the best to you and your family. Beryl & Jean- Pierre
Hi Jean-Pierre (and Beryl), great to hear you are coming to Iceland. Please ask away if you have any questions, I will help where I can. Have a great time when it comes, layer up and get your camera ready!! :)
Hi Tia, I hope you are enjoying your time here in Iceland. School trips are the best, and so is flying. What a cool place to get to travel to first off. The world is your oyster now!! Have a fab time :)
Sonia Nicolson I got back Thursday it was incredible there went to see gullfoss and the waterfall you can walk behind, forgot the names of the rest 😂 you live in a beautiful place wish I could of stayed there longer ❤️
Good advice. I went to Iceland several years ago in mid-September. It wasn't horribly cold but there was a wind storm that lasted for two days. One day was so bad I was literally trapped in my hotel. Be prepared for wind.
Great video very informative. My family and I - partner and 2 kids - are heading to Iceland next year in March. As a fellow Scot I thought I was made of hardy stuff, but it's 5 degrees in Glasgow now and I can only imagine it's much colder there. Better wrap up warm.
Thanks Sonia. I was in Iceland in late November and enjoyed my time. It was our family vacation with my sisters, brothers, nieces and nephew, and of course dad (12 people!). Your video was pretty helpful and I bought a few different jackets, and of course I forget the most important one since none of my jackets were water-repellent enough and ended up buying a jacket and pants set from Iceware (never again will I forget!). One thing I want to mention is ice cleats. The cleats were very helpful when we went to see the waterfalls. Rain jacket aside, I was pretty well prepared. I'm hoping to go back again in a couple of years. :)
yes, I don't have cleats but they're a good shout, thanks for commenting!! I'm glad you all had a good time and were well prepared for the weather. 12 people, what a gang, it must have been a blast!!
YAY, you're more than welcome Krisi. Thanks for subscribing. Where are you travelling from on your visit to Iceland, i hope you have a wonderful time :)
So what shoes would be most appropriate to wear with a dress for a nice night out? High heels? Flats? Tall dress boots? I'm going in mid October with Hubby for our 21st anniversary.
October tends to be just raining and windy, so any shoes are fine. It's not really cold enough for snow or ice so you'll be fine. Have a wonderful trip and Happy Anniversary when it comes
Going to Iceland in a months time and this video really helped me with what to get for the trip! Just wondering where you got your waterproof trousers from?
Good to hear Maisha, it'll be beautiful in Feb so I hope you enjoy. I can't remember where exactly but just any outdoor clothing shop like Blacks, Tiso, Cotswold, etc.
Hey, thank you for the Information. Can you give me a tip, if we need heavy trekking boots in summer or if trail runners are enough for the hiking activities. : ) Greets from Germany
I can still see a little snow on the top of the mountains so I'd bring hiking boots but up to you. You can just wear them on the flight though. Depends on where you plan to walk really as most paths will be fine but the general terrain can be adventurous for those ankles.
I live in leggings, you don't really need snow pants but if you have a pair of waterproof trousers and want to bring them that might be good. Not needed though. Have a great time!!
The temperature can be around zero in the evenings, probably not much colder, but won't go much above 6-10'c during the day. Have a great trip Linh, just layer up and bring waterproofs ;)
I usually wear fleece lined leggings or just lycra sports leggings but if you are coming in winter (like Nov-Feb) then I would say thermals, leggings and a waterproof layer.
not sure grip wise but they will work with some good thick socks. I live in my hiking boots and snow boots, the hiking boots are useless on icy streets but the snow boots are amazing. Maybe order some of those grip things you can add to the bottom of shows, have a look on amazon - I'm sure they aren't expensive and they might be worth it.
I don't think there's a lot of snow on the city streets, and most streets are heated from underneath to help melt the snow. It's mostly if you're walking in the countryside but to keep warm, yes, it's a good idea.
Another good video, Sonia. You mentioned not being sure about weather extremes. Yr.no is great for weather all over the world. (They have apps). Here's the weather statistics for Reykjavik www.yr.no/place/Iceland/Capital_Region/Reykjavik/statistics.html Keep up the good work. :)

Hi ! I'm having roadtrip in Iceland this September ! Can you advise about the weather there in late September ? Thankssss ! >)
The temperature can be around zero in the evenings, probably not much colder, but won't go much above 6-10'c during the day. Have a great trip Linh, just layer up and bring waterproofs ;)
May I ask what outer layer trousers you have? or recommend? :)
I usually wear fleece lined leggings or just lycra sports leggings but if you are coming in winter (like Nov-Feb) then I would say thermals, leggings and a waterproof layer.
Hey! I'm going to Iceland at the beginning of December, I planning on wearing my wellies but do you think thats a bad idea?!
not sure grip wise but they will work with some good thick socks. I live in my hiking boots and snow boots, the hiking boots are useless on icy streets but the snow boots are amazing. Maybe order some of those grip things you can add to the bottom of shows, have a look on amazon - I'm sure they aren't expensive and they might be worth it.
Sonia Nicolson thanks so much for replying! and such a great idea! I would have never thought of that haha!
you're welcome, have a great trip!!
Hey there, are these your tips for packing for Winter in Iceland? or summer, fall ? Thx :)
Yes, Winter. I filmed this on the 29th March so Winter into Spring I'd say. Thanks for pointing this out though, I have amended the title :)
+Sonia Nicolson (LAYOUTLINES) thanks for replying! I'm going in September so that's pretty useful.
Entertaining and informative! Cheers! :0)

SUNSCREEN!
Long underwear for men?. I am mostly concerned about walking on snowy streets. I am sure how slippery is Reykjavik in early december
I don't think there's a lot of snow on the city streets, and most streets are heated from underneath to help melt the snow. It's mostly if you're walking in the countryside but to keep warm, yes, it's a good idea.
Thanks Sonia Nicolson
