You definitely have not got to worry about have i made things strong enough or not. The bulkheads under the fuel tank are well beefy. Far better that way than not being strong enough. You seem to be getting the videos out more frequently which is good news and having someone to do the editing should take a lot of pressure off. Both you and the boat have come a long way. Without doubt this is going to be a very well put together boat.

Still at the weld/fab stage (filthy) right now - can't wait to get stuck into the more decorative woodworking part of the project. Will be stealing your plywood template idea for my tanks as there's _NO WAY_ any engineer's will be able to translate my dodgy measurements!!

Feeling comfortable having a conversation with a camera is not easy! I am trying some new techniques to feel more relaxed in front of the camera! Hi Finn, well done on all your many and varied achievements to date, not least the beautiful Silver Lass you worked on (Episode 26) that in "my" latest Classic Boat Mag May 2023 - (needless to say we are running way behind down here in NZ!) got highly commended for restored Power Vessel. Slightly off topic, Western Flyer which I am sure would have been there in your time at Port Townsend got overall winner, but it was most odd how those wonderful videos put out by Chris Chase abruptly stopped, whereby Leo actually did the re-launching video on his channel.....? Nevertheless, wonderful to hear (for all us "gluttons") we will see more of KnotFINNished thanks to You and now Isabelle. All the very best Finn, you are doing great!

I really don't know why yachters use fiberglass cloth there is no unilateral strength in using cloth. if you use 1.5 Oz Mat you double the strength of the fiberglass. And in my opinion it's easier to work with than cloth. If you come to a sharp edge you you can bend the fold to break down the fibers of the mat and it will tuck right in closely . I've worked with fiberglass for over 50 years most of the people that say use epoxy are selling it to you for how many dollars per compared to polyester which is easier to work with than epoxy and far more less money and will do the same job

  • @johnharris2337

She’s built like a tank, nice fuel tank. You may get some wood burn from the top of your exhaust U bend, we stole some metal heat guard from a car wreckers, off an old Truck manifold all of £5!
Those hatches in the bottom of the cock pit, will they have any lip off the floor to stop sloshing water going down? Have you thought of moving them to the side walls instead? A pain I know chopping out holes but would be dryer. I don’t know what the hatches lead too. Love the music as always, going well!

    • @knotfinnishedyet9170
      @knotfinnishedyet9170  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yess, we haven’t finished with the exhaust yet, still bits to add! Some protection to the surrounded wood will be part of it!
The cockpit hatches have been purchased. Compression seal hatches will be fitted! With a cover to go over the top of them. They are to access the locker under the cockpit behind engine bay. There are ball valves to cockpit drains beneath and extra storage.

It will help temper your obvious nerves on speaking to camera. You are however in a fairly unique position with your appearances on leo's vids way back when, to look at your delivery both 'to camera' and the stark difference to your informal speech patterns. Leo is a natural, you will need to work on those nerves. Men of Kent, stand proud!

I have not showed a sail plan as of yet, but it is under way. As we speak our local smack builders years, Testers has a sailmaker on site, together we are making plans and drawings to design the perfect rig for the boat. I will be making a video specifically talking about our rig plans very soon!

Port lights or holes in the sides of the cockpit for light in the berths?

There will be some type of port light going in the cockpit sides indeed! One step at a time

Surprised that you did not include a sea cock, at the exhaust thu-hull. As is, you are just one hose clamp away from sinking.

There will be a ball valve fitted to the inside of the skin fitting for extra safety. Just has not yet been delivered hence why it was not in the video. Also there will be two high torque hose clamps on every connection rather than just jubilee clips.
Thanks for the comment though 🙌🏽

@@knotfinnishedyet9170 Cool! Would be pretty annoying to lose your boat to a hose clamp 🙂

Too much hi-speed video. Establish what it is you are doing, show the start of the process, speed up any repetitive work, but show the detail of the installation. Speeding up from start to finish in consecutive chapters is just annoying. Hi, Izzy! In no way meant as destructive criticism, just one viewer's reaction. It's a new project; you'll have it nailed in time.

You are Knot nearly Finnished yet but getting there with some quality work along the way as we have come to expect of the build, can't wait for the next installment.
