Thank you so much Connie! 🙏
Amazing but scary… crazy how they drive there scooters! You really show the real life there! Glad seeing it thru your eyes!!!!!
Thanks for watching lh!
I miss the smiles of the people in my homecity 🥰
They are very uplifting
HEY! I want you back in Florida covering SPRING BREAK !!!! I LOVED watching you last year !
Not so easy to get down there anymore since they jacked up parking prices to $100 but I'll try.
Thanks Terry for sharing your adventures
Thanks for joining me Patricia!
They all smile 🥰 I love it
Great video 😊definitely a place on my list within the next few years ! I love going to places where it’s predominantly smiling faces !
I had some great adventures there. You will love it!
lots of good folks there, I love the temples so beautiful
I met good folks almost everywhere I went. Loved it
The people of the countries are friendly and welcoming but the governments that’s the problem.
Exciting vlog!!! People seem friendly once you start conversing with them. Keep up these exciting tours 😅.
I found the land of smiles to be just that. People were kind and engaging. Thanks!
Great video. A true adventurer.
Thanks Rick!
just complete watching the video, sounds like Vietnam now ready to getting the 2nd phase of fast development versus last decade.
I semi retired to Vietnam in 2007 took the train north from Saigon many times as I fancied buying/building a house in Nha Trang for the beach. But every plot seller thought I wanted to build a sky scrapper hotel and so priced his plot for one.
Bought on a new development plot that only had roads and services and had my house built, build of the plots is progressing at a snails pace which is OK by me. I meet with the locals once a week for pot luck suppers, but always have cheese and bread as a fall back as rats and other meats find there way onto the table. I do try but wash it down with a dozen Saigon beers. I drive an SUV as they give a bit more sight in front, we need that to miss the Honda with a sow on the back. Lived in Saigon while searching for a plot and overseeing the build of my place, I spent my lived in construction around the world so a house was easy.
I now only visit Saigon for holidays or large shopping buys, my wife can get all she won't in the local market, plus we have many different types of fruit trees. During covid we shared our crops with neighbors in exchange for veg. A neighbor calls by at sunset he brings home grown peanuts and I supply the beer. We closed the street in mid April to celebrate my 79th birthday with 100 guests most bringing a case of beer, some flowers and lots of cakes.
Much prefer the country life to the constant horn blowing of Saigon, but it does have it's back alley charm away from the tourist traps.
Yup. I've been in Vietnam for 10 years. We also prefer province living over Saigon. We live in Binh Duong so we can still get to D1 in 45 minutes as long as you don't go during rush hour. Its much quieter out here.
good cinematography, good interactions and you seem to go to places where tourists don't go.... love your videos
Thank you! 🙏
Terry, Vietnamese people are very friendly and always eager to help. I am so glad you were able to experience Saigon on foot. The only way to experience a new city. I hope you will have a chance to visit Vung Tau, Da Bang, Nha Trang, Hue (Hoi An), Tan Binh (Kong film, and Ha Long Bay on land).
I did manage to get to a few. I agree. The people I was fortunate to meet were kind and helpful at every turn. Stay tuned my friend.
Vung Tau is great. When I lived in Saigon, I go to Vung Tau almost every weekend. I think you should visit in the middle of week (it is so peaceful and relaxing) not weekend because VT is too crowded in the weekend
thanks Terry😊😊😊
Awesome walk!
Thanks Mac!
the Barefoot Trespasser! what a trip you're having!
lol there were no signs Charley, thanks!
The statue you were looking at in the shrine I believe was of the famous monk who lit himself on fire during a protest during the Vietnam war. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that was what it was.
Great stream.
Thanks brother
Even though I’m Vietnamese your video is amazing sir, a lot of adventures here. Life is adventure. Love your videos so much
You made my day! 🙏🏻
Yes. Trust use google translator anything you don’t understand 😂
I just found your channel. Amazing!
Like you said in another one of your videos, "This aint Disneyland"😄 Good stuff.
Thank you my friend!
Good morning Vietnam
My friend please be safe: we enjoyed the video..
Thanks Alfonso!
U r truly welcome
Hey Terry, I love your videos. You're brave man! I wish I could be with you in Vietnam so I could help you as your translator or teaching you some Vietnamese. Much appreciated, Terry!
Thanks Tony! Maybe next time I'm there brother
Barefoot your a man of adventure , No way would I do that walk , You must be young at heart ..Some if the people in Vietnam must have negative feelings about America. or Not they seem to be very friendly ...
Thanks Richard. I wasn't there very long but no one I met expressed any ill feelings toward Americans I'm glad to say. With the exception of the waiter at that first restaurant, everyone was kind and friendly
There is so many scooters , Vietnam has heavy rains like Florida. yes it is no fun to ride in the rain on a road bike, ebike scooter or motorcycle ...Rain gear helps
Terry not too many people in city drink Moon shine can't wait to see more video from Da nang
I believe it K Tann! It wasn't so easy to find
The statue is the monk set himself on fire to protest President Ngô Đình Diệm back in the 60s.
Love your videos, from Europe, I havent been back to my home almost forever. The statue of the man you see was Thich Quang Duc, the self-immolated monk. He lit himself on fire with gasoline in a demonstration against the CIA-backed South Vietnamese tyranny government.
In Vietnam, people don't hate Americans for the war, but they do oppose certain US presidents (especially Richard Nixon - calling him a war criminal). We welcomed almost every US presidents throughout 20 & 21st century (even Teddy Roosevelt had his own homestay on the mountains of Vietnam for his elephant hunting trips in Asia).
Yeah I think you can check that out. One of the popular tours organizing in the States is the Veteran's Battlefield Tour. Veterans are taken back to Vietnam to treat PTSD & meet their former enemies for final closure. So following Americans' tracks is also good to look into I suppose?
Thank you for the kind words and information my friend. It's certainly a sad history. I must say as an American that not one person I came across young or old showed me any resentment whatsoever in any part of Vietnam.
AllI can add is, Google translate is your friend. ❤❤... I forgot one thing, Awesome!
Thank you! 🙏
@35:55 I know where that is. I used to live 2 minutes walk from there. Lol
The pasta dish you had at the beefsteak place is called “nui” - derived from the French word “nouille” (noodle)
Glad that you enjoyed it despite it being on the sweet side for a savoury dish.
Side note. U passed by temple which memories Thích Quảng Đức was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who died by self-immolation at a busy Saigon road intersection on 11 June 1963. Quảng Đức was protesting against the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government of Ngô Đình Diệm, a staunch Roman Catholic.
Terry, just watching your Vietnam vlog. Holy S (you know what) , you are one adventerous dude walking those backroad alleys and tracks. Watch out for “Lady Boy” we love you long time 😂. Bill in Baltimore.
Haha thanks Bill!
Be careful and don’t walk on tracks but have fun and remember to be streetwise. Come up to BOSTON MA USA in late May , JUNE, or September, OCTOBER? 🇺🇸😎☘️😝
This is a very beautiful video! Wish more people (American) just slow down a bit and appreciate the world like Terry. The cigarette seller can speak English!
Thanks BS🙏
Saigon the big city , different cultures..
You’re Tom Sawyer sir ❤
My man I've got to give you props. I've seen you walk little Haiti and that's not something many South Floridians would do and from there you've grown and you're walking the backstreets of Thailand that's definitely not something most TH-camrs do. Onward and upward brother 👏🏻🙌
Thanks Paul! Life's about the experiences. Trying to catch as many as I can.
Phat Ba Quan Am is the famous Buddha that helps you when you need hope. You should get her emblem to go along with the one you got from Thailand. She will guide you when you are lost, and she will bring you hope when you have none. She is the only one i pray to at night to keep my family safe and sound.
Wow, thanks for letting me know, Jason! I will try to find her amulet on my next trip 🙏
U R brave man👋
Not really, just jumping in the deep end of the pool. Thanks Ha!
1974 50 years ago US marines first div military police assigned US embassy I can not believe how much change Is there still the French quarter I believe it was 5 blocks from the us embassy
Wow, I'd love to share a beer with you brother. Thanks for your service
It is said Thailand is the land of smiles. Somehow, I think they have Thailand and Vietnam mixed up. PS: Loved this video to the point I am seriously considering visiting the place.
Tuyệt vời ❤❤❤
Rất vui vì bạn đã thích nó!🙏
thumbs up for all your hard work & definately subscribe for the valuable adventures. thank you
Thanks for the kind words Tammy and thanks for subscribing!
@@BarefootVlogger very kind of you to bring joys & happiness to Vietnamese. God bless🙏
Thank you! 🙏
A Vietnamese woman offered you some watermelon. She said would you like some watermelon (Dưa Hấu) in Vietnamese, it seems you don't understand. Why don't you use Google translation when travelling in Vietnam as 4G Internet of Vietnam has covered almost 99% of the territory. You can use the Google Translation Photo feature to read Vietnamese menus or street signs or the Google Translation Voice feature to communicate two-way with local people in English and Vietnamese vice versa. You have a smartphone in your hand but don't fully utilize its Google translation features.
You're right, but don't forget I'm filming, so it's not always easy.
Oh my goodness! Terry, i LOVE your channel!!
Music to my ears Eva Marie! 🙏
Great job of really digging into the local day to day lives. Vietnam is such an amazing place. I know you are going to keep discovering wild and wonderful experiences there. By the way the monument at the beginning was for a buddhist monk Thich Quảng Đức'who self immolated in protest to the oppression of Buddhists by then president Diem in the early 60's. He is very revered by many. I learned that from a scooter tour I took when I was there. Keep up the great content.
Thank you Dave!🙏

😀
lol wrong one
Ruou Can is not available in saigon. It is north central region wine. no wonder you can't find it. You are in the south, you need to tell them ruou de, rice wine.
How come you do not have an external battery, this way you won’t need to worry about your battery running down. For a back up. Good job keep it up.
Good
😊❤❤
Woooow❤...pls visit the Philippines . Tnx
I can't wait to go to the Philippines. It will happen, stay tuned! Thanks Jessica
That's really 💯 %100 Sàigòn before 1975 on the besides did You walk around Sàigòn
Thanks, yes I did plenty of walking through Saigon stay tuned and check out the other videos
Google translate will do wonders when you have problems with pronunciation with the language. I live in Boynton Beach, north or Miami, so can relate to some of your references (Brightline, etc...) Have fun over there.
the word "Ruou" is pronounced like "ziou". R is pronounced as a Z sound. It means liquour or really rice whiskey.
You are sooooooo nice,! Good man ❤
“Eat your heart out Brightline” 😂😂😂
google translation would helps a lot.
You brave Soul Barefoot my aunt Nyguen speak Vietameses. I do not understand a word She sauds🍚😂
Maybe she can teach us both?

I think that was bottle #2 for her 😂🤪😵💫😵
Hello terry
Hey Johnny!
Chinese, Vietnamese,Cham ... all the Culture ..in Saigon
3:55 Is the memorial to the Buddhist monk who covered himself in gasoline and lit himself on fire similar to what happened in the USA a few weeks back in front of Israeli embassy.
This monk lit himself back in 63 at that location in protest over the American puppet regime in power in Saigon.
The leaders were Catholic and they didn’t treat the Buddhist very well
Thanks for the information. I usually pride myself on researching places and landmarks before I start a journey but sometimes I'm just pressed for time.
Saigon easy to go with Motorbike , Bussiss everywhere nobody Hungry....
RƯỢU CẦN... Ở TÂY NGUYÊN
Tôi sẽ ngủ nhiều ngày
Man, watching you cross the road got my blood pressure racing. You just walk slowly across. They will dodge you. If you run, they have no time to dodge.
absolutely, don't run.
😂
Pasta bolognese?
Sure looked like it. Just add a dash of sugar lol
Ask for "ruu day" which is 100 proof rice wine (English pronounciation). Your Vietnamese is going to take a lot of work. Learn to use Google Translate.
You’re crazy lol be careful 😂
use google translate
Just walk, don’t run when crossing Vietnam streets. Use google translator would be better than trying to speak Vietnamese.
Good advice. I like to try to at least say a few common words when I'm visiting another country.
You are one brave person 🤣. But you lived to tell it and that’s awesome! 😁
i don't see overweight people......
Terry how would you compare Vietnamese girls to Thai girls ?
you say wrong and Vietnamese people don't have many people know english😊
Speaking wrong pronunciation….
His pronunciation is very bad. 😂😂😂
How to say the word 'Rượu' (Wine) ? Vietanmese people can easily understand Northern and Southern accent, but Northern accent is difficult to study and Southern accent is much easier. As an American, you can pronounce the word 'Rượu' as 'Rou' with a low tone (as Southern Vietnamese), which is the easiest way for non-native speakers.
ruu like kangaroo
