Thanks for posting this video, you really helped me install my 8gang switch with Daytime running lights. I would have NEVER figured out what to do with the yellow wire to get that part of the lights to work. Thanks again
Great! Happy it worked out for you
Wait what did you do? Cause I watched the video 3 times and still don’t understand how he split 1 light into 2 circuits
@@coyote208 It's 1 light (lightbar) with 2 modes; the main light which is activated with the red wire and the driving light which is activated by the yellow wire. The 3rd and last wire is the black ground which actually grounds both the red and yellow wires. I simply cut the main harness before the relays to expose those 3 wires and ran the red to 1 circuit which is operated by a single button on the Switch Panel and ran the yellow to a different circuit which is operated by a different button on the Switch Panel. The black ground can be ran to either circuit and it will ground both. Please feel free to email me if you need further help. Send me model numbers or links of what you are trying to connect and pictures. I'm a visual guy

A handy man, you are! That switch panel really makes things easy. How's the reflection of the light off the hood? I wonder if visibility is degraded using that during rain or snow. I have no idea and am interested in finding out your experiences under those conditions.
But for now, all you need is one of those relays that causes that bar to flash red and blue. MCSO and PPD might have something to say about that. :))
Thanks! I don't plan on being in snow anytime soon, but with rain I would guess it wouldn't work out so good. I will test it, but I suspect I would be using the lower amber lightbar in those conditions. Hmm, flashing lightbar you say?
Thanks for the video. What about the part about selecting different modes?
@@mbh427 Not sure what you mean. I showed how to wire the driving light and the spot/flood into different circuits and at the end how each worked independently of each other by pressing different buttons on the Switch Panel. What did I miss? I'm happy to clear up any questions you still have
What if my harness instead of yellow wire it has a white
@@PJWood-iw2eq I'd need to know more about the lights. Can you tell me what make and model or email all the info with pics
brothersadventuresllc@gmail.com
If you got a multi pattern warning or strobe light, the change pattern wire can put into switch panel. So, one of your switch button on panel will be a light pattern change button.
Cool, thanks!
I was going to ask that.. Does it share the negative terminal?
@@southtexasff I'm not sure about that particular light. You would need to look at the main wire harness and see which wires are coming from the main harness before the relays and determine what is what
Thanks for the reply on the other video of yours directing me here. My wiring harness from the light is a bit different as I have the Roadshock Edge 6 (two of them). I have a 4-pin harness that comes off the light: Red=Pin 1 Low Beam, Black= Pin 2 Ground, Yellow= Pin 3 Amber Backlight, White= Pin 4 High Beam.
Per the instructions, you cannot power both Pin 1 and 4 (low and high beam) simultaneously or you'll fry the board on the light. Most install videos show the optional harness and switch as the solution ($70).
QUESTIONS:
1. Can I just wire Pin 1 into a switch on the Auxbeam, and then Pin 4 into a different switch on the Auxbeam? It seems to me as I can, however, I would simply need to make sure that I never ran both switches in the "on" position, correct?
2. Would it be a better option to run switch 1 and 2 into a 5 pin relay?
3. My Auxbeam 8 gang (SKU:QP006231) switch does havea built-in solid state relay, but I'm not certain that that functions as would my question #2?
Any input is greatly appreciated!
@@Idagrown Regarding your Question 1, I would say that should work just fine. And yes, operate independently. You need to determine amp draw for each so you can wire it to the correct fuse.
Thank you for this. Would this still work with a 6 gang auxbeam panel? Obvious there are 2 less switches, but on the 6 gang your negatives dont go to the control box like your power wires do, they go to a ground on the vehicle.
Yes, it should operate the same
Hey I have the aux beam 6 hand and it doesn’t come with 40 amp breaker nor does it come with negative terminal in box so every connection i have to run to a negative bare post in engine bay my question is if I cut all relays out of harness will the aux beam have a safety since its doesn’t have relay just fuses
No it doesn't. Unfortunately you will need to use an external relay to operate your accessories safely if your Switch Panel does not have built in relays .
Can you add auxbeam 6 mode lights to a auxbeam switch panel?
Thanks
Well, you can add it but you won't be able to control the 6 modes
Would it be the same process for a light bar that has 3 modes ? It still only comes with a red black and a yellow wire
@@vlexlopez5389 I would need to know more details on the light and types of modes. By I would think you may lose a mode by have 2 modes come on at the same time if only 3 wires.
you put both your pod light wires into the same ferrule for the auxbeam, did you use the same size ferrule for the single wire?
I believe so. I think the pod wires were a smaller gauge than the light bar wiring and I was able to put 2 in.
@@AZOverland2017 cool, thank you
Hi my fellow AZ. Thank you for always making such great videos. I have a question regarding switch panels. How many lightings or gadgets before considering having a switch panel? I just installed the auxbeam light bar but haven't connected it. It also came with ditch lights that I haven't installed and I'm not sure If I'm going to. I also want to install the anytime camera. So I'm thinking 3 items that requires switch buttons. I don't want anything more than that. Do you think switch panel is still the way the go? I'm also worried with messing with the warranty. I'm going to visit a friend of mine who's electrical engineer to also help me decide. He lives on 35th n Bell Rd. The only thing is, he does wiring work for motorcycles and doesnt know anything about 4runners. I hope you can help me decide. Thank you.
Hello Arizonan! I'm a big fan of Switch Panels. I don't like having to drill and mount relays in my engine compartment as well as having multiple connections to my battery and additional wire harness hanging out. In addition, you don't need to keep running wires through the firewall for all 3 (or more) accessory switches. If it is in you budget, I would strongly consider it.
Your friend should be easily able to wire it up. This is not 4Runner specific, so his knowledge will allow him to do the install with no problem. And, this will not void warranty. If something fails on you 4Runner, they would have to prove that the Switch Panel was a direct cause of that failure. Very unlikely! I've done several videos specifically on how to wire the Auxbeam Panel and another on installing it in the 4Runner should he run into any questions. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Do you not need a ground wire for the red wire that you added to the aux beam box?
There are only 3 wires coming out of the main harness; 2 power and 1 ground. As long as that black wire is grounded, both lights will work.
@@AZOverland2017awesome man thank you so much for this video, as someone who’s not the best at electrical you simplify it and have me confident to install my aux beam
@@connormorency2448 Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions
Can I put a smaller fuse in where a larger one is. If I don't need that large of a fuse...thanks
@@unforgiven101inc Yes
Can you do a video on how to wire reverse lights that turn on when in reverse and can be turned on via auxbeam panel!! Thanks
i think that one can be done with hooking up to your reverse signal wire so when you throw it in reverse it’s giving power to that reverse wire hence giving power to the aux beam system and so on don’t quote me and maybe do a little more read watch but i think that’s close
Would it work the same way on a light bar with 6 different modes just keep turning it on and off to cycle through them?
It would not unfortunately
@@AZOverland2017 any idea how to make that work ?
@@brandonmills6815 I've been thinking about this for a while but I don't think it's possible with this particular Switch Panel. The switches are just designed for On/Off. You would need a switch with modes
@@AZOverland2017 cheers thank you
Is it possible to wire a separate switch to control the modes and still have it wired to the switch panel?
So there is no negative (only positive) to the 20 amp circuit?
@@watdaheck808 The 1 negative wire on the harness will ground out both power wires in the harness. So as long as you have the negative in 1 of the 2 circuits.
If you are running 2 separate lights, like ditch, each will have its own ground
@AZOverland2017 I have ditch lights installed using the 8 gang switch panel. I wired two yellow wires into a 5 amp fuse and same for the white wire for two modes using only the + and leaving the - empty for the modes. However, those two buttons don’t work . The ditch lights would go on and off but not the modes. What do you think I should be doing? Thank you!
@@mehmetfarukuzunkizak Do you have the negative going into 1 of the 2 circuits? If so, and it's still nit working, email me some pictures of the wiring and the model of lights you have

Im actually doing this right now. Im confused on the 3rd yellow wire. When you connected it to the positive port did you connect another ground ? So is it Red+, black - , yellow +? Im also connecting to a auxbeam 6 control panel.
If you have the same 3 wires I have, and it is a 2 mode light, then you can insert the black ground with either the yellow+ or the red+
