  • Arguably the most successful and iconic American racing car ever built, the GT40 ushered in a new era of motorsport. At vintage racing events both in the United States and Europe, GT40s have proven to be immensely popular on the road and on the track. They are frequent sights at events such as the Monterey Historics, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the Tour Auto. For the vintage racer, one would be hard pressed to find a more eligible, exciting, and competitive automobile. On numerous occasions, chassis number P/1061 has found itself at the top of the podium and will surely find itself at the front of the pack in the future. A highlight of the Jim Click Ford Performance Collection for over two decades, it will surely be an exciting machine for its next enthusiast driver.

My dream GT40 Mark 1 with the Gulf flares & rubber to match. Whoever filmed this deserves a hand & a pay raise/bonus. The camera angles & the action shots beautifully capture the spirit of this speed demon.

Is that car black or very dark green. I said in another post that this was Stillwells colour scheme when he raced in Austraia in the 60's.

I love everything about this car, I just don’t like the canards and those rear view mirrors

Was this car imported into Australia in about 1975. There was a GT40 painted Gulf Blue at a garage on Glenferrie Road Toorak and was there for a few months. Is that this car?? An Alpine A110 rally car was imported at the same time, that car was restored by a friend of mine and is still in Australia. Stillwell always painted his cars Green and Gold ( Australia racing colours) .Bib Stillwell was a great driver' and a heck of a nice guy if you were a young fan as I was. He was a Ford dealer and a Beechcraft dealer as well as the Australian importer of Lear Jets. He was president of that company for a while. Anybody know what happened to that GT40 l would love to know.Stillwells cars were always number 6 .l note that that not only is this car painted in Stillwells favourite colour and pattern particular at the front and is numbered 61. Just a bit of trivia.. Stillwell had a nasty accident at a road meet ( not a race meeting but an exhibition run) in Australia. He was pretty old but he was doing what he loved. He died not long after . He was a great friend and contemporary of Jack Brabham, when the Tasman series was running Stillwell most of the time bought the car that Jack had used in the series. I would love to get a ride in this car and to drive it would be a unobtainable dream. Great Video

Hi Beagle76, This GT40 P 1061 was at Glenferrie Rd Kooyong but it was not in the Gulf Colours but it was Pearl white with Blue on the side sills and was a registered road car from the UK. How do I know. I restored 1061 and i have some photographs of the restoration and was painted Red and it is the photo in this reply. Bib Stillwell purchased the car in Mid 1984 and shipped it to the USA and repainted it over there.Supplied with the car was the Original Moulds for the Rear wheel arches for Racing.
