Step 9: Join the round, attach the second colour, chain 2, then double crochet 4 rounds, increasing 2 stitches per round. Step 10: Mark the space needed for your dogs legs to poke through the sweater with yarn. Step 11: After 4 rounds of double crochet, cut yarn and tie off Step 12: At the first marker, chain 2, then double crochet to the second marker Step 13: At the second marker, chain 2, turn your work and double crochet back to the first Step 14: After 2 rows, chain stitch the number of stitches you left empty for leg room Step 15: When the chain reaches the other side, attach it to the corner with a slip stitch Step 16: Chain 2, then working in the round, double crochet 6 more rounds with no increases Step 17: When rounds are complete, cut and tie yarn off Step 18: Attach yarn 3cm in from the edge of the leg gap, chain 2 then ½ double crochet around until you get to 3cm from the other side of the leg gap Step 19: ½ double crochet for 4 rows total Step 20: Change yarn, chain 1 and do 4 rows of single crochet in the back loop of the stitch only Step 21: on the last row, single crochet through both loops (to make the row more dense/tight)
Maggie O'Connor so am I gonna crochet in the back loops only all the way until the last row of the pattern? And would you please tell me how to make 2 leg holes instead of one,? or will I mess up the count of the rest of the pattern? Tia
Just a note - maybe someone has said this, but definitely use the proper size crochet hook or know you're taking this into your own hands (at whatever skill level you're at, I'm a intermediate/beginner). I only own one crochet hook, so I figured I'd just try it and see if I could eyeball things and it didn't go so well, but it did still work. I ended up undoing a bunch and redoing it and also changing the type of stiches I was doing (going very off-pattern). It's a good template to start with if you're in my position, just know it won't be simple. I can't wait to try this properly soon!
Heavy agree on this this is my first project and also my first time really crocheting I’m switching from knitting so this is definitely a struggle but so far looks great!
Just started crocheting 2 days ago and this is my first project,so easy to understand love it.i always take my wiener dog on a walk he has shirt fur so gets really cold this is a perfect sweater for him
Wow, beautiful job and I love the way you made the space for his legs which makes it easier on your pet to get his legs thru, much better than trying to get their legs thru a little hole. The sweater is the best and so is your video, thanks 😊👍
Your puppy is so sweet and agreeable! The sweater is really cute! My baby is having a hair cut and bath tomorrow and will need a sweater to keep her warm. Thanks for the pattern and video!
I love how sweet your little Chi is!! My little girl tolerates the fittings, but then, she's a cranky old lady (she's 14) and isn't as open to new things as she once was. LOL!! Love this tutorial! Thank you for doing this. :)
This is perfect for what I need. I rescued a chihuahua and I've never had such a small dog before. Poor little guy gets cold so easily! So I need to build up a wardrobe for him.
Love the sweater, I watch your video because of comments it's pretty easy for someone that crochet this won't help a beginner video is too fast.I love your chi baby she looks like my girl. I will follow along next time.
Hello Beauty! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I am glad you like the video, and thank you for the feedback. I will make a more concerted effort to explain more simply. I don't want people to feel crochet is difficult, and I KNOW this little doggy sweater is a great beginner project. I will have to look at how I can slow down and improve for my "new to crochet friends" thanks again, x0x0 Laura
@@LastMinuteLaura You´re so right! I started making some crop tops and bucket hats and omg there is no way back. Now im making this for my other dog, she´s a puppy

I love this! My chihuahua is only 2 pounds so I am doing single crochet for the whole thing because her lil paws 🐾 go through every other stitch. But thank you for this so much ❤
Great video, thank you. My female chi, Bambi looks like your chi. I love how your dog just lies on his back while you try the sweater on, my Bambi would never do that, your dog Thunder is used to modeling. So cute.

Thanks for watching the video and making the project Barbara. You could definitely modify the pattern to suit your needs. Thunder is used to wearing sweaters by now so we don't really experience those offset things as much. Let me know how it goes if you added some! 🎄Happy Holidays 🎄
Thank you for watching Feathered Fids. Feel free to modify pattern with the tools that you have at your disposal heh. It wouldn't look like this but I am sure it would look great. Have a wonderful day.

I want to begin crocheting because it looked interesting when a video of popped up in my feed. The only thing I have done is sewing and using a sewing machine so this is going to be very new to me. I thought of two projects and one of them is a sweater for my dog. I hope you can answer this question and know that I am not being rude, but does your dog ever get pee on the sweater? My chihuahua gets pee on his sweater and the ones at the store are all the same and I hate it because I have to constantly wash it or else it smells bad. I wanted to hopefully make something for him since buying one at the store isn't an option.
Hello Julie. Thank you for watching! Nope, after making so many sweaters for him, he got used to wearing them. But he never had those troubles in the first place. It is one of the benefits of making your own vs. buying - you can use your doggo as a model as you create the item. This way you can adjust as you go and make sure it looks like you want and doesn't get in the way of them doing their thing. Best of luck and good question!
@@LastMinuteLaura Thank you. I am halfway done. Since this is my first time I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and then more later it started looking better. I still have yarn incase I want to do it again or something else.

Okay I reward he’d it. What I mean is that those chains done in step fifteen will be worked into with double crochet, so it becomes a round again. Does that make sense?
It means in that row you add 2 extra stitches, one on each side of the sweater so it is even, by placing two stitches on the same hole. See video 1 she explains it. It makes the sweater bigger for the bigger part of their body.
@@mp5249 im still quite confused on where i should put the increase 😭 like which side? i've tried it but my crochet became wrinkly/ruffled not the straight one like in the vid

I’m going to tell you right now this was the most confusing sweater I’ve ever made. I have to look up in the corner to get some directions and then look at you crochet 1000 miles an hour. I couldn’t figure this shit out at all.
At the beginning of video 1, you made us measure the dog’s chest, as well as the narrower part of the waist, but I didn’t see you use it in the video. Also it would have been nice to specify where (which stitch number) we should make the increases. My daughter is learning to crochet and this is her first project, but she had trouble following this video. Its too fast, and doesn’t explain how to alter it for bigger dogs. Her dog is medium size, and weights around 28 pounds. A slower version of this video, with more explanations would be nice.
I am so frustrated! You are way to fast on step 14. Is there a written pattern or can someone explain step 14 I can’t figure out how to proceed after I attach the chain to the other side. Please help.
Hey there Stephanie, I just rewatched the video. For step 16, after you chain the number of stitches you skipped to make room for the legs, you slip stitch the chain into the opposite side of the chest, to the top of the double crochet stitch. Then, chain two, and double crochet around. When you reach the beginning stitch, slip stitch the round together, chain two, and complete another round. Do this for 5 more rounds, and then, follow the remaining steps. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching! xoxo Laura
The sweater is is cute and came out nice. But, I have a lot of trouble with this video. The fast speed is is too fast for me. I turned the sound off due to the distraction. This is just me. Although I’ve crocheted for yrs, I’m still slow. So I just replayed the video over and over. Came out nice.

I like the dog coat but your tutorial video is awful it is awful to follow and the few wording is not clear then you fast forward so fast it's ashamed I then had to make it blinded to finish it off
I mute the music sometimes when videos don't have verbal instructions. Maybe you could try this. Her way of constructing the sweater was pretty interesting and different from other crochet videos.
Thank you for watching D Azucena Kolata. That is a bummer that you didn't like the music. I liked the music and that is why it was put in the project. Hope you have a good day.
I like the sweater but as a fellow chihuahua lover I love that dog! What a good boy!!! So stinking cute
Hey Jenny! I think he's cute too... in an alien sort of way. Like a pug, or a frog. Cute, but kinda weird!

Step 9: Join the round, attach the second colour, chain 2, then double crochet 4 rounds, increasing 2 stitches per round.

Step 14: After 2 rows, chain stitch the number of stitches you left empty for leg room
Step 15: When the chain reaches the other side, attach it to the corner with a slip stitch
Step 16: Chain 2, then working in the round, double crochet 6 more rounds with no increases
Step 17: When rounds are complete, cut and tie yarn off
Step 18: Attach yarn 3cm in from the edge of the leg gap, chain 2 then ½ double crochet around until you get to 3cm from the other side of the leg gap
Step 19: ½ double crochet for 4 rows total

You can, for example, slow dow n the video or speed it up. Whatever makes better for you. Hopefully this helps. Have a wonderful day & Happy Holidays!

Grrrr How do you expect people to keep up when you’re going so fast?
Can you slow down OMG no body can not lerning that way you doing.
I like the dog coat but your tutorial video is awful it is awful to follow and the few wording is not clear then you fast forward so fast it's ashamed I then had to make it blinded to finish it off
Good job on finishing! Sorry the video didn't work for you.
Oh my goodness I was hoping no music or different music on video 2, can't even continue watching horrible.
GET A LIFE!!!
