I concur. Wonderful bike. I also have a 1200GS and DRz 400. BM now to heavy for me (at 68) in the bush and the Suzi while fantastic in the bush is just uncomfortable and busy on the road getting there. The Himalayan is a cross between the too. Had my Himalayan for nearly 2000 km with no issues. Now its got a better bash plate and radiator guard. Also Bark Busters knobbies and pannier racks. Only other modification is a 12mm addition to the side stand. It goes over too far as standard. I'm now ready to head to Western Queensland and Gulf Country in two weeks. I can't wait to see how it goes when fully loaded on outback roads.

Yes, I also have a DRZ, agree with your feedback.

I have been thinking what I would do for a smaller ADV type bike that can go distances -- I loved riding my KDX 220 for local hops on the street but that nor my DT 250 obviously won't do it LOL. When I sold one of my big bikes last year, a Tiger 800 I thought I would get a Triumph 400X. Instead I detoured and bought a SAAB Viggen but coming back around to the small bike issue I'm pretty much sold on the Himalayan 450 in the next year. There is a company I can't remember that makes a super sounding can with decat/tune/air filter for it too.
PS It's called Powerage Exhaust. Nice.

Just what I needed to see, picking mine up tomorrow in perth and riding home to the Pilbara. Stoked you showed the pick up test, that eased my mind. Thanks for your video

I've got mine to about 1700km now. Mostly off road use after the 1st 500km. Its had more knobbly tyres from new. Its excellent in the bush and great on the highway. Its like having a dirt bike thats a comfy road bike as well.

Thinking about this as an upgrade for my Himalayan 411.
Liked the pick up test. Good job. I have to take one for a test ride...

    Your pickup test is marvelous!!
Weight of bikes is very subjective in that the weight doesn’t always reflect handling or pickup stress …

You are very correct. Too many people look at the figure on paper and write bikes off because of it.

Great video. Looks like it's a lot more ergonomic and comfortable then the DR650. I know.... Sacrilege..... Loved my DR.... But I want something else. This one looks like a winner.

Good on ya mate nobody else has done that jimmy WA,the suspension is for what it’s used for ,it’s got the power for hills and oper road I like the bear bike no plastic ,a bit of vibs but it’s a big single you expect that ,if your looking for refinement on vibs you better stick your hand in your pocket and pay another four grand ,the bike is raw and basic but good value

Tomorrow if you rode the CF Moto 450MT I’d be interested in n your opinion of these two bikes back to back. As we get older and look to downsize, or just have one do everything bike, these bikes become an option.

A great review, ridden like an owner rather than a test rider - sweet spot seemed 3-5000 rpm, very relaxed. We are still waiting here in uk for the tubeless versions, ordered last year and still waiting - check out - Nathanthepostman currently taking a few riders across Iceland - none ot the bikes were meant to be over 450 singles, lighter bikes and not a GS in sight. Proved we are probably being sold this world explore image when really we would be better with a non-Charlie/Ewan heavyweight GSA.
Will be my 'second bike' alongside a bmw r1200RS and after on 30 mins test ride two months ago there is nothing making me feel I have 'come down' to a smaller bike, just as comfortable, plenty of room and hoping for a delivery this month.
Your pick up test should be a standard for all test rides, nice to see how it could be laid down without issue as well as you easy return to the sidestand.
Never felt I could buy the GS, let alone a GSA, for that same pick up issue, although the bmw does help with those boxer engines having had to pick up my R1200R in Lillehammer (carpark gravel in Norway caught me out - no damage, except pride!)

Hi. The Kamet white tubeless are an available in UK. I have had mine 3 weeks now. The black tubeless are not available. Chap at RE told me they are having problems anodising the gold wheels with the external spokes needed on the tubeless.
