Chuck, I am a professional network engineering trainer with 24 years of experience, so I do not say this lightly. I have watched all of 3:29 of this VM video and it is one of the best instructional segments I have seen in a decade! Well done!!!!
i've tried installing vm on two separate desktops, both ryzen 7 cpu, nvidia video, 16g, ssd. win 7 on the one, and win 10 on the other. install fails in both scenarios. you wanna try a troubleshooting followup / reply to my posts
@@ClipFleck No! As was mentioned a VM is an application installed on your host or your main PC. It's just a Guest on the host PC. You can kick the guest out any time you like and have your host PC ready and able to take over. No damage was done.
Apparently you are not a teacher. Where did you come up with the 99% figure? It seems to me that 99% of those who deride teachers are the ones who did not pay attention in class. They were too busy goofing around.
@@nedludd7622 Gotta say I agree with you. If 99% were boring no1 would have an education. Every teacher has different methods, or many I will say. Not everyone learns the same.
@@nedludd7622I disagree. A lot are boring (without meaning to be) and A LOT are bad at teaching. 99% is an overstatement but it’s definitely gotta be 80%+. I’ve had a handful of fun/enthusiastic teachers and I’ve had very very few great teachers. Way too many teachers forget what it’s like being on the other side, or they don’t know how to communicate what they know effectively. So to have both of those traits - yeah, very rare

I can go all day why I am glad I found this channel, but the main reasons why are -- > 1. His voice is calm asf and makes it easier to be able to focus. 2. He explains the steps that are easy to understand for beginners and experts. 3. The challenges he has at the end are amazing so it gives you first hand experience. 4. When he describes his steps, its not to much and scrambled up and confusing. Its just straight forward and easy to take notes from.

I am into IT and how come I had not found your channel until now? I must be living under a rock or something. Your enthusiastic way to teach is just really awesome and I was hooked right unto this video from start to finish even though I use VMs all the time. You really are amazing. coming back after 3 years. and i got to say.. this is the video that got me into pentesting, kali linux, and all that comes with it.. this video started the snowball effect. thank you !
Your exceptional ability to explain complex technology in a detailed and elegant manner is truly impressive. The clear and concise language, examples, and visuals you use make even the most complicated concepts easy to understand. Your engaging presentation style, including the use of humor and personal anecdotes, keeps the audience interested and invested throughout the presentation. Keep it up!
In college, our professors gave us the VM files to install into VMware, but they never showed us exactly how to set one up. Your videos are not only great refresher tool, but you are teaching me things they never mentioned.

You not only cover subjects I'm interested in, your detailed presentation along with your enthusiasm makes it easy for an ignoramus like myself to understand and enjoy learning about making life easier in the digital world. Three year old video but I only just landed here on your video and channel today as I finally decided to get into virtual machines. I have to say, as a new adult learner to this topic, you are a very talented instructor, Chuck. Your ability to break down and explain complex concepts to a complete beginner noob like me is valuable. You're probably the best or at worst, one of the best subject matter expert teachers here on TH-cam in my experience.
As a 78 year wanna keep living beginner your tuition helped me get Kali up and running in 15 minutes. Your pace is perfect for even old timers. WELL DONE
I'm an IT guy 24 years in the industry and even though I know everything you just talked about, I really enjoyed watching this video so much I stayed the entire time. You do such a great job at teaching and translating IT speak to Normal speak. Keep up the good work, brother.
Hi, there is another wrinkle to this that he didn't cover: running Anonsurf or Tor (and a VPN) on the host operating system, then doing all the browsing from the guest operating system (either with or without a second VPN on the guest). My thinking is that this may "torrify" the guest operating system, while managing to sidestep malicious exit nodes, as browsing is not being done on the guest OS. . Do you have any thoughts on that? Thanks.
Mate I don't usually comment but have to tell you, your positivity and enthusiasm when making videos makes both the videos more interesting and the 'lesson' feel more fun. Big respect, please keep on.

I was surprised by the simple and quick explanation. I am in a company for a year and a half now and it currently supports the navy. We use vSphere (which is VMware, but bigger) to create data servers, virtual machines, and more. Virtualization has been out for a long time after doing more research on it. It's really more engaging and amazing when you think about how simple and effective this technology can do for you at home, at work, at a company, or an organization. As you stated Chuck, you can learn hacking and you can break it any time, which is the best part if you plan on doing tests; and that is one reason it makes it effective! Thank you for creating this video! It gave me a better insight on what I'm doing for my system admin job.

Chuck you are an amazing instructor, so easy to listen to and follow. They say if you know a topic well, you can explain it in simple terms. Clearly you know everything you talk about extremely well and you enjoy teaching it. You are better than any lecturer I have ever come across in my time in academia. I've just changed into cybersecurity from a profession that has nothing to do with it and you are saving my ass.
He's soo good at explaining these things to newbies like me, and that is a true skill. I'm really good at professional cooking but I'm not very patient and Don't always put myself in other people's shoes, therefore I'm not really good at teaching. This man is very good at teaching, which is evidently very challenging and takes a lot of patience.
I like to teach and help others and my whole spiel is that if you can explain it to the layman or someone who doesnt know very much about to concept at hand in a simple level and build and show them the deeper concepts down the line but yeah it is challenging and takes patience for sure

For AMD users: when you go in your BIOS to activate cpu virtualization, it might not show up as AMDV, but it could also show up as VTX or SVM. Hope you found this helpful!
Even for topics that I am already fluent in, I still love watching your tutorials. You are such a pleasant and charismatic personality. Thank you for creating these videos. Your teaching style and content are greatly appreciated.
And now that's what I call sensible amazing brilliant tutorial. No unnecessary background music. Good voice and of course humor. You are a blessings dude! Thanks alot.
I'm a retired Linux, Unix, Window, VMware administrator for a large corp and have forgotten most of these command that I had used so many times. Nice video.
This was great!! Two minor things popped up 1. losing sound once BIOS was changed 2. Ubuntu going full screen once installed and both easy fixes. 1. Go to control panel>view by large icons>sound and right click to do sound check or disable and enable then sound check and good to go. 2. Go to Ubuntu settings>display>resolution and set resolution to fit your screen. Again, this was an awesome step by step to help me get Ubuntu up and running so I can dive into coding on Linux. Thanks!
Great way to describe the virtual processing networks, I really enjoyed the learning exercise. I love the fact that you can pause the vpn which will allow you to use additional gigs for other applications; then you can unpause the vpn to resume the use of the virtual machine. The skeptics with that would be if the new applications that you are using and or downloading has the same ability which will give you the same access to the gigs when you would want to unpause your original virtual processing network?
Hey Chuck, I just wanted to take the time to say thank you. I'm sure that you get enough comments that you won't see this, but I am extremely greatful for your content. Just a note for anyone installing Kali post 2022 version, I encountered the installation stuck at "select and install" stage, would not go past it. solution: Increased storage to 25Gb(the default) and turned off firewall, during installation. I also had a black screen with flashing cursor following install. Solution: On the "install Grub loader on a hard disk" screen >> select the alternate option to "Enter Device Manually" Thanks again Chuck

I love these things. Like you said, Magic. You can either use them for experimentation for fun or practice your networking skills without messing anything up. Seriously, I had a final project for school and it was to build a network from scratch with multiple machines with shared files and folders and programs. We had used virtual machines quite heavily for homework and demonstration purposes and knowing how to use and deploy virtual machines on my home computer gave me the skill refresh so I knew exactly what i needed to do with the schools computer and I finished my project with time to spare. Love your videos man. My #1 teacher! Trying to break into the technology field and studying for my cybersecurity degree and certificates. I always use your videos for references, especially when I am learning new material and need a video to solidify my understanding on the subject. Big plus that you literally make these videos real engaging!
I have been using Linux OS and VMs since 2007 and somehow I was hooked to your video. I have watched your other videos as well. Chuck, you are really cool and keep it up.
This video much like most of your content is so valuable. I've really been wanting to go deeper into the IT world after I get my A+ Certification and one of the things I really want to learn is iOS Development. A huge hurdle in the way of that was I needed a Mac and I don't have one. I just build a new computer over the summer and thanks to virtual machines I can have the best of both worlds and then some. Its been a rough few years for me and I find myself struggling with depression and impostor syndrome and the nagging feeling that maybe I don't have what it takes to pursue my dreams even though IT has been my passion since I was 15 years old. Your content has gotten me through those slumps more times than you will ever know. Thank you for what you do for the community Chuck. You provide an amazing public service.
The enthusiasm you have for what you teach is really amazing... I've been using VMs near daily for almost a decade now, and your explanation still blew my mind. I didn't even realise how magical it was myself!
Some people might call it enthusiasm, but in this case I call it excitability, or how to practise speaking so fast that the viewer has to save the video, then play it back at a slower speed in order to understand what he's saying. Still, I did get something from it. Although I had heard of VMs before, I didn't know much about them, but now I know what they can do.
Love your energy and delivery, I definitely picked up a lot from this. Many questions that have gone unanswered for a long time hv all been cleared in one video. Thanks a million Chuck!
You made this so fun to learn! Particularly for someone like me. I'm currently going thru this transformative rabbit hole exploring questions like "Okay, maybe I don't know how to respect my digital privacy because I don't know what my data is exactly?", "What does Open Source mean other than free stuff? Oooohhh, there's a philosophy? Interesting...", "There's more than Google Drive, Windows OS, Facebook Messenger, Amazon, etc?!" lol the last one makes me sound pretty bad, but before I started exploring these topics, my instant response to anything that had the word "Linux" or something like that was "Oh, no, I know nothing about that and I'm too dumb to learn". lol I'm finding a lot of cool shit-- thank you for introducing virtual machines to me!!!
Quote of the day: " If you can make the audience mesmerized by your teaching then you are an awesome teacher" - me . I couldn't get my eyes of the screen for almost half hour. Thank you Chuck.

@@hamidmazuji Increasing HDD allocation to 30 GB solved the problems I was having with the VM install failing.
if i keep using a VM and like completely forgot about my PC and always be on the VM will it damage the host or smt like that?
@@ClipFleck nope
@@ClipFleck No! As was mentioned a VM is an application installed on your host or your main PC. It's just a Guest on the host PC. You can kick the guest out any time you like and have your host PC ready and able to take over. No damage was done.
You don't suck at teaching and you're not boring. That puts you in the 99th percentile of your counterparts. Good job.

Jesus will fulfill you more than anything in this world, I speak from experience (from when i did Romans 10:9-13), he loves you and wants to be in a meaningful (not romantic) relationship with you. :) “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13 KJV “and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15 KJV If you want proof that Jesus and the Bible are true look a documentary called “Ron Wyatt discoveries 2022” on TH-cam and a TH-cam channel called Expedition Bible. They both examine archeological sites and discoveries that prove the Bible, and even reference secular sources. (Just don’t convert to 7th day Adventism after watching the documentary) And lastly if you don’t know the gospel and want to be saved search up “abc’s of Salvation Teenmissions” on Google and it should be the first or second result. When you click on it read the whole thing, and do what it says and have faith in Jesus while you are doing it, do not doubt, and if it is hard for you to do what it says, ask Jesus to help you, have faith that he will, and he will. I can go all day why I am glad I found this channel, but the main reasons why are -- >

Thanks.

This is one great video on learning how to create a VM using VirtualBOx .And his enthusiasm is what makes this even more cool and interesting.
You earned a sub
You would be amazed with the brilliance that come with intel cypher services , never imagined such advanced technology
im just getting into this, you have saved my life bro, love the way you do it, cant wait to carry on consuming this content and start coding, thanks mahn
YOU FREAKING ROCK! Getting back into the I.T. world. And needed to know how to install VB & Kali Linux. 2yrs later this install is still valid. Thank you so much for making this step by step vid! I was initially trying to avoid doing this, however I could not run from it anymore.
Hey NetworkChuck! You made it into my college class with this video! You are now an "official" professor!!
Hey NetworkChuck! I just got a new job in tech and this is by far the most helpful video I've seen on Virtualization. Thanks for taking the time to put this together... excited to go through your other videos!
You're one of the only TH-camrs who speaks quickly enough so that I don't find myself bored or skipping forward. Nice, thanks.
I was scared to even look into this but you inspired me sir. I'm gonna do it, who's with me!!
I've wanted to do this for years and I totally agree he inspired me to do it it seems pretty easy but I'm stuck in the process
I agree I was always scared for no real reason. this video pushed me. as a dev its good if I can get different VMs for testing and other things
I had never commented on any youtube videos, but I had to comment on your video saying that you are absolutly AWESOME.
Thank you for all the infos regarding VM( i have to use it for work starting from next week and this vidoe helped me understand and configure everything I need).
Thanks again
the mans literally teached docker and hypervisors BEFORE teaching VMs...
Cart before horse!!
Yeah I was pretty surprised when I saw the community post asking if he should do a video on VMs. I thought, "You mean you haven't already done one? I just assumed that video already existed."

Yep, videos seem to be going backwards. Still waiting on the next CCNA video, which doesn't appear to be happening anymore.
@@MrRobot222 A CCNA course can take anywhere from 40h to 80h. Chuck has a lot of things to do, his CCNA course will take a year at least. Go buy some courses/books, they're worth every buck.
this is awesome, just when I'm trying to get into IT. you are dropping knowledge bro.
He's the guy who got me interested in learning IT
I have been hearing about virtualization, virtual machines and VMware for the past one year or more but never quite understood it but not until the last half an hour where my understanding about the subject gained the maximum change that it could probably ever have. This is just the video that I was looking for. Now, you've opened the doors to the world of virtualization for me and I am going in in full throttle. Thanks!!!
Dude.... first of all, your energy and passion about tech is amazing. Great video! I have been a Windows tech guru for many years, and recently started to get bored with computers. I decided it was time to give VMs a try so I could start playing around with Linux. Thanks for the great video!
I’ve been engineering and developing thousands of software-robotics using virtual machines for almost 20 years. I’m happy to finally see the tech have reached “critical mass” for the rest of the world. 😁✌️
Question, do you know why my VMware workstation software keep crashing occasionally with window 10 or 11 ? what is the work around ? thanks a lot?

@@sergeiepatov7683 I don't really know the stuff you're talking about, but I saw "LookingGlass" and was instantly reminded of Looking Glass Studios, who no longer exists. They published the Thief pc game series in the early 2000's.
@@atlantic_love Looking Glass Studios was epic! Thief and System Shock 1,2 yeah, I remember. But I'm talking about another LookingGlass. Fast accelerated framebuffer streaming from Windows qemu/kvm guest to Linux host. Fast, low delay, suitable for virtualized gaming.
So many systems are going virtual nowadays that as an electrical engineer I need to know how the systems really work in order to allow me to specify them properly and make sure that clients get but they need to operate. This is fantastic information which you always provide and I'm never disappointed in. I recently had a client come to me with a proposal from a engineering firm that was recommending virtual machines and blade servers to replace there Microsoft operating systems. So I was able to walk them through the consequences good and bad of doing this.
cloud computers are virtual machines, does anybody even use their own hardware anymore ?
@@edwardmacnab354 wow thank you for this information.. I'm new to coding and this kind of stuff thanks..
@@edwardmacnab354hy use my own hardware and introduce vulnerabilities when I could provide control mechanisms utilizing cloud based virtual machines?
I watched this from start to finish.
Really like the hands-on guide to this.
Best thing for me is showing the more advanced-nice-to-have-features after the "normal" setup and install.
The things that i should maybe change or use and what they do if turned on or off.
Keep up the good work
Your enthusiasm is so infectious!
watched a few of your videos, im so excited to learn from you and i love to hear youre a fellow texan hope to catch you around the area someday, absolutely love your content chuck, youve earned every subscriber you have for sure.
Man you are awesome. I initially got into IT because a friend told me about the Google certificate and I didn’t know any better until I saw your video about IT certifications and I heard you say to start with the A+ so that’s what I’ve been doing for the last few months. I learned so much about networking and subnet masks and IP addresses from you. I really wish you did an A+ course.
Not only are you extremely knowledgeable, but you also have genuine excitement in regard to virtualization. Excellent video!
Im going to be honest. Through all my years you are the best teacher I have ever came across. And the best part is I just found you so I cannot wait to explore your page. I cannot remember the last time I caught myself smiling when learning. I honestly think this is the first time.
That was the "Broadway" of teaching simple things. Kept me engrossed, taught me tons and kept it enjoyable throughout. 5 stars all the way!
My attention span is garbage these days, but got to your applause of thanks. Applause back at you. Such a straight forward demo on what a VM is, how to install and some customization. Even followed along with the steps, though my Linux install is still chugging away. :)
OMG, Thank you! I was going to set up Virtual Box this past weekend but was hesitant. The TH-cam tutorial I watched was NOTHING like yours. Now I am absolutely comfortable and convinced this is the right move and EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. Again, Thank you! 🤩
How was it?
I literally watched the whole tutorial even when i already know this, that's the best teacher can do
wow. i am actually amazed with this video, the way this dude spoke, taught and with so much enthusiasm too! subscribed
Imagine every professor/teacher talks and discuss just like him
They should . That's how you are gonna get me interested in what your teaching .
They should
well, maybe the professor paid only by college..
but him paid by google too from view on youtube..
😂
You still wouldn't get any of his sh!t.
Yes definitely. Especially something they love to talk about
Great video, chuck! I'm from Brasil and so thankful to understand 100% what are you saying. Perfect accent.
Randomly stumbled upon this video. Have been wanting to learn more about virtual machines, so gave it a watch. Love your enthusiasm and ability to concisely convey information! I'm really stingy with my likes and who I subscribe to, but you totally won me over with this one video. Well done!
Computers and Coffee. I think I found the right channel to "re-learn". It's been a minute. Great video. Subbed. Thanks! ☕
They’re great efforts shown by intel cypher programmers, the ability to bypass all verification securities is insane !
