- Episode 33
In this episode its time to fit the new propeller shaft clamp coupling, propeller shaft and deep sea seal whist i can still easily get right down into the bilge aft of the engine rather than fitting it later when the space will be slightly more
It's time to unbox the first lot of the boats electrical system and make a start installing some of the main components that will run and charge the house battery supply with the huge help from a local friend, Ash.
A big shout out to Ultramax for supplying the batteries needed on the boat.

Hi Finn, thank you for the mention! We continue to be your fan and love supporting what you are doing! Love your videos! Great going and we hope you enjoy using our UltraMax batteries!
The electrical area looks very nice. Ash is doing a great job. Very professional.
We agree!
Great to see some more progress Finn. It's certainly a long-term labour of love!! Keep @ it my friend, it's getting closer to launch every day.
Thankyou!!
What progress.
I’ve got a marine craft stern seal on my 20 mt motor cruiser. At her 30 year survey the boat yard recommended changing it. They did.
I gave the boat a one hour half ahead for one hour to test all the many changes.
Three minutes and the wheelhouse is smelling of acrid rubber burning.
I stopped and called the yard. I said we are not on fire as the inrush of water had put the fire out. They rushed down, hauled Amicula out and pumped the water out.
The fitter had tightened that red seal.
Bless him he admitted it. Lesson learned.
Just saying.
Thanks for the update Finn! Always enjoy watching your project 👍😎
Glad you enjoy it!
Keep it rolling Finn.
Happy to see that the project is advancing. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for watching!
Hey Finn, thanks for sharing your build with us, Dan.
Looking good Fin. Day-by-day, week-by-week, month-by-month you're getting there.
I like that trick of using a tracing block on irregular surfaces to get a perfect fit on your board
Very nice of UltraMax to half-sponsor your batteries!
How about a list of projects to completion that you can refer back to for us every 6 months or so - give us some idea of the enormity of what you have undertaken and ultimately when we will see you sailing!
Great to see you still posting and this channel growing after your time on the Tally-Ho.
Leo's Tally-Ho?
@@jaygee5693 Yes Leo's 'Tally-Ho !
Hey, thanks!
@@knotfinnishedyet9170 👍No Prob' Finn!
Will Finn attend the launching of Tally Ho?
I noticed the cleaner bit of floor where you dog lays himself out it’s good to have a dog around. Great progress on the boat looking forward to more.
So true!
Wonderful progress, Finn. Keep it up . . .
Looking great finn. Watching
Great progress Finn, it's always nice to have friends who enjoy helping and enjoy getting help in return. I find as much as I love working alone in my shop at times having a friend with me makes it even better.
Couldn't agree more!
Really enjoyed this episode. Being land locked in the Canadian Prairies a sailor I am not but I can always dream. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Definitely need to be adding some insulation around the engine bay to keep the noise down and be able to keep it from getting too hot. And add some led light strips so you can see everything clearly. Channel Refit and Sail from the UK redid a awesome little engine compartments on a old sailboat which turned out great. Insulated and well light. Could always add a small 12v fan on a switch to move air out of the engine compartment to keep the electronics from getting too hot or cold..
Good to see you Finn. Kudos on the progress. Stay the course.
Thanks! Will do!
Thank you so much for the excellent video. The project is coming along nicely and it’s exciting watching the progress.
You are very welcome, thank for watching and enjoying
Just took out an old engine out of my boat. It had a deep sea seal. if i had seen this video earlier i would have saved myself a bit of hand pumping seawater out of my bilge.
Finn, it is always good to see an update from you!!! please take care.
Thank you! Of course, I always do!
Electrical system is looking good Finn well laid out and organised👍
Thanks 👍
Well done, you’re flying along! Good to see different types of work being done, shows you’re making progress. Neatly laid out electrical system too🤓
Hi fin you allways do a grate job nice to see you back ken .

Making some real progress it's looking good, Finn 👍
I didn't even know what kind of boat an oyster smack was until i found your channel and now I can't stop looking at them. Glad you're still at it and super excited for yours to be sailing.
Wow Finn you have really cracked on, amazing progress and looking good.😀👍⛵️
Good to have videos filmed and mates helping get finniky jobs done whilst getting closer to being on the water!
Not to seam like a sycophant however, its it's truly great to see this update dude. Look like sound progress to your goal.🤙👊👍👍
Big leap forward on the project!
I don't know if it gets said enough, FINN, you're an absolute animal. Things look like they're coming along nicely. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Great seeing you Finn!
Great progress Finn!
Great to you again Finn loved the video the boat is coming on nicely well done see you next time
Thanks to the Open Championship it took me a while to get here. But I'll never miss a video. It's starting to smell like ocean around here!
That's a luxurious engine compartment! Go and look in the stern of just about any narrowboat to see what I mean!
Glad your still at it Quinn! You look a little tired but still stepping along. Neat work that you and your Bud put together on all the electrical needs. It will not be long before she is off the "hard".
Hang in there!! Cheers, Rich
Finn.
@@moonshine3333 Thanks! no coffee yet! ;
It can be a tiring project! But the motivation is still strong 🙌🏽
Gidday from New Zealand mate, nice to get an update. Beaut work as always, very interesting. I like you eye for detail. Been watching since the Tally-Ho days. With you all the way my brother.
Nice one! Appreciate the kind words!
Hello from Lochsloy, Washington. So very glad to see project is moving forward. Absolutely enjoy your videos. Best Wishes…!!!

Awesome! Thank you!
My friend, great to see you... I always enjoy the updates. But, are you well? You are looking very thin this time.... If that's on purpose great!!! If not please see your Dr.!!!!!!!
My thoughts exactly………Stay well Finn
Thank you, I am well, it’s summer and I spent 3 weeks in Thailand in 45 degree heat, that’ll melt it off ya 😉 I’ve been catching up! That’s all!
@@knotfinnishedyet9170Great to here, you are then getting in great shape! R and R is well deserved!!
Great progress and the puppy looks all grown up! Love the videos! It's good to see you without coat on; it must've warmed up over there. It's been 110° or hotter for over 22 days in a row here!😢
Thank you! The weather has improved! But nothing of that kind!
Well done Finn good work 👍
Comming on great Finn, haven’t watched for a while, you seem far more relaxed in front of the camera, a star is born! Love the canine management.
Nice tunes, do you play? Having a few wood bungs/ cable ties around ye holes at said diameter always came in handy if all else goes …glue glug..
Awesome! Thank you! Not so much nowadays, it’s finding the time! One day when she’s afloat 👌🏻
Nice work!
Thanks!
Nice work Finn. Keep it up.
Hello again Finn keep pushing on great work sir
Thanks, will do!
Love it keep it up as always 💘
Thank you!!
Probably gonna come off odd. But you lookin more Rockstar cool these days... great to see you keep at it.
👍
looks like you may beat Leo to launch!
Not sure I can see that happening! They are smashing it!!
Great to see you. Is that a new or expanded tattoo? Pretty sweet!
Nothing new, the tat is a few years old, before the days of working on Tally ho!
@@knotfinnishedyet9170 I guess it’s just finally warm enough in your shop to wear short sleeves. Keep up the good work.
Hi Finn, great video.
Will the boat have a mast and sails?
Thanks Vic,
Yes, the boat is based off the lines of a traditional Essex oyster smack. She will be gaff cutter rigged which is currently in the process of being designed.
👍👍
P.S.
Does your girlfriend appreciate a "comfortable" T-shirt? (I mean - the one with the "adequate amount of ventilation" 😜)
My wife tried to get rid of my favorite several times - when she saw me in it again - she went crazy..
Don't know how it actually works - but there is a strong correlation between the armpits and the "brain health system" ..
Great to see you back Finn. Beer incoming!
Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Holland.
Thanks for watching!
Lo
Love goggies.great process Finn
👍👌👏 Very well done again.
You look very different. You lost weight and your skin is darker. Hope you have been on a longer sailing trip and you are not ill.
Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved life forms (human and dog).
3 weeks in 45 degree heat in Thailand will do that! 😉
👍!!!
Do think that a block of wood placed under the strap on the middle battery would provide a bit more security to it as the other two batteries have direct connection to the strap
Yes I’ve decided it’s not sufficient!
Hey mate, Cheers from Sequim.
Slightly terrified for the lack of grease in the installment of the prop shaft.
I haven’t fully fitted it yet, still plenty to do.
Looks like we missed a few steps. Good progress!
Great work. But your middle battery is not very secure. The strap doesn't pull it down.
Yes I now realise that, I will be making changes, don’t worry
Finn, it's difficult to see clearly, but it looks as though you mounted the propshaft seal with the emergency key pointing downwards. Are you sure you can get sufficient purchase on it if you need to turn it?
He hasn’t installed it (finally) in this video.
Don’t recall the tats on your arm…👍
They have probably always been covered up! There from before the days of boat adventures
knotfinn's lost his boyish look, cos he's gotten phinner! 😢 #yesThinnestNow
