Solo Wet and Windy Wild Camp... would I bail? | Peak District National Park | Two Day Hike

A Bank Holiday solo adventure in the Peak District! I head for the Dark Peak with my trusty Lanshan to get in a couple of days' training for my Side 2 Side Challenge on the John Merrill Dark Peak Challenge Walk route.
I intended to do my second solo wild camp somewhere around Derwent Edge, though I was very nervous and having some serious doubts.
I chose the worst night to do this - high winds and pouring rain all night! Time to bail? Would the tent hold up?

Well done ! . I too have had enough of the mud. Was listening to the radio, whilst camping on Wednesday. They were having a discussion about how wet this winter had been. Farmers were complaining about how they are weeks behind in sowing seeds. Sports person were complaining about their fields , stadiums and courses being unplayable.. I was mumbling about my kit being caked ... so again well done and take care out there.

Thanks yes it’s called the John Merrill Dark Peak Challenge, it’s around 23 miles so doable as a one day hike in summer

Well done Steph, it wasn't inept at all, you showed up and completed what you set out to do 👍Yes the route changed but as you said sometimes you have to adapt. I was staying at Edale YHA for a few days over Easter and the mud was appalling. I've definitely had enough of it too. Look forward to your next vlog 🙂
