    After lots of searching, I found a butter knife solution that saved me! My printer had a cartridge jam error after I installed brand new ink cartridges. The entire cartridge was completely stuck on the right side of the printer where I could not access it. After reading many forums, I found out that the issue was that the ink cartridges were slightly misaligned which cause the whole thing to be stuck. I ended up using my fingers, a butter knife, and a popsicle stick to reach into the right side of the printer where the cartridge was stuck, and was able to press the ink cartridges back slightly which finally allowed me to slide it left so that I could finally access the ink cartridges again. I removed and reinstalled the ink cartridges multiple times. I continued to get an error that one of the cartridges was missing, so made sure to wipe down the brass electrical plates on each cartridge, clean out the areas where the ink comes out, and even wiggled the springs where each ink cartridge connected into the printer. I gently reinstalled Finally, after multiple tries and many months of not having a printer, this worked!

    The printer has a stuck cartridge cradle that is on the right side. We have tried many solutions to correct this but it has not worked. The symbol ! is blinking when printer is on. Looking for a solution to this issue. Thank you.

    Removing a tight paper jam from above, I apparently grabbed the plastic strip that goes through center of carriage and pulled it off its left attachment. I see no hook as on the right, just a little hole in end of strip which is intact.. Did an attachment part fall below? I removed the strip, but it does not want to move the carriage though I can slide it left right and belt looks ok. Reboots show "carriage cannot move" message-though it did move full span very quickly and stopped. what now?

    • @HPSupport
      @HPSupport  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LitheFider It sounds like you have detached the encoder strip which is the piece that "speaks" to the carriage. If the encoder strip is no longer attached, the carriage is not receiving its instructions, thereby giving you the message that you are seeing. I recommend that you contact HP Technical Support. To contact Support please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call. It may help speed up the call process.
      Step 1. Click on the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
      Step 2. Enter Product number or select the auto detection
      Step 3. Scroll down to ‘Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options’
      Step 4. Scroll down and click on ‘HP contact options’
      Step 5. Click on ‘Get phone number’
      Case number and phone number appear.

      Thank you for the reply! :) Yes we know the encoder strip came off, and we can see how it attaches on the right side, but we can not see where it attaches on the left. The tangs on the strip are intact. Do you have a diagram or instructions on how to install the encoder strip? (As I am sure we could do it if we knew where it attaches on the left) Would technical support be able to help with that? Thank you!

      +LitheFider I wish I could give you instructions, but there aren't any instructions available for reattaching the encoder strip. Technical support will review what options are available.

    Tried all with the exception of contacting HP customer support. Didn't work. The printer still displays the same message. Didn't contact them because had a zone cartridge problem for my hp 8600 pro printer when hp started instituting zones. Have different zone cartridges in the printer and from 2018 to up until now that remain unsolved. So I think it would be useless contacting them with this problem.
