      @@dim3nt0 i don't know, I suspect it might actually make a big difference on system memory and hard drive performance.. would be nice if Chris went more in depth about processes, especially the core OS ones and their impact with eg some benchmarks or even latency ones.
      Out of logic a light process OS should make everything more snappy rather than giving a performance uplift, but it would be nice to go more in depth about this argument. Maybe its is an IPC thing, so less processes leave more IPC space for things you are actually using.

    I've used versions of this tool in the past. Thanks for taking the time to upgrade it and keeping it working. Happy to hear about being able to remove defender. I made a windows 10 gaming machine that runs super smooth with that past video on making a custom iso and removing a lot of the components like windows defender. The tool is way easier but either way it's fun to be able to stick your hand into their os and rip out the garbage.

      What do you use if not Defender? Or no anti-virus? I've long hated third party anti-viruses for a while now since they seem to always just bog the machine down no matter what, whereas Defender is usually pretty innocuous.

      I find this hilarious. The only way to be secure is to never connect your pc to any network connection. Anything beyond that is merely a false sense of security. It is constant battle of balance between how secure you want to feel over the freedom that you have (sounds kind of like what Benjamin Franklin was talking about when it comes to government and safety). Just look at how much Windows has grown in space and processes just so they can track everything you do selling access to that tracking to multiple companies (you would be surprised as to how many companies your base Windows computer sends information too constantly that is not Microsoft. And believe it or not, Android, Linux, and Apple also does this. But if a person is such a novice with Windows that they do not know what UAC is and what it does, then they should NOT be downloading or running any script from the internet regardless where it is from.

    • @farmeunit
      @farmeunit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most tweak tools never make that big of a difference unless your machine is really old or resource starved. I haven't used this so I can't say. Plus, as I get older, I have less time to put into tweaking. All my machines run fine and I have no issues with UAC, etc.. I just don't get it, but there is definitely a market for it.

      @alanelston2330 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@farmeunit Your point about the performance improvement seems to be echoed by many who have actually tested fully. But there are also claims of great performance improvements. I think I did once notice on a low spec machine a noticeable improvement in general performance using such as tool a coupe of years ago.
      This thing is definitely a TH-cam success, and on balance I am very glad, because I have learnt so much from Chris. I encourage supporting him, but I am less keen on recommending the final product to people unless they know something about it: what it might or might not do.
      One other thing to note I guess, is that the utility, as its now called, has moved on to do things outside the classic Debloat/optimise/tweak area, hence Chris spent some time thinking about the title of it for his new version.
      Using the processes does not really reflect a true measure of the utility performance, but it fits a nice popular TH-cam video, as does the title. (Chris has a better descriptive title for the video at his site where he calls it a utility update. That title at TH-cam would not get so many hits.)

After running the tool they act like I disabled full screen optimizations and have tons of flickering, stuttering, etc and bog the entire machine down and takes much longer to perform the alt tab. I undid the changes and the games are still behaving the same. Also I'm noticing the running process amount is staying low like the changes are still in effect. Please advise

    Came across your videos just yesterday or the day before and am sooo thankful. I am wondering if the steps in this video are in addition to the ones in your video called "Clean Up Windows 10 | 3 Steps For A Faster Computer", or if these steps basically do all of that by just running your program? I was ready to do all the steps from the other video but noticed it came out in 2019 and things change quickly so wasn't sure what you would recommend with both videos out there. Thank you again so much for taking the time to put this together, I really appreciate it!

    I'm 61, not a power user and just did retire my 2006 Dell 520 Pentium 4 Windows 7 dinosaur. I have 2 newer machines now that I am installing Windows 10 on but the vast amount of unneeded programs and apps and the amount of Microsoft intrusiveness has blown me away. I'm following your guides to remove and disable some of them and cut the processes down to 128 so far. I found that when installing a fresh install it is best to not have an internet connection and not link to a Microsoft account. It made removing OneDrive much easier. I followed instructions to remove Edge using PS, GP editor and doing some reg edit but Edge is still listed on the apps list. Seems like Microsoft is on the trail to make Edge total removal more difficult, but I thank you guys for
    these tutorials and helping me to learn how to reduce some resource hogs and snoopiness of Microsoft Windows.

    • @ChrisTitusTech
      @ChrisTitusTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Depends on the system. High end systems, not much difference, since they have more room to run. Low End systems will get a considerably bunp since it isn't starting about 50 services that are running with stock settings.

    Just a thought Re: the exe for the toolbox, if you don't WANT or don't see a NEED to update it, I'd look into taking the pool of purchases when you're done supporting it and maybe using it as a "credit" for moving forward for something like a Patreon sort of thing?
    I know that could be a weird clerical nightmare but food for thought. you're well within your right to stop supporting it either way.
    Again, thanks for all that you do, you've taught me a lot while injecting some humour and useful insight.
