What a transformation just giving it a wash 😍. As others have said keep it the same as the body, but colour code the bumpers too. A nice bright silver on the wheels with some trims added. Might look like a bodge job to others if it’s a totally different colour like grey or blue.
I think it is important to keep the original stripe decals for originality and just paint the white below. It might be a shade slightly different, but to be honest once the upper has been buffed, I don't think it would be really noticed. In my opinion painting a different colour is what's done when things have obviously been repaired (or bodged, which this hasn't). It's an old but really good camper, def keep it as original as possible.
I always think if the bottom half has been painted a different colour from standard it's covering something nasty up ,just my opinion, great video guys btw
@@mikebrown1040 The difference is, we are talking Salvage Rebuilds, and I'm sorry but they don't do that. I am sure they will have photo or video footage to say Chris did it right.
If it was mine, I would do the bumpers and sills in white to match the rest of the bodywork. Once the wheels are refreshed or trims put on, it will look the part 👍
Took 3.5 weeks to weld transit camper up.. The rot was everywhere... Did i care.. Paid to repair it.. So happy...... As to yours... Keep it how it came from factory.... Anything else just looks like a bodge job and you guys are pros... You turn out good motors.
Keep it white up to the stripe. We know it's been properly repaired. But normally a different colour bottom half gives the impression of a tide mark that's covering up bad stuff. White will give the impression of a really solid vehicle, which is what it is.
Hi guys l would keep it white and as original as possible it’s such a good example for its age and will look so well cared for when you have completed it looking forward to seeing Chris prep and spray it back to perfect thanks for sharing it
As many others have said the paint needs to be the same colour as the stripes. Grey or Black will just make it look like the old motors back in the day that had bottom halves full of billo pads and sploge. This van deserves more than that.
Paint the sills the same colour as the stripes, keep with the colours. Nice hubcaps on the wheels would smarten it up. Good job guys. Will be a lovely motorhome.
I quite like the idea of painting round thw arches ans sills, but I personally would keep it in as close as possible to the original colour. As potential buyers may think a different colour is hiding something. Alternatively, supply photos of the welding that can be given with the motor home, to dispel any fears. Top work, love the SRUK jetwashed on the roof! 😂
Number plate I see as "Lisa's Heaven"! I like the idea of painting front bumper grey colour up to the waistline. Two tone reminds me of VW campers from 60's, 70's and 80's.
Love the grey paint idea. Rob as a Yorkshire man I want to include Chris as an honorary Yorkshire man due to his hunt for loose change. Keep the videos coming.
This is a very nice camper. When you've finished with it, it'll be lovely. I like the sound of colour coding the lower section. Maybe a gunmetal metalic?
Thanks again Rob. I don’t think I’d do a colour change on the wheel arches. It could end up looking like someone has bodged the arches and blown them in a different colour. It wouldn’t be true but why raise a doubt? That’s my twopence worth but I’m sure it’ll be fabulous however you finish it. Another great video from you and Chris!
I think🤔you should keep the paint as standard as possible imo guys but what ever you do this will be great content and a good camper when finished Crack on!!!!
Mop polish the older paint that is not getting painted before it goes for painting and keep the bottom half White and get your spray painter to match it the best he can. Keeping the Harmony branding transfers is a better selling point at the end of the day, keep it original.
I'd prob consider same blue as the stripes, can't wait to see Chris spray this one, a full video on the painting including prep and mixing of the paint would make great content 👌👍
Camper needs to be the same blue as the in the stripe, paint the bumpers as well just to update the whole tired look, some nice alloys would be a good finishing touch
I’d paint the lower section the gold colour that’s in the side harmony stickers and paint the wheels silver, it will lift the whole van to the next level. 👍😃
A wise man once told me (my Dad) 2 tone cars looks like there hiding a multitude of sins... however at this age its got to expected. If I was to paint it I would match the blue in the decals as much as possible.
Not grey, reminds me of primer, will look like it's been primed then left like half a job, I'd keep it white as the thick stripes will detract from a slight colour miss match due to age.....
On camp sites I always get one of these next to me with an incontinent owner who has to open and close that rumbling sliding door at least once an hour to visit the toilet.
I think spraying the lower part of the camper is a good idea. It's going to be someone who watches the channel that will buy the vehicle. So they will have seen the work gone into repairing the lower sections. Just the wash alone has improved the appearance, nice one 👍🏻
Freshen up the bottom half but 100% DONT paint around the arches,it will make it look it look faked up,you might not get a perfect paint match but at the end of the day it is what it is .
So many of these have been bodged up and cheaply painted along the arch and body line over the years - I'd much prefer it if it was painted in its original colour and kept standard. There aren't many really nice original looking ones now remaining. Perhaps a trip to your local paint supplier and get them to match the paint up with a spectrometer. Clean and original spec colour scheme for me please! 🙂 👍.
Paint the lower areas with a nice darker grey colour to give contrast, also spray the wheels up in silver. Amazing what a good clean does for a motor. This is a real gem, and will give a family or a couple a lot of pleasure cruising the byways. 👍😎
Cleaned up great Rob! When you use snow foam, it’s well worth letting it dwell, then rinsing it all back off without touching it, then using another pass of the snow foam or a good quality shampoo in a bucket to clean up what remains. This way you are loosening the bonded dirt from the surface and swilling it off before laying a finger on it - makes life much easier and gives you better results with less chance of marring the paint (obviously not as necessary on older, tired paint!). Keep up the good work gents, the content has come on leaps and bounds over the years and I’m loving the consistent longer videos! 🙂👍🏻
@@sruk try blasting it off after dwelling and giving it a fresh coat to agitate next time, you’ll be surprised how much you can shift without even touching it! 👍🏻
Tip: try a magic sponge with a bit of diluted G101 or APC on all the white plastic trim (like round the toilet cassette door). It can really make a difference and loses the yellowing quite a bit.
Good idea from Chris. I had a Fiat Panda mk1 that was silver with rust patches around the bottom and knew I would never get it to match. So I rattle canned the bottom half dark blue and put a light blue pin stripe down the sides where they met and it didn't look too bad.
Hey guys always a great watch. If you just paint the archers and sills it will always look like you are trying to cover up rust repairs. Leave the stickers alone and paint it from line just below the lower sticker in a nice gloss Grey all the way round and same to the Bumpers it will look fantastic and as though meant to be that way. We can't wait to see this well done guys.
Colour code bumpers & sides back to white, will look much better than a different colour. Did the same to my Transit camper really sets it off & blends with the rest of van.
Chris/Rob To choose a colour for the sills of the camper van. Take outside all the bits of paint you had in rattle cans and then try a few sections in different colours, stand back and see which looks the best. Grey may look like primer so try a blue??
I think a dark grey would suit it but don't want to draw attention to it. Stone chip protection would be worthwhile as well. It will do somebody a turn this season especially as travel abroad is likely to continue to be problematic. Good luck guys. Thanks.
I think it would look good with bottom seals and wheel arches being Dark Blue, same colour as the stripe sticker. 😁👍👍lovely little love wagon though lol 🙌
Looks fantastic after that wash! I reckon a couple of round spot-lights in front of the grille would look great (reminiscent of an old VW Golf) and will definitely help night vision from the old lamps!
The passenger door card is hanging off at the bottom, under the internal storage tray incase you hadn't noticed. Yes paint it Audi Narlo grey...the stripes down the side are not what they appear to be...those gold lines are actually painted on. If you put some silicone spray on those vinyls they should come back like new or not as badly faded lol. Ideally you'd get a habitation check/service done on prior to selling,as most people would like the safety net of knowing everything works safely. Looking forward to seeing the next one.
That's a neat camper, never seen inside one before, very clever use of space. I think I'd be boring and keep the existing white surfaces white, make the sills white too, with dark grey for the bumpers. I know that may sound unadventurous, but I just like a nice, clean and tidy look.
Think any colour other than white would look worse than if you got a slightly off-match. Esp over the wheel arches, it'd look like you're hiding something. Just saw a few for sale and they look sweet in white with black sills, and a tidy set of wheels.
Hi guys another geat vid i would paint the bottom half and colour code the bumpers the colour blue in the stickers to match. Keep up the good work you guys do . 👍
Great clean up think Chris idea of spraying just to the lower line is right but i think the blue of the decal would look good . I would love to see Chris spray it him self. thanks

I am sure they will have photo or video footage to say Chris did it right.
Paint it in the original color including de bumpers in the front and the rear. All other colors is a waste of money and time
Agree if it looks odd, but nice if it matched one of the colours in the vinyl body stripe……
Agreed
My personal preference is to colour code the bumpers and sides in white - great job with that cleaning!
If it was mine, I would do the bumpers and sills in white to match the rest of the bodywork. Once the wheels are refreshed or trims put on, it will look the part 👍
Agree with the other comments, painting those bits a different colour will look like hidden repairs or damage.

Agree with Lord Bungle - dark blue as per the stripes
Before you sell it , you both need to do a road trip in it. It would make some brilliant content.
Paint the sills the same colour as the stripes, keep with the colours. Nice hubcaps on the wheels would smarten it up. Good job guys. Will be a lovely motorhome.

Navy blue with a silver pin stripe would look nice, to match the new decal stripes 👍
Love the grey paint idea. Rob as a Yorkshire man I want to include Chris as an honorary Yorkshire man due to his hunt for loose change. Keep the videos coming.
I think you should spray it up the same bluer colour as the stripes.
This is a very nice camper. When you've finished with it, it'll be lovely. I like the sound of colour coding the lower section. Maybe a gunmetal metalic?
Body colour I am always suspicious when the bottom is a differant colour, makes you think its hiding something.
Hi guys, colourwise. I think I would pick up the blue ish colour of the other strip, that would tie in with the carpet inside.
I think the grey would look fine and if was textured like a rock guard, it might help it some. Maybe.
Do it in white stoneguard it will look much nicer than different colour
Thanks again Rob. I don’t think I’d do a colour change on the wheel arches. It could end up looking like someone has bodged the arches and blown them in a different colour. Great minds think alike lol 😆
Came up a treat after that wash Rob, blue for the paint work for me but grey or silver would be ok as well. Looking forward to seeing it finished. 👍😁
Chris is right with his paint line and colour.
I would do the bumpers and body in white. If you do the body grey it will just look like it’s been bodged.
Hi guys, I reckon the paintwork your going to do should be the navy blue, the same color as the graphics. Good luck.
Rob, Chris that would look good with a set of alloys on that mate
A wise man once told me (my Dad) 2 tone cars looks like there hiding a multitude of sins... however at this age its got to expected. If I was to paint it I would match the blue in the decals as much as possible.
Whatever colour you do use, paint that yellowing plastic door on the rear near side
I like Chris’s idea. I also think the existing strips suit the vehicle. Matching the lower bit with the bumpers sounds good.
Don't paint around the arches, it always looks as if it's hiding arch repairs. Paint up to the swage line.
Hi Rob and Chris great little camper had that quite a while now. Think it should be painted white and can't wait to see Chris do his magic thanks
Not grey, reminds me of primer, will look like it's been primed then left like half a job, I'd keep it white as the thick stripes will detract from a slight colour miss match due to age.....
Keep it stock guys you've do the repair work Nd it deserves to be a real classic... Keep up the good work
I think you should paint it the same colour as the stickers on the side👍🏻
Yes guys.bumpers and lower all grey will smarten the old girl up a treat..a lot of cleaning that Rob.👌..different van after..
Same colour as the body stripes guys, navy blue 👍🏼
On camp sites I always get one of these next to me with an incontinent owner who has to open and close that rumbling sliding door at least once an hour to visit the toilet.
I'd just leave it white and standard. Its a 20 year old camper. A difference in shade wont matter much.
And this is the reason we love your channel guys, because is real people loving a real live and having real problems :)
I agree, Rob & Chris are two lovely guys enjoying what they do - and they do it well. Great to watch, thanks guys.
I would go for white and then you can think about the wheels.
I think spraying the lower part of the camper is a good idea. It's going to be someone who watches the channel that will buy the vehicle. So they will have seen the work gone into repairing the lower sections.
Just the wash alone has improved the appearance, nice one 👍🏻
I'd go white colour coded. Grey is dull and i wouldn't of thought increase your profit.
Freshen up the bottom half but 100% DONT paint around the arches,it will make it look it look faked up,you might not get a perfect paint match but at the end of the day it is what it is .
Keep it white and colour code the bumper white. Makes it look clean and modern. Too many colours makes it look too busy.
Blue to match colour of stripes 👊
I'd paint the bottom the same colour as the coachlines, minus the gold
So many of these have been bodged up and cheaply painted along the arch and body line over the years - I'd much prefer it if it was painted in its original colour and kept standard. I'd keep it all body colour otherwise people will think it's covering up bodge.
I think Chris has a good idea with painting the bottom and grey would look really nice.
I would do the arches and bumpers in a navy blue to match the stripes. Not sure grey would look to good.

Paint it white like the panel colour
The first time I thought Rob was working and Chris is having his time with a coffee, but no, that man can’t stop working!! He is a workaholic! 🤪

@@sruk try blasting it off after dwelling and giving it a fresh coat to agitate next time, you’ll be surprised how much you can shift without even touching it! 👍🏻

It would look better with some alloy wheels. Keep it with white, the wheels would give it a more modern look!
I honestly think that a blue similar to the blue in the stripes would look just right on that camper guys, loving the content as usual
That’s a great idea from Chris personally a light grey, silver fades.
Chris could be a voice double for Rodney from Only Fools and Horses :-)
Tip: try a magic sponge with a bit of diluted G101 or APC on all the white plastic trim (like round the toilet cassette door). It can really make a difference and loses the yellowing quite a bit.
I've seen this van done in a different cour...looked a bit dodge.....ide keep it all white lads
Gunmetal grey Rob. It has a slight hint of silver in it, should really suit the white and blue.
Original colour only option please guys! 🙏
I’d go blue to match the stripes give it a bit of cohesion.
Great video Rob!
Blue to match the carpets
Or yellow to match the headliner! 👍

Miltary paint and farm paint is good, tough paint,.. would look good in battleship grey on the bottom maybe 💯💯
