- Ahoy there! I'm Finn Birch and I've just begun my journey towards a future full of sailing adventures. That is, Once I have my recently purchased, 40ft oyster smack in ship shape of course.

I’m a latecomer to Leo’s project videos, but so far I’ve seen how industrious you were in rough cutting those futtocks from the live oak flitches. You were, in my opinion, a valuable asset to Tally Ho’s reconstruction. Now I wish you the best of luck in this, your own endeavor.

Jeeze what a rabbit hole I have fallen down; after 50 odd episodes over the past couple of weeks watching Leos journey I have now found the start of yours!

I wish you the very best for your journey, some of the best years of my life were the 5 in the boatyard building my Herreshoff schooner. Truly, the sailing was great....but the satisfaction of bringing something beautiful into the world that is still sailing (though I now live ashore) lasts for a lifetime.

Way to go Finn, great looking boat, good first video , may your luck hold, take care of the knees, back and fingers, your three best boatbuilding assets. Watched a ferro 38ft 20t drop several feet onto a heavy sheet pile edge. Sling parted. Perfect 18in crease in bow, easy fix with rebar and a ferro epoxy mix used by dam and overpass repair crews. You and Leo are awesome, this from an old expat marina guy. Keep the faith.
Omg! That tree u pruned was a nice old birch; i hope u kept the branches for drying; that wood is beautiful, harder than linden
ionut gur it is a lovely silver birch! But it had to have a little trim to allow my boatshed some space! Still a healthy tree!

What would we like to know? Well, a short summary of the basic issues that need sorting out.........and how is it that a never-been-in-the-water boat needs any work at all. What's it called, how old is it.......all that sort of stuff. But far more importantly........when does your parrot arrive?

Great to see your new project Finn and looking forward to watching your progress. A well built ferrocement hull is pretty bullet proof, they were very popular for home builders in the 60's and 70's which lead to some poorly built ones which gave them a bad name. I am glad yours got a tick from the surveyor, it should take you anywhere in the world.

Joining from the Tally Ho project. light the light from a star, I'm about 3-years behind. I found your work ethos, congruent to mine, as well as my integration into the boating world. While I'm motor yacht captain, currently, i'm taking sailing lessons to get my sailing yacht by end of 2022

Ferro cement was the last thing I expected, should be interesting. There are good channels out there for steel, aluminum, wood and fibreglass so this will be a cool addition. Now you need to round up a mascot, most have a dog running around, Leo has his parrot maybe a cat? Looking forward to your success.

It is very inspiring to see how those old ships are restored and maintained for the future. Nice to see those lines and curves back on the water in the future, that's better than most of the modern builds of today!
