First Time Saigon: Ho Chi Minh City on Foot, Motorbike and Tuk Tuk 🇻🇳

- It's my first time in Saigon so I start out on foot, then a motorbike to find the best banh mi sandwich, shopping at Ben Thanh market. Walking past the opera house I tour the famous Hotel Continental and take a tuk tuk or cyclo down to the river and tour the iconic Majestic Hotel and the M Rooftop bar.

Im enjoying this video.
You have a certain type of demeanor & constant inquisitive disposition that is both innocent and somewhat Dorky.....which is very entertaining!! Lots of fun!
"The bubling pond" is just a normal pond with fishes that occasionally made bubbles 🤣🤣🤣 Who could've imagine
Really enjoyed seeing you interact with locals interesting! And there's so much to look at in Vietnam! Good work Barefoot! ❤

Thanks Michael!
If you bring salt, you can accelerate beer chilling with the ice. Great content.
Do you have a napkin? No? It's ok, I'll just use my shirt! LOL.

Thanks dragon. I always tip exceptional service exceptionally--as long as the price I'm charged is fair.
Lol, the beer could be a little colder. Don’t you hate that? I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Vietnam.
It's hard to get used to warm beer lol
Let's not forget . South Vietnam and America soldier were allies and brothers in arms. My brother served in Vietnam . he was award a silver and bronze star t, He made friends with Vietnamese soldiers he loved the culture and people and the food . . He predicted that one day that area would e a great place for Americans to vacation ..Thailand was one of the most popular R&R destinations for American soldiers ..I think Phuket was the most popular then Bangkok ...hollywood almost t never gets it right
Absolutely right Richard, your brother had great foresight. Thanks to him for his service.
Only 20% of South Vietnam was US allies, and the rest of South Vietnam were North Vietnam allies. 50% of Saigon population in 1955-1960 were the Chinese-Vietnamese and the biggest supporters for the US, and also the most hated group by native Vietnamese.
@@chithiennguyen1371 where you get that statistic bro?
@@BarefootVloggerwearing communist flag hat meaning you support them?
@@mq8799 from American documents, of course.
Search for:
1. 80% South Vietnamese would vote for Ho Chi Minh.
2. Saigon population 1955.
3. Chinese-Vietnamese population in South Vietnam 1955.
4. 85% Chinese-Vietnamese live in Cho Lon Saigon.
5. Diem election rigged 1955.
I m watching your videos and I m Cuban thank u for the videos at Santa Maria Beach
Cubans are some of my favorite people in the world. And love the food!

I can tell that Xe Om guy must have been immigrated to Saigon from the North recently. Who would not know where banh mi Huynh Hoa is, especially when he does that for a living.
Mấy thằng tây này biết éo gì nó cũng chả quan tâm
You look good with the green cap from Vietnam Nam
Thanks Maite 🙏
27:55 he was saying there's "rich man"....and that banh mi place i ate before only 1/4 of the sandwhich...i swear i would get a heart attack if i ate the whole thing
Hi Terry, hope you are well, there is a high rise in Saigon that i cant locate, it has two wing features at the top and quite unique lighting at night, would you be able to find out if this a hotel? any assistance, from other footage it appears to be close to the main govt building, thanks Terry, ps i have noted your favorite hotels for reference, hope to be in sth Asia this year, go Navy
Hey Johnny! It's hard to tell from the description. Email me a pic if possible and I'll see what I can find out. Safe travels brother. GO NAVY!!
congrats to 45k Terry
Thanks for making it possible Monika!

Reminds me of the bad old days before Grab when you had to negotiate a bike fare every ride. First thing I do when arriving in Saigon is to head to the Viettel shop nearby and get a local sim card. Cost me 14K dong six weeks ago with 30 days access. I maily used it to hail Grab bikes with the app.
T Mobile now has a partnership with Viettel so I actually had good service, very reasonable rates without a sim card. Also, the new iphones can't take physical sims you have to get an esim.
Just a little advice if you’re interested, try to book a food tour on a bike. Hope you’d like it
I wanted to do that or the tuk tuk but just ran out of time
When you buy the Hat. The price a little different. ( pay to high because they are must pay for rent leasing. That is why (e sell the Hat too hight
Vietnamese is a tonal language. The tones are rising, falling, bottom sound, wavy, and question mark. Same word in English can have at least five different meanings.

The guy on the bike is from north VN his accent is northern VN , he is bad , he want to take you to prostitute and overcharge you , you need Grab app in VN , everyone used Grab as it’s reliable and not overcharge . All you do is show them the address on your phone . Ben Thanh market is a place where everything are over price , Vietnamese expat avoid to go there because if they bargain usually they get insult and swearing from seller . Walking in VN is just walk , don’t run or stop , cars motor bike will go around you , the more you scare is the more danger you do to yourself . Enjoy your stay in VN
Hey Terry! According to your experience which country you likd the most!? Vietnam or Thailand
Wow not sure I can pick one. I love them both for some of the same but also different reasons. I'd honestly say it's a 2 way tie
@@BarefootVlogger it seems like vietnam is a little more "gritty" than thailad. i haven't been to either, but i'm intrigued by both places.
@@BarefootVloggera tie?? 😮😢😢😢😭😭😭
Binh Thanh market, u are paying Tourist price, which is 2x
Be careful, squeezing fruit into a drink like you did in that Coke at the hotel if you carefully squeeze and don’t drive it in because they may have not washed it or they washed it with city tapwater.
Don’t eat nothing you don’t wash and peel yourself. A strawberry is totally off the charts for being possibly dirty because they rinse the sand off them with tapwater. Salads can also be rough because they rinse them with tapwater when I’m traveling I try to eat everything cooked and if I do get fruit, I buy it at a market, and I wash it myself with water that I filtered myself through a Sawyer Mini water filter back at my room.
Another thing you can do to avoid travelers belly is take the proper travelers probiotics if you do get sick up on the probiotic it lessons the effect of the sickness.
Thanks Mike. I ate as normal for the most part and thankfully was ok
The status by the river is Vietnam King, not Chinese King.

Đó là vị vua của Việt Nam, tên ông ấy là Trần Hưng Đạo, ( Quang Trung)
Cảm ơn
You are so wrong , go back and learn viet nam history .

"Never let 'em see you sweat"😅

Cyclo guy ripped you off a bit but it is ok.
24:03 Vietnam is the oldest communist country today. Russia has not been a communist country since 1991.
I'm from America. You like America? 😂😅
Is bringing this thing up all the time really that important to Americans? 😂
Relax! Many Americans are concerned they may not be liked in other countries, especially places we have been at war in or with. People need to understand that the people in America are kind and friendly, but do not have any more control over our government than anybody in any other country. It is the rich, and greedy who make those decisions, and the people suffer for it. Peace to you, in Jesus name!
I don't know but it's important to me. If you saw some of the comments I get you'd ask that question a lot more
I guess you were absent the years they taught history class.
