Hello🤝 this is what happens when you repair someone else's work, you have to wonder what our previous repairman did. Amazing repair.👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋
Best part of being a technician.
Other shop cannot do it, but you solve it.
Need to charge extra penny for this job 😊.
Awesome Repair sorin ❤
I can only give one thumb up?!
This is craaazy!
Hello, very very good job thanks for you a lot
Genius
i watched this video and found the adverts went to 60 seconds wher eother vidios was10 seconds like your wor vidios mt
Electronics Repair School... We fix your motherboards layer by layer... 😎😎
is 4 am and i was supposed to go to sleep 2 hours ago, i just couldn't keep my eyes off of this one, what thriller sorin, better than any marvel movie
Because sorin is not woke rubbish!
haha true :)

✅Sorin with Burned Finger
Wow most would of given up on this I think, but not Sorin. Getting that tiny track half way down the layers exposed and then micro soldering was very skilful. Learning so much from these videos ...Excellent repair! 👍
The first person who soldered the charging port didn't do it correctly - IE: There was no solder in the two tiny holes - Sorin told himself for some mysterious reason that this laptop has no charger ID Pin - But it did/has - All he had to do was put solder into those two tiny holes and solder the charging port back properly.
it's amazing he found the issue but that's not micro soldering.... that's another level of skill, different mentality and different equipment is required.
Wow. Great work Sorin. I guess the lesson is to never assume the guy who looked at it before me did a good job and there's always a possibility that he made it worse than it already was!
At the beginning of the video he was like "This is a very expensive laptop" and later he was drilling holes in the motherboard searching for one track. Unbelievable. Mr. Sorin is legendary :)
Sorin is the best lol
@Tribes11 yep, I read your comment and just about crawped myself, funny shit!! Gotta luv him, and this is TRADE IS somewhat new to me, but I am learning from him!! Thanks a million!!
exactly my view
he's my electronic's hero
Great fix. These are exactly like modern cars where they over complicate things for no reason. Nightmare.
For the past 5 years I've been watching this Channel, this is by far the hardest repair I've seen. I mean how am I to know Gate and source are allowed to shorted together for some strange reasons.
I'm really glad you were able to retrace your steps and fix the laptop. This repair is made for legends only not for people like us.
I'm sure the mobo designer was biting his finger hoping don't find that ID pin. 😂
The (intentionally) shorted mosfet took you into a rabbit hole, but your experience and proper logic thinking got you out of it.Well done Sorin, many would have drowned there!
amazing repair sorin ....a totally epic repair ...so proud of sorin that we have him in the uk ...sherlock holmes of track finding ....
Proper resilience my friend
Even though it was a lot of failed attempts, this is truly invaluable information that would only come from someone taking a lot of time to fix this
This repair deserves a whole pizza factory now
Just revived my dead SPA942 IP phone thanks to binge watching Sorin for the last few years. I opened the board and found that the phone received only 3.5V from the 5V 1.2A adapter. So I took my bench supply and fed the phone 5V 1.2A and the phone worked perfectly. Took an old micro USB adapter, rewired and my IP phone works like new and my adapter now has a longer cable and more wattage. Thank you Sorin!
he went full doctor mode on this one 😁
Sorin sounds like a different person at 4am
Wow sorin the great job bro
No schematic no anything
Don't worry sorin is here 😂
Calibrated wire 😂💪💪
Sorin will drill to any level to finish the Job....Wonderfull Job...
Actually at 30:42, on screen charging sign appears while you work with charging port. For a very short time
Just unbelievable.... Drilling deep like a proper forensic expert. wow 😮. Wonderful Fix.
Moral of this story: Don't touch any chips at 4 in the morning when you ar pushing current 🤪
Felicitari, imi place ca esti atent la detalii ,un detaliu mic poate rezolva o problema mare :)
this customer is very lucky to have someone like you.
Sorin, proper hard job but u win at the end bkz u never give up!!! make it a habit from now on not to take jobs of previous (bad) repairs, its a too big risk, imagine one day u cannot fix it and pay the price, (over 4000,- that this laptop costs) but so far ur still the king of dead/butchered laptops LOL
hahahaha lol nice job sir... excellent....thanks much ive learn so much from all ur videos... God Bless You... More Power... from Zamboanga city Philippines
I appreciate you showing the entire repair process including the falures and backtracking. One of the best repair videos I have watched, I was rooting for you the whole time!
This is why almost all repair shops, including the Brands say ´´It is damaged beyond repair´´....!!!! Great video.
I accept your words (14:30 - 17:00) as a technician. We are at a heavy risk each time, we encounter a repair where something might go wrong beyond our control. I too was charging a very low price for repairs. As you said, I did not value my repair skills, I was charging lower prices. If a dead motherboard is received for repair we need not worry about the mistakes that we make while repairing, cuz, it is already in no power condition. Recently, I received a laptop that works fine only the problem was the DVD drive was not detected. Usually, I'm very careful in handling motherboard with voltages, I don't step my foot on the ground while checking with voltage. However, when I tried to measure the voltage on the DVD SATA connector of 5V Run power. The probe mistakenly slipped and shorted 5VS supply line and data line of SoC. The result was a catastrophe. High voltage with high current hit SOC. Now I have to replace the SOC or motherboard. I was really upset about the mistake and costs me 300$ to change SOC. After watching your video I realized, that I should charge high for these repairs depending on the expensiveness of the laptop. Thanks for your advice
14:32 In fact its price maxes up to 7K GBP :)
This is exactly the computer I want to buy when I go to university. I was so scared when you started drilling into the board looking for something you didn't know existed. Can you explain the differences between Rosin, Flux, solder paste, and when/why you use them. Most other people use the Amtech NC-559, have you used that?
Hey sorin, just curious what is the purpose of the "comeback" MOSFET?
P.S. Wow sorin just wow. The trick you did with heating up possible associated drivers of that problem mosfet, to increase the resistance of the circuit and seeing how that effects the short between the gate/drain - blew my mind.
One of my last jobs before I moved from the US was an older man with a dead bios battery in a laptop, you could see the battery removing the hard drive cover, but you couldn't get to it.
I told him $70, and I would split the case, replace the battery and repast CPU and clean the fan, he got all upset and said,"that's outrageous".
Handed him his laptop and said thanks for stopping by. (gtfo) politely. People are interesting, that's a fact.
This board just received the award of the most cr@ppy design!
Whoever designed it, should apply to Apple...
Thank you for this amazing video and for sharing your train of thought with us. I'm curious how hard would it be to find the other end of that track and put a jump wire instead?
It must surface somewhere nearby, or go to one of the power control chips?
Dang I knew it would happen.. a haunted mother board.. But leave it to the magician to get it beaten into shape! well done! It is stupid.. but anything to make sure they throw it away and buy another.. greed greed greed..
Whenever one mentions low melt solder I think of solder that has high bismuth content and remains liquid and aids in removing charging ports etc. Low melt solder has less lead and should not be used as final soldering since it is more brittle than normal solder. For ports I would get rid of all the old solder put the port in and ensure it is siting flush with the board. That way you ensure that the solder on the ground legs flow all the way through and makes a secure bond with both sides of the board. Maybe it is just me.
Sorin, now that is properly callibrated insane job for you and a nail bitting video for us, isn't it.
Great repair, learned a lot, I’m glad you don’t skip any parts of the repair process! Thanns
so the charger port is actually not broken, but the guy who change the charger port broke it or broke the pad, because the original fault was the mosfet or the chip
Well done Sorin. you never gave up and finally got the work done. That's super amazing!
OMG , Sorin basically dont want to see any tired motherboard even if it needs some drilling
Poor repair people are the bane of my life and they cause more problems than they solve. I've had countless laptops come in for repair that have melted or missing bits and I have to show the customer the problem before I start any repairs. I have even returned some machines because the damage caused by previous repairs is so bad. I always charge for repairs and I'm not cheap on my hourly rate but I am careful and I am fairly good after 20+ years in the business. I still get the odd surprise every now and again but most fixes follow a pattern I've seen at one time or another.
Yesterday i've got same fault, gate short with source but when remove is ok, i soldered and is ok, plugin and short. I've ordered chip. Zbook 17 g3
Chip for 3.3v 5v and short superio only.
I'm really curious to know where the track of that pin go to connect...
Say hello to my little friend 😂
that ground pin is for checking the charger is connected all the way in, if you just plug loose the charger it will not work, because a loose connection and high amperage is no good can melt the board
Makes sense. I'm guessing it's driving a pin of some ic low to signal the charging circuit to work since it takes the highest current. Do you know which ic typically controls this?
@@johnbaker26 no clue, i know it exist but don't have any schematics of a board with it, i will think is for the EC to control it but how i don't know
Wow , I'm Out of Words !! Amazing and by far the hardest & complex maintainance we ever seen from Master Sorin !! Hats Off Sirr 👏👏
Now THAT is perseverance! Well done Sorin
That’s a proper rabbit hole, proper hole. Don’t think I would have solved this one at all. Nice job, and now you can sleep 😂. Reason for the funky pin ? Outside just F ing with us ?
Great fix Sorin!
If it was a proper nice laptop it would not have to come in for repair 😉
What a marathon troubleshooting session! Some technicians create more problems than they solve, giving you more work. Nice save Sorin.
thats was job i wish to never have :D too much time to work on something when problem is that simple. probably guy who removed port he also damaged that track....
How ironic. What are the chances I actually have an Asus in right now doing the exact same thing. Drawing 30 milliamps but not turning on or charging I'm going to get in tomorrow morning and check to see if that's pin is making connection
Let us know if it was the extra pin
I laughed at every failure remembering myself 😅
ur the best
The 2 small pin need to be soldered to the board. Hence the solder tin will connect it to the ground. I believe those 2 pin is connected with charging circuit. Happened to me once with msi laptop
That was a bloody hard repair job. Not many would have got to the culprit. Well done Sorin. Your a hero 💪
Proper high level repair. Congratulations !
That was a complex repair, Sorin. Well... detection of points of "shorts" from injection of V to that shorted MOSFET replacement below the battery.
Great job.
🌏🇦🇺
fokn awesome mi frend, proper hard one hehehe
that was simply work of art, thank you sorin
This really was a work of Proart😂
Incredible job here Sorin! Wooooow..this was reallt hard. But you are a real detective.
Well done Master!🎉❤
sorin you have skills 👏👏
Epic job, nicely done.
proper calibrated id pin.
YOU have work on this various laptop computers since 2013-2024 damn dude you are one to trust-DLH
Ați putea scrie o carte !
Excellent work! Highly Intricate, I presume you disconnect the power when grinding them layers?, LOL
Awesome Job!... This was a crazy one, but the beautiful thing is you never gave up... You Won!... "We have Charging!"
Hi Sorin, regarding the main power rail input MOSFETs, it is always the case the gate must be 25Volt or it's only with specific laptops? The knowledge you share is priceless
Like Share Subscribe ..... LSS. go for 400K subscriber. this is hard work , we can`t just watch and do nothing . LikeShareSubscribe
you know what... I have the exact same problem asking for money like yours... even it's 20 years passed my first attempt on repairs, I still can't ask for the right amount of money, I always fear that maybe if i say something higher they cancel the job... damn this lack of self confidence. it rubbed me my whole life !!!
Excellent. Maybe the start point is to follow the link from charger to computer, instead of going into the motherboard. Great job. You obviously know how to repair computers.
i'm no repair guy but in the middle of video i'm starting to suspect a problem with the PCB. PC laptop industry should do something about this charging port problem, high end laptops should have something similar to Apple's Magsafe.
great work. realy hard job.
Its me or two pins on that burned M2 sockets are sticking together?
Also, holly damn they seriously mess their lives and ours with stupid ideas like that additional connector to detect charging... like you said: If it get 19v... it should know that charger is connected...
That was a crazy repair from start to finish. Great job. Love your tenacity.
Hey Sorin your so great , fantastic work , Congrats :) even I'm not technician...
I think the fault was generated by previous repair guy. bcs the charging port was too much doggy 💀
yeah, all that wannabe repairmen......they tried to fish the money, but they cant, because there not educated enough ^^
Hot air soldering from the back i learned here, from another channel i learned to use aluminium tape instead of Kapton tape. Both tips really improved how the repair looks afterwards. ;)
Awesome job, frustrating but your perseverance paid off. The wire on the charging port seems a bit fragile, maybe an idea would be to see where it is connected to on the pcb (I do this searching with one probe on the point I know so this would be the track you exposed, and put the other probe in a ball of copper wire wool and touch the pcb part by part till I find continuity) and solder the wire to that point.
Good job mate 👍
Good job!!! It' s hard but yu' ve done it and I' ve gotten many skills from yu. Thanks Sorin
The client should use this video to ask for reparations for the bogged job the first "technician" did.
I really enjoyed watching you chase this fault down !! Great video
What probably happened is whoever removed the port the first time tore it out and took the via with the port. Seen this a lot... plenty of cowboys without enough knowledge and skill. After the via got torn out no more connection from that trace to the port pin.
Old as dirt wisdom...
A wonderful cinematic film and director. My sincere regards to your honorable person
I don't know much but I have heard a lot of things about mosfet gate capacitance. mosfet going fake short
I think this job is one of the best educationals I've seen in all the years I subscribe here, and it was when you used headcam ..looong time ago
the first guy who changed the port misused hot air or soldering iron causing the broken via (pad)
Hi Sorin, whoever replaced that charging port at computer shop he is Butcher, he is the one to blame for wasting your time, hope you charge them Arm & a Leg.
Loved this video , long videos are the highlights of this channel !
I remember some time ago you struggled with an Acer with the same prick... ahem, port.
