Having been done up like I kipper recently with a used car purchase I decided to give car vertical a go with the replacement. It's done the job brilliantly and I'm now happily driving round in a problem free ford focus. The 10% discount came in handy as well. Cheers guys 🙂
Thanks Rob for your Car Vertical link, used it to check on a car for eldest grandchild, glad I did, car was written off in June 2017 and the mileage was altered. Money well spent 👍
16:05 shows rear doors open on the dash lcd display? Could be a programming issue as it's only a 2 door. Also check the wires between door and a pillar.
Hi Rob I have an EOS. The drivers side air bag fault light, is a known common fault. It will be the yellow connector under the drivers seat, not the yellow connector from the floor well to the seat. It just needs disconnecting, cleaning with electrical contact cleaner, then reconnecting. Clear the fault and it should be fine. BTW, the official VW repair to this fault is to cut the yellow connector out, and solder the wires together, thus removing the connector completely. I've not done that on mine. You will find that it will probably fail again within a year or so, and will need cleaning again.
I had a 2007 EOS about 6 years ago Roof issues are usually the sensors as the roof comes down and won’t go back into boot. The main culprit is usually the sensor behind the driver and passenger seats near the rear passenger windows. Might need a clean or slight reposition Great little cars good fun
For anyone trying to do a caliper job like this, common on these model of cars, a new caliper off Ebay for it are only £25-35, you can rebuild them for £5-10. Because the piston rotates the ram wont work very well on it. Best way to get the pistols free if seized is to buy a wind back tool that has a hex head on the handle side and use an impact wrench on it, as it is rotating and compressing at the same time. Also clamp off the brake line and open the bleed nipple before you do it to let any internal pressure out, that may have built up from galvanic corrosion, as the caliper casting is Aluminium and the pistol and internals are Steel. For anyone that may need some help with the same issue. Also a lack of brake fluid changes have an effect.
Always a great job but my girlfriend heard me watching this and commentesd on how chilled these guys are with each other. And it's true. I'd never realised it.
Car has lost some module coding due to the flat battery (hence the MFD shows a 4 door car, not a 2 door). This is very common on the EOS and some other VWs of the same era. VCDS / VagCom can sometimes resolve this by changing the coding of the related modules but if the recoding doesn't take then often the dealer has to sort. You'll need to make sure the previous 'work' did not involve changing modules or tinkering with the coding to rule out a failed repair attempt.
On Mk5 Golfs the airbag light with a crash sensor code is often due to a dodgy connector underneath the front seats. You just have to take the connector out and solder the wires so you get a lower resistance in the circuit. Takes twenty minutes (mostly getting the seat out).
When the battery has gone flat, it's very common to get the dashboard light up like a Christmas tree. The usual fix is to clear the faults, charge the battery and restart the car. Usually puts all or most of the lights out.
Great Video as usual guys, not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the MFD is displaying back doors as if it were a 4 door (at 15:58) - something isn't right there, check programming or has the clocks been changed or MFD and or module..... I'm sure the EOS is a 2 door ;)
Funnily enough a mate is having issues with his EOS windows too. Had a motor which made no odds, now told he needs a full regulator. He's been told windows are a common weak spot on the EOS. We're just enjoying taking the mickey as we all told him to steer clear of it as it was a 2006 with some sketchy history, but his mrs was keen! I'll have to tell him about the control unit, might save him some messing about - they're a struggle to find online though
Hey Rob the windows all drop, the sun roof folds back, then the back window folds over the sun roof, it’s then all goes back into the boot and the boot closes, be aware on the back we’re the rear windows are these two flaps flip out to let it all go back into the boot hope this helps mate 😉
That window module, check it out by part number, theres a very good chance that it may be used in other cars of the VW branding including Skoda, Seat etc .
It's a lovely car fellas..one to be enjoyed in summer with the roof down..evidently the only hard top convertible with a sunroof..i found out the color of the interior is called Cornsilk Beige. Don't give up on this one...im sure eBay motors will have the parts you need. Best Regards👍
Unusual for Chris ,all he needed to do on the caliper was a small pair of stilsons on the piston worked back and forth ,bingo ,done it many times on a badly seized caliper .
Good video guys! if you don’t mind me saying I actually cringe when you put a jump pack On a long-term dead battery car! although the battery is dead it is also in a sulphated state and will have sulphate crystals shorting out the +& - plates when you apply the jump pack The short circuits in the battery can get transmitted into the car hence your immobiliser fault I have also seen sulphated batteries cause alternator failure, comfort control modules to pack up and complete mileage Erasure! (Blank screen) What I do is carry an 063 Fiesta/polo battery which is small easy to transport and will start most cars along with the jump pack if you need to, i’ve seen a lot of vehicles suffered damage because of people jumpstarting them. The door control module and airbag faults will be probably down to breaks in the wiring between the door pillar and door. It’s a common fault and the door control module will probably not be faulty
Guys, it might be worth checking Sciroccos for the window module, Eos and Scirocco share some parts and Sciroccos also do the window drop thing when opening the door. Also, as someone else has said you almost certainly have incorrect coding in a module somewhere as the instrument panel shows 4 doors. I'd suggest you get VCDS on it.
Shame the other regulators were missing on the VW in the breakers yard, I mid years ago trying to get a heater unit for a Rover 820 and every yard I went to and found a Rover someone had beat me to it, ended up straight wiring the heater so it was blowing all the time the car was running. Thanks again Chris & Rob
cheers for the vids guys, look forward to them coming out, especially on a Friday night, Ive had a hard week at work, and I look forward to a wee glass of wine on a Friday, and your vids coming out.. all the best. 🙂
Hi guys, had a simular issue, which is common with EOS when the battery goes flat, what u can try is hold the main window control up for 5sec then cycle up down, if that does not work it need to be reprogramed by a dealer as it thinks it is a 4 door vw vs 2 door. Once u fix that the roof will work
Sir, I would like to say BIG thank you because you are the reason I have started buying and selling cars. Both of you the best, honest people , much appreciated for your content !
Bloody hell that looks mint! Love black with cream interior, Looks like that rear brake has been stuck on for a while by the colour of the back wheel, hopefully it's a simple fix and someone can enjoy it again
Looks like a good car, shame those units had gone off the car at Kent Autos but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Should be a quick turnaround so long as the motor and door unit are quickly sourced. My Vivaro van stated throwing up all sorts of codes - a new battery sorted them all, seems that modern electronic systems don't like low voltages. Great video again as ever.
the windows will be blocking the roof from opening , once they go up and down the roof will work, unless there's another fault of course ... great channel btw
I changed one of those window motors on my touran, the new used one came with a new module. Strangely enough the window went the wrong way on the switch. So i took the module off my old motor and used that instead. I think the new one was from a golf. It had the same part number as mine though. Anyway consequently I have one that works sat in a box. You can have it if you like, i have no use for it. I did think about swapping the motor pins around but couldn’t be bothered. Let me know. Also vw’s awlays throw traction, abs and steering faults on flat battery. You drive them a few meters and turn the wheel they all usually clear.
Guys, you air bag light is because the door module is out. That module controls many things so unless you get an exact replica, you may need to code things like door handle and puddle lights. The roof and windows is likely the convenience unit which I think is under the passenger chair. They are again common issues on VW Audi cars and the A3, A4 and A5 cabs suffer the same issues. Battery is key is VWs. Low charge sends you on a wild goose chase.
Seen it a lot of newer cars battery dies when it’s back on throws every electrical fault light it can untill it’s had a proper run with a good charge it in.
given it's a VAG car, I had an airbag light on my Skoda when I mistakenly pulled the CANbus fuse when the engine was running instead of the aircon fuse...cleared it with the scanner after a couple of goes, but...check the engine bay fuses as an airbag light isn't always the airbag...
Hi guys. Love the channel. I had an eos before that dam nearly broke me trying to fix it. There is a module that controls roof and windows in behind boot carpet on passengers side that gets wet from water leaking due to bad design. Pins and wires corrode away.
Had one of them with airbag light on. Happened after a battery issue. Needed to reset the module itself and drive it down road to clear it. Worth a shot if you can get into the module's with your scan tool and reset.
Module in driver's door on VW group motor controls a lot of the ancillaries , I had loads of problems when my door loom went. I've also found that once VW calipers go sticky , they're toast , they'll free up then just stick again a month or two later.
Looks as though that had the flat battery problem, affecting everything for a while after a battery recovery. At least the project is progressing in the right direction, even if it is still a work-in-progress case. If a few bits can solve all the issues without breaking the bank, it looks like you have a potential winner for a flip sale. Keep them coming and keep watching your friendly breaker, you might require some tactical spares support. It is certainly not worth firing the new spare parts canon at it at the moment.
They are very similar to the Ford Focus CC. I'm Admin on the Facebook Focus CC Owners group and we have the same issues with the modules. You may find that the relay has gone in the control module. You can replace them if you are competent with soldering and can source the part. I'll be interested to see what problems you find with it. Also might be worth checking the plug connectors under the front seats for the airbag light and just make sure they are seated correctly as this can cause a light on the dash. Great video guys.
Guys check the drivers door loom to see if its chafing and cut through the impact sensor feed. I've just taken on an eos myself and my windows dont go the way they should until the roof is opened and closed. The eos seems to be an ass to get bit for like switches but mk5 golf maybe the same
I had a b7 the air bag fault light fault was a plug kept coming adrift it was under the trim for the door or pillar it was on the passenger side might help nice car lads 👍
I had a EOS, lovely car but I had nothing but electrical faults with it. In the end I got rid of it. Pleased to see back of it. Keep them videos coming boys.
I once had an EOS as a company car. The first battery died and I was given an Exide replacement which was rubbish. Warning lights everywhere. Open a door and the window went down an inch. Then it would not go up again. Open the door again and it went down another inch. Insisted on a proper new battery and after an hour or so of a light show everything sorted itself out. Very weird electrics.
With frameless doors, you may not be able to get the window shut fully from the outside without the electrics. Possibly you can push it up by hand the last little bit to engage the seal and keep the elements out? Nice car thou
Hi Chris and Rob, been watching your channel for about 18 months. Never commented before but can't wait for the 3 videos each week to see what your next project is... Anyway i have 2 VW EOS's myself both have had similar issues but now the second one is nearly ready for the road again. They are absolutely fantastic cars but they need ongoing maintenance to ensure the electrics are kept dry, roof is maintained and sealed etc. I've posted the link to the video on the VW Eos forum fingers crossed for a quick fix... All the best
Apparently just about any part number on the EOS outside of things like engine and transmission is prefixed "1Q" (which seems to be the case from a quick scan of fleabay). A mate is having window issues with an EOS right now and was complaining that EOS parts were more expensive and harder to get than any other VW bits.
Another good start to a video guys🤩. I work with someone who used to have one of these (07 plate), they had exactly the same problem with the electric windows, sticking, dropping etc. Would come out of a morning to find a window had just dropped half way during the night, how crazy is that!
Check the roof seals. They’re known to harden and fail.I used to have a pond on my drivers seat when it rained on my ‘08 plate.Nice looking car tho guys
All car systems need a good voltage Flat battery hundreds of codes on the OBD Cutting it down to just the airbag and a faulty window module is a fairly good result Mind you episode 2 might bring up a surprise or two 🙂
My sister had an 07 one of these and had same problem. When you open door the windows drop 10mm ish. Hers broke on a frosty morning when she tried to open door the windows were frozen shut and burnt the modules out.
I had an Audi A3 of similar vintage and got sick of chasing faults on it. It was like playing whack-a-mole. That says I didn't have Chris's genius either. Good luck with it.
I've been a subscriber since you had 10k of us, about 2 years ago. I started watching when you were doing the Ferrari. You need another salvage supercar! That'll give you another big boost in subscribers. My favourite TH-cam channel! 😎👍
That's surprising! I really enjoyed the Ferrari. Well, my next idea is to buy a classic car from an auction (one that's been done) and flip it for a profit. Just an idea! All the best to you, Chris and the everyone else that watches Salvage Rebuilds 👍
All of that generation volkswagen/audi/seat/skoda all seem to have an issue with rear calipers seizing. My Seat ALtea and Touran all had the same issue.
Hey guys when you strip the rear window panels of to get to the motors so you see if they are working or you need the codes of the Motors can you film i. I have one myself and both rear window motors have gone and I have to change them out but being a 2007 model it can be one of two different types. It would be nice to see how you get on keep up the great videos
Had one with issues before rob .known for water in boot. moduel harnes goes green etc.can damage module but cheap but may need to be coded.just an issue i had mite help.👍
Summer's coming - love the way you always look on the bright side! Why does the instrument panel show the rear offside door open on a 3 door car? What mileage has it done? Not sure how popular/well known hence valuable EOS's are but it should sell to an Instagram subscriber no problem. Steering wheel chrome VW logo looks worn - worth getting the one off the Kent Auto car? I appreciate you want to look at it later but if it is anything to do with the rear side window mechanism it might be worth getting the Kent Auto one before anyone else does..
Looks to be a nice little motor. Always see loads of random faults when a battery is flat. Good idea to fully charge the battery and not go chasing faults and wasting your time. Don't suppose you do commission jobs? Basically, I have a budget, would you be up for finding and fixing a specific car. 99.99% sure what the answer would be. Worth a shot though...😉
Burnt my omelette pan whilst bingeing on my favourite car show. Dedicated or what! Love the improvised solutions to challenging repairs. Great blokey banter as usual. Superb stuff.
Hi Chris and Rob, answer this please, every garage in the UK has a range rover that never gets worked on and remains in the garage as a future project, so, when are you going to break the mold and get yours done? Yes I wanna see the video of it being finished off.. Cheers guys love your channel 🍻👍🍺

Niche VW models are so hard on special parts, even if 95% of the rest of the mechanicals are Golf.
Another great video 👍
Nice one gents. Hope the roof still works! Look forward to seeing it complete 👍
I thought the Eos was based on the Golf of its day (possibly Mk5) so I assume the door electrics will be the same as the Golf at the time.
Being a convertible, I would think the module is different as it has to drop the glass to open the door.
fox cheepness polo looks.
No they will be different it was the same with e46 bmw convertible the 4dr and 2dr coupe was different as its linked with the roof.
Apparently just about any part number on the EOS outside of things like engine and transmission is prefixed "1Q" (which seems to be the case from a quick scan of fleabay). A mate is having window issues with an EOS right now and was complaining that EOS parts were more expensive and harder to get than any other VW bits.
In VW group if you want to push piston in, you have to push and turn in this same time :)
Always check the wiring loom for roof if there is any issues, during operation the stress on the loom can break wires eventually.
Another good start to a video guys🤩. I work with someone who used to have one of these (07 plate), they had exactly the same problem with the electric windows, sticking, dropping etc. Would come out of a morning to find a window had just dropped half way during the night, how crazy is that!
Did you sort it? There is a software update for the door control unit that cures the issue especially as it shows the RHR door being open on the MFD.
Check the roof seals. They’re known to harden and fail.I used to have a pond on my drivers seat when it rained on my ‘08 plate.Nice looking car tho guys
All car systems need a good voltage Flat battery hundreds of codes on the OBD Cutting it down to just the airbag and a faulty window module is a fairly good result Mind you episode 2 might bring up a surprise or two 🙂
Summer is coming!! Classic quote from the lads in a cold Jan !! Fab vid and update as always!
Can not see you struggling with this one ,nice motor 👍👍👍
My sister had an 07 one of these and had same problem.
When you open door the windows drop 10mm ish. Hers broke on a frosty morning when she tried to open door the windows were frozen shut and burnt the modules out.
Yes, lovely car. Well done for saving. Would be such a waste to have that scrapped.
My mum used to have an Eos and I thought it was a great fun car. Hope the roof gets sorted.
I think it will be very nice little car when done
Looking forward to new updates 👍👍👍
Great video with your resourcefulness I'm sure you will have this sorted in the not too distant future!
The Ferrari videos honestly were the least watched videos on the channel 👍
That's surprising! I really enjoyed the Ferrari.
Well, my next idea is to buy a classic car from an auction (one that's been done) and flip it for a profit. Just an idea! All the best to you, Chris and the everyone else that watches Salvage Rebuilds 👍
Turn the steering smoothly lock to lock & it’ll clear the lights. Driving the car would do the same 👍
Keep smiling Rob... GoodVibes
My door crash sensor was doing that on my Skoda was wire broken in rubber from door to car 👊👊
Same with mine
Keep these videos coming guys highlight of my day
I got a quote from Scofield's, We buy any car for my 2015 vauxhall combo van with 30k miles for £500. Worse than scrap yards. Avoid, Avoid.
Great videos to watch better than watching TV me and the mate watch on our tablet in our local keep up the great work
Nice VW EOS Hopefully some replacement modules will sort out the problems 👍
I think you will get the window unit easy enough Rob this is a popular motor that will make you a good wage thanks for the video Rob and a Chris. Tom
All of that generation volkswagen/audi/seat/skoda all seem to have an issue with rear calipers seizing. My Seat ALtea and Touran all had the same issue.
Great project hopefully roof doesn't give too much problem looks cold in workshop why havnt you lit that woordburner ??
Hey guys when you strip the rear window panels of to get to the motors so you see if they are working or you need the codes of the Motors can you film i. I have one myself and both rear window motors have gone and I have to change them out but being a 2007 model it can be one of two different types. It would be nice to see how you get on keep up the great videos
Another little peach !!
Am sure you two putting your heads together will sort that lovely vw out !!
Another nice looking car Rob, should be a quick fix for you guys but £100 for that window part seems a bit steep.
Great job rob and Chris always like these car challenge videos
Had one with issues before rob .known for water in boot. moduel harnes goes green etc.can damage module but cheap but may need to be coded.just an issue i had mite help.👍
Chuck a couple of old baking trays in the pickup for stuck brakes Rob 🤔👍🏻
Nice and quick project !😎🤞 keep doing them like this guys.
Hi Rob, thanks for the awesome content video, what is the name of the OBD reader that you are using, great video.
Have you checked its dry in the boot? The roof pump is usually under water.
And Chris had a dance too, legendary.
