- Landing on the USS Bataan in the Atlantic Ocean on a helicopter, I spend a full day at sea aboard an Amphibious Assault Ship as it makes its way into Port Miami for Fleet Week 2024, take a full tour of the ship, with the incredible view from the Flight Deck as the sailors are manning the rails and we head into the Port of Miami.

Wow…I use to be a rider with the Marines as a Corpsman in the late 90’s!…man brings back memories…Manning the rails can be emotional for me at times. After representing our strength on foreign shores to defend freedom and democracy, even though we are not perfect ourselves as Americans, we protect the ideas that made our nation great. It means we are home, perhaps not all of us made it back and we honor their sacrifices and their families’ sacrifices …we are home. Thanks for bringing the memories back, the pride we had when we once wore the uniform and carry the burden that comes with it. Good luck to your son Barefoot! He’s with the strongest finest Navy in the world…United States Navy! Hooyah!

Being a Marine back in 88-95 I remember the first class of this ship. The USS Wasp which was the flag ship of our MEU. I was on the USS Sumter. A very small ship meant to beach itself in shallow waters. Our gear was not as high speed as this is but, civilians are very naïve to what we really do and what we wear into combat.

Phenomenal video. When you are up on the deck it doesn’t seem anywhere as massive as that well area.
It's hard to tell from the video but the flight deck was a good size. I can't imagine how big an aircraft carriers must be because these assault ships are much smaller. Thanks for all your kind words and support brother!!

Why does the United States have such a large army? Why are there so many ships, submarines and military bases in a country where people live on the streets in tents and cannot pay insurance, taxes and medical bills?🤷♂️

this should be the one that take part of recently held balikatan 2024 in philippines or at least a port visit. this will be something to filipinos as a us warship named after a province of the philippines.

My son was deployed on this shop for extended deployment. It is so interesting to see how he and all the other sailors and marines live. We owe them so much.

My husband served on the enterprise. Not sure of spelling. He served during the Vietnam War. Ive always wondered what the ships would look like. Ive lost him do to agent orange. A.L.S. but im so proud of him and thankyou for taking us on this tour.

My father survived The Bataan Death March. Mom was a nurse and helped him recover. Dad died a couple of weeks after his 99th birthday. ❤

Very cool Betty! Same here. I've never served, but dad's a Korean War Vet, Grandpa was wounded in action in the famous Battle of the Lost Battalion in WWI and now my son is an Air Traffic Controller in the Navy.

We spend on average 3-4% of our GDP on the military. The military isn't the problem.
