My friend works for a tourism company here in Iceland and she has told me about some of the questions Icelanders get from tourists. My favorite one is: "When do you turn on the northern lights" I laugh every single time!
HAHAHAHAH! Ohhhhh god.
Hello Sorelle, I'm really glad that I found a lot of your videos about Iceland. I have my own story to share you and everyone here about me and Iceland.
Back to 5 years ago, I was on my way back to my home with my dad. I asked him if I could go abroad as an exchange student (at that time I was about in grade 10). He said YES and asked me where I do wanna go. At that time, I only came up with an idea of the country's names that end with "land" : Netherland, New Zealand, Greenland, Finland and then.... Iceland.
Yes, Iceland wasn't that famous in that time. I thought I have heard about Iceland but I don't know where exactly it is and how does it look like. So I suddenly searched on google and I was amazed with the beautiful pictures of Iceland. It's like from a fairy tale. I also searched for Icelandic language and at the beginning I found that it's very hard but still beautiful and unique.
However, I wasn't an exchange student, due to money problem because it took like 10,000$ to go and my family isn't that rich. But, I still keep dreaming about Iceland. Iceland became something beyond. I'm obsessed with Iceland because I do searched a lot about everything about it (Language, Songs, Culture, Wandering on a google street view and have a daydreaming, Even looking for an Icelander penpal and I actually got one hehe).
Sooo time flew so fast, I was in grade 12. In Thailand it's a time for university admission. I had to study hard to get into a good, famous university. I made a contract with my dad that If I could get into a famous university, he would let me go to Iceland and he'll pay for it. So, my dad underestimated me, he thought I wouldn't have done that. But I did.
As a result, I went to Iceland in April last year as a volunteer in Reykjavik because I'm 18 and it's hard to travel in Iceland without car (in my opinion) and being volunteer is cheaper and beside you get an opportunity to meet new people from many places. I still remember how I was so excited. I've never been to Europe and it was going to be my longest trip moreover I traveled alone (isn't it amazing because you know, asian parents don't let their children go somewhere so far away alone easily).
Omg this comment is getting way too long so let's get to the point that it was like a dream for me. It's Iceland, the place where I've been dreaming for 3 years, the place where I've been thinking of everyday, and now it came true. It was just 10 days, so fast. I tried to live like a local people as much as I can like I don't bring my camera with when I went in the downtown (well, only the first day but after that I used my iPhone instead) I really enjoyed pretending to be the local. Everything was just so good especially the fresh, delicious Icelandic air (yes it's delicious you can actually taste it). On the first day I landed I wasn't cry. Before I went there I always imagined myself landing in Iceland and crying af but the truth was I didn't cry at all lol. But when I have to flew back... I cried a lot. It's like you sleep for 10 days and have a dream that you're in Iceland. And when you have to fly back it's like you wake up. I cried a lot, it was really somehow hurt and happy at the same time. I found that it's my home, home is where heart is and now my heart is still in Iceland. Literally I think of Iceland everyday. I will move to Iceland someday, though my dad still says that I'm such a nonsense but I don't care. I will move to Iceland anyway, but need to graduate first and collect money :)
So this is my story about me and Iceland.
P.S. I miss Hallgrímskirkja as hell.
I live in Isfjordur (the West Fjords, the most hostile-to-driving-in-winter area), I have a small car and I frequently drive between Isafjordur and Reykjavik in the winter, no problem.
Then again, I am a local, I know how to drive in winter conditions, I know how to monitor road conditions on the internet and I know how to monitor and interpret the weather forecasts.
I did *not* expect an Aussie when I clicked on this video title. Hello from sunny Perth. Mind you, with your character I think you take the sun with you everywhere

I'm planning to do a trip round the ring road next year around late summer time, you're videos have been helping me out so much so thank you! Also, your smile is infectious! Can't wait to hear more of your tips and stories from Iceland. Much love from Scotland!
We saw a stunning display of the northern lights around 23:00 in Reykjavik yesterday!! We walked from our airbnb, across the street to the water and it was amazing. Greens and purples and absolutely huge and vibrant! Even with the city pretty much across the street!
Also, my husband and I really enjoyed/are enjoying watching your videos before we got here and the last few you've posted since we've been in Iceland! ❤
I saw the lights too! How amazing are they!!! So glad you got to see them and so glad to hear you enjoy my videos too :)

Hi Sorelle! Loved this video. Great style. My wife and I loved Iceland from the 70s when we hired a car and camping gear and wild camped all around. Fleeting visits in summer/spring since but had a few days in November and saw the Aurora! That was the objective. You can see my short YT video complete with angelic choir! Don't think I can use a link here can I? But you'll recognise the thumbnail no problem! I agree with all you say about this excellent country: it is cold and colder, expensive, but wonderful and won't suit everybody all the time. I woudn't mind doing a drive around again though...in summer! ;-)
Im come from Greenland, we Are big fans to you. I Well say we are follow on your youtube
Every time, when you talk about this beautiful country, I love it a little bit more. I want to visit Iceland, but my parents don't want. Have you some arguments for me ? 😁🙈🇮🇸.
PS: you are amazing 😊💜
Pizza 26.05.16 i had the same problem.y heart literally is beating for Iceland, but my parents just like warm country's and this is why I never ever had the opportunity to get there. But I will finish my school in summer and I took the chance and in July I will go to Iceland for one year as an Au-Pair :)
say that it be a great 18th birthday present ;D
I don't know where in the world you live but north america flights over to warmer places often do stop-over deals in Iceland. Also cruise ships will often drop in to two or three Icelandic ports as part of a Scandinavian tour. Either of those ideas attractive to your parents or you?
In the summer you could land on like hot or i mean warm days like in the summer there are about 35+ days where the heat is 18-24c or more on a few days which i think is hot
THRIFT STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES!!!!!!!!!!!!! please make a video about shopping in iceland!!!
easy to drive compact cars during winter in Iceland.. you have to prepair yourself.. snowtyres and drive carefully :P
Thanx a lot for answers and advices. What car rental company you think is the best in Iceland?
Love the pics great video ♥️😊

I love your videos so much!❤️
Great Video.
Beautiful Video, nature is amazing and Iceland stands apart from most others.
You know last month, after seeing your video, I bought my self a ticket to Iceland :) I'm so thrilled to see it.It's a shame that I won't be able to drive there (I'm very bad driver), as well I checked your instagram what camera do you use for pictures? they are breath taking
How was your time there?!
What do you think about Iceland Airwaves? I looked through your videos (great!), but I didn't see one about it. Woman, the pole dancing...fabulous!
Thanks for this nice video!😃
November 3rd is my birthday! Lol. Planning to go next year. Super excited!
awesome video, very useful. thnx!
I'm curious, how is it going with learning the language?
When I went to Iceland I definitely had shorts. In May, the sun is so hot so if you're out hiking or walking around Reykjavik in the sun, it gets hot 😂. Hot as in 60-70F though...
Love your videos ... regard from Icelander :)
I just happened across this video today (november 3rd 2017)... that's when you "predict" the volcano erruption... lol.
what are the odds
Do you have a video on the cozycampers experience!? Trying to decide between that one or the mink one! Help pls 😋
Protection of wildlife within the park.
Visitor safety.
The park's objective of quality experience for its visitors.
One of the best places I've ever seen
talking about not seeing the northen lights for 3 months just for them come out tonight really strong :)
I KNOW!!!! It's the best!!!
yeah rented a plane just to get a bit closer to them, once outside RVK they really shine
You have fantastic energy. You have talent and enthusiasm. I will visit Iceland soon as I want stability there. Can you give me any advice about working there and can I find work easily. thank you for your patience.
I love the wig!!
Seems u r hvn a good heart ..keep up .
you’re so pretty!
I'm so late watching this, but do you still need Iceland footage? I spent a month in Northern Iceland last year and have quite a lot.
Do you speak Icelandic?
G’day from the UK. I’m moving to Norway later this year. Lately I been finding out a lot about Iceland and wow it’s a very beautiful and nice country. Lots of love for Scandinavia. I’m a keen photographer and I’m looking forward to seeing the northern lights. But you said aurora breakout is not that often so I guess it’s harder to catch it. I’m planning on living in southern Norway, so I have to fly to northern Norway to see it. But it might not come out when I’m there!
THIS IS THE HAIRCUT FOR YOU!!!
Nice smile, and info. Second trip in June :)
Did you take all those pictures???
They're so nice and you seem so fun :D
Yeah I did take them ! :)
Glad you think I'm fun. hehe
I love your hair cut
thanks you for great information. Where did you take the picture of rock formation at 3:32?
I love your videos! I am renting a camper van this May to travel the Ring road. Do you have any recommendations for finding camping spots or cities you definitely recommend stopping at?
Amazing video Sorelle!! I've seen a few of ur videos...thank you for all of your advice. Im planning a trip to come out to Iceland in September for my birthday:) and will be there about 3 weeks SO can't WAIT!!! would love to meet up....and have to say, jealous you have a boyfriend:( lol. Thanks again...LOVE your energy!!! Happy New Year:-)
My family and I are traveling to Iceland at the end of the year (winter), we live in Australia. None of us have ever driven in snow/ice before, but we really don't like the idea of being stuck if tour buses for the whole time we are here. What do you recommend for traveling around?
I'm a new sub, loooveee you already!
Do you mind sharing the name of the places that you show in the video? I'm doing the ring road with my fiancee (Wife by then) by the end of May beginning of June. The cliff at 3:43 looks amazing!
When someone rents a camper van, I do not see any video on the allowed parking places, toilets, shower heads. These are some doubts I have because I never had this experience.
I've visited Iceland before but will be coming back this summer. My question is which part of Iceland to visit this time. I've done the south (Ring Road) but would like to explore a new part. Any recommendations? West ? North? Thanks, and love the vids.
Thanks for the videos. been a big help trying to plan my trip. il be heading to iceland for the last two weeks of April. Il be flying in from Toronto, Canada. Question, are there any outdoor/camping stores in Reykjavik or around the ring road. Im not able to bring any propane on the plane so i would need to purchase a few canisters when i land. Thanks!!
Love love love
ive lived in Iceland for about 11 years and still haven't explored all the country, I love it here but as sorelle said very expensive 😂
yep, i can vouch for that, young people in iceland cant move out of there parents houses, because, renting or buying property(apartments or houses) is really expensive :)
I live in Iceland and I was born in Iceland and it’s not hard to live here and it’s pretty hot in the summer and it’s not expensive just my opinion 😋
question (yes, again): what camera did you use to shot those pictures? thx
How long will it take you to drive all the island around Without stopping? . . just to have an idea
You're awesome❤
Hi Sorelle, great video. I'll be there in April 10-24. Do you think I can get a camper van during that time period or will it still be to wintery? I know this may be difficult to answer
This was super helpful :) I have a dumb question...are the Northern lights very visible to the naked eye? I've heard some people say it's only really seen through a good camera, and in person it's quite dull (as in not vibrant)
No, it´s actually the other way around. I can see it quite often during night time in winter but trying to take photos is quite diffucult.
The pictures are looking gorgeous!! Amazing! Did you reworked them or are these the originals? Cause the color looks so...clear? Is that the word I searched for - "clear"? :D I hope you understand what I mean with "clear" :)
They are editing in photoshop and lightroom to make the photos my style :)
Sounds good! And - as I just said - they're looking absolute great! By the way, thank you for the quick answer! :)
Love you, Sorelle! ♥
By the way, I heard that there's a Chuck Norris restaurant in Iceland. Have you ever been there?
With which camera are u taking these in.sane photos😍😍?????
Hi Sorelle, your videos have been really helpful for me planning my first visit, I'm on my way to live in Oslo for a few weeks in the winter but Im stopping in Iceland for 8 days, it'll be mid-late November, I come from Miami so definitely not renting a car cause I don't know the first thing about driving in ice lol are there particular tour companies you would recommend, Im traveling solo. Thanks for all the helpful info
Which is the best month to visit Iceland if you want to have the best of both the seasons?
