Have crocheted this doggy jacket on several occasions for several dog owner friends, it is a very easy tutorial to follow & very easy to understand. You can add extra details if you wish, thats how flexible the little jacket is. I added little tassles all around the bottom of the jacket to give it a little extra flair & it came out great, thankyou Laura for making your tutorial very easy to understand & fun to do.
If its just plain woollen tassles, I always found that if you get a small book & use the width rather than height & just wrap the wool around until you have the tassle thickness you want, pull it off the book & then wrap a wool tie about an inch or so from top & then cut the loops at the bottom, you can then cut tassle length to the size you want, if you want the tassle to go through an item of clothing, cut the loops at one end, thread them through the item before adding your tie at the top end, this will attach the tassle to your item & you can then cut to size you need. Hope this helps?
@@chompers11 you are more than Welcome,If there is anything else I can help you with Please just ask.As my little dogs have been tea cup yorkies, I found that there were no Jackets On the market that I could buy so I learn't to make my own.If you want any Info on how to do this please ask? X
I've made this a couple times and thought I'd share a few things: This pattern is AMAZING for any size dog, really easy to adjust if you have multiple dogs. There might be a point where you go "I am not sure this will go over my dog's arm at this angle" and TRUST ME IT WILL. I thought I was being clever by shaping the arm around my dog and wouldn't you know it, it now causes a ripple where it's not tight enough. Keep the sharp angle until you get behind the leg and the button/band will keep it tight so you don't need to shape the arms. For a huge barrel dog, this means your butt-end will end up QUITE long, because it doesn't quite size up lengthwise once you get to the 'tail' of the pattern. Esp if you have like, a staff or a boxer with a big neck but a tiny butt. You might want to end this early for a larger dog but understand, it means the bottom will be square. If you end it right on the tail it looks on purpose, but if you end it early, it's a weird visual, but nothing damaging.
I love this pattern...thank you for the great easy to follow tutorial. I make dog and cat sweaters for a local rescue so I have tweeked this pattern several different ways. As I have no idea the size around for the dogs who will be wearing it I skip, chain two or three stitches in the belt in two or three places so that the belt is adjustable. This works very well. It is also very easy to adjust this pattern for length of back and width. Again thank you for sharing it.
Thank you so much! I'm really like this pattern. My puppy is a French bull dog who is very chunky body .I just changed a little bit pattern, crochet more stitches until the right length. But I followed your tutor video step by step. That is very easier to crochet this project. Finally my puppy hasn't worry about the winter is coming. And she is love it ! Thank you again!!
Thank yo so much for this video. I'm really a beginner and your instructions are great. In a few weeks I'm going to be the owner of a chihuahua puppy, first time I'm going to have a chihuahua and i want to begin preparing his wardrobe before he arrives.
I made this and it is soooo cute on my dog. I am a beginner and your instructions were easy and fun to follow. Thank you so much! I see a rainbow of coat colors coming to my dogs wardrobe 😄😄
Hi, Laura! Your dog looks adorable in the sweater and he looked like he was enjoying it at the end lol. For my dog’s birthday, I spent at least half an hour searching for an easy, beginner-friendly crochet dog sweater and couldn’t find anything except for yours! Not only is it perfect because I’m a beginner on crochet, but the result was awesome! Can’t wait to put it on my dog! Rather than chaining for the button loop, I worked a button loop in the strap (chain 2, skip 2 stitches) to make a snug button hole :)
I made a first ever sweater for my doggie with your tutorial! Thank you so much, so easy to follow. Now I'm on to making the second one for my second dog 😊
This sweater was perfect for my pomeranian! He has so much fur on his chest that most sweaters don't fit him properly in the front, but he has alopecia on other parts, so he needs something in our Canadian winters. I looked all over for a sweater with an open front like this, and I'm glad that I found this! :D
Laura thank you for this tutorial. Your video is unique in being very easy to follow. My first vest effort was from a different tutorial and came out laughably lopsided, and didn't fit. My second try is from your video and I made a beautiful turquoise vest with navy blue border for my corgi chihuahua. It looks so clean and well made. So thank you for being a great teacher. Thunder is so cute!
Yes my pup hates when we touch his paws so I was looking for a sweater with no leg holes I made my first one and it was to big so im making another one now lol
I made my coco this sweater! He looks amazing. You’re so very good as directions! I want to THANK YOU! I’m going to look for more patterns from you! Thank you and Thunder again very much. Blessings. ❤❤❤
I've been looking for a dog sweater that would best suit my dog since it's pretty hard to get clothes on him. He's been really cold lately and I wanted to make a sweater to help him. I think this design is exactly what I need 💕
Nope - central California and it gets pretty cold in here at night. Right now during the day too. And my 4 - 9 to 15 lb puppies freeze. They love their jackets and actually wear them every night even with no haircut. Love this patten.
Love, love, love this video. I am always looking for doggie patterns that are adjustable. I have 6 dogs (all rescues) and 3 of them are quite sensitive to changes in the weather. All 3 are different sizes, from 3.5 lbs to 20 lbs, so I need to be able to easily make items smaller or larger. This pattern is perfect!
I’m making this nice sweater for my doggie doesn’t like his paw legs covered so it’s perfect. Just around his neck and under his belly will work well for him. Love the pattern too.
Ive made these now in many different sizes. A little trail and error lol but i got there in the end. I even had fun with my buttons and added flowers ect. Thank you very much for the tutorial, My dogs will be very snug during our UK winter. 🙂
Thank you so much for this great pattern. Your instructions are soooo clear. I made one for my daughter's dog and am finishing one for my own dog, a crossed dachshund. I also made slots in the back to be able to attach a leash for the harness.
Hi Alice, great job! Thank you so much for the kind words, taking the time to comment, and share. I wish we could share images here of your crossed dachshund 🥰 Thanks, Laura
I made this! This is seriously one of the best tutorials on TH-cam-I made it a lot larger, for my Grand-Doodle, but it was super easy to scale. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Thank you for sharing this pattern. FYI, I wish it was more zoomed on your hands, as I was trying to watch closely what you're doing. The majority of your screen was pretty much just background stuff.
This is my second time making a proper crochet piece and it was a success thanks to your detailed instructions! I used silver gray yarn for the neck part, green pea colored yarn for the rest, and a duffle-coat style button to add a little wit, and it turned out to be a lovely sweater for my dog Mong😍 Thanks a lot!
My goodness, a handsome model !! I'll be making one of these for my little doggy friend "Thor" (he's adopted by an elderly friend). He'll be dressed up in green n gold. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much!! I have a really hard time reading patterns so this was amazing. And I rarely finish projects but this only took me three evenings! My dachshund is a bit longer and fatter than your bub but your instructions were so easy that I was able to make adjustments without panicking lol! Thank you again!! Now off to try one of your human sweater patterns :)
Thanks Laura - I’m going to start this project today - I think it may be a little long for us but I’ll look at it as I go along - thank you I’ve watched lots of tutorials on doggy sweaters and this one without the leg holes is the best option for me 😀
Thelma Writes: Laura, you are an excellent teacher!! I love the way you explain every detailed instruction, so clear and patient. Love watching your video and I will give this pattern a go once I have completed my current project. Thank you for your tutorial. Greetings from New Zealand.

What an amazing video tutorial. So detailed. You are such a great teacher. I will sure crochet this sweater for my dogs. Thank you very, very much. Congratulations . 😊😊😊😊 From São Paulo, Brazil
I'm currently working on a color block version similar to the example briefly shown at the beginning. Something I discovered while working on it is that when changing color from the shoulder to the body, the look is more effective when you begin from the wrong side of the sweater. When creating the single crochet stitch there is more yarn knotted in the back of the stitch than the front of it facing you. When reversing it, it produces a thicker, sharper looking edge to the color change because the row is sitting next to it's twin in the previous row. I haven't done many color change projects before, so this is something I discovered on my own. I'm sure for others this is not a new approach. Once I start doing the edging I will also work it from the wrong side of the sweater. I think Laura is already doing that based on where she starts her edging.
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! It is the only one I have found that fits all my little guys needs. We moved to Nebraska this year and the winter has been awfully cold. It is the perfect pattern to work some "fair Isle" designs on as well. Again thank you!
Did you make it by the measurements? I have measured my chihuahua and I am so far going by measurements not the rows cause it wouldn’t fit around his neck else lol he’s quite chunky
Love this tutorial, it's easy to understand and very adaptable. I was looking for a sweater with a belly band, it's nice for dogs that have some difficulties to wear clothes. Thank you, Laura ❤️
I'm brand new to crocheting and I found your channel at the top of the list when I looked up crocheting for beginners. Your videos are so helpful and I just absolutely love your personality :)) I also have a dog similar to Thunder, and these sweaters work out amazingly for him
Absolutely love this, I went from not knowing how to hold the hook to making this for my frenchie, I wish I could share a picture. Thank you for this video . Xoxo
This is so cute! If I had a dogie I would so be making it. I really like how it curves around the back and sides. Looks and works much better than others I have seen.
Fantastic pattern that my dachshund cant slip her arms out of. with normal sleeves she slips her arms into the sweater and then cant walk cause her arms are confined. also very easy to follow. i haven't done crochet in at least 8 years and 8 years ago i barely dabbled in it. this was very easy to make and i love how customizable it is!
I am so glad I found you. I love your creations and your voice. Lol. That might sound funny, but seriously the voices on some of the video searches I've done have made watching and following the videos extremely hard. Lol. You explain things so clearly too. I'm very new to the crochet world but I can tell I'm going to learn a lot from you. And, thunder is sooo cute 😍. Please don't stop with the videos !! Thank you 😊
I have tried it's looking amazing ❤️ I have made according to my female pet according to her body measurements loved it she also loved ❤️💗 to wear bcoz it's easier
Love, love this pattern!!! I am making it as you tell how it's made! So easy, and will be ready for tomorrows' AM coffee in the brisk weather of the mountains! Thank you so much! I know it's been a while since you posted these directions but I have subscribed to your channel! Your Furkid is adorable...we have a black pug...Maisie...and she will look adorable in her new sweater...❤
I enjoyed this instruction video, you are a very good teacher. The garment turned out beautiful. I don’t know if I will make the sweater but I am going to try. Thunder is adorable and a very good model. I have 4 mini doxie’s all different sizes and with this pattern I can adjust the size. Thank you for the inspiration.
Love this. Will make. But confused over collar. Looks like doubled over polo neck on Thunder yet you only had 9sc width. And seems you used worsted weight which to me is a number 4. Did you double up the collar width to get the fold over? Tx in advance.
thunder is a small boy, and the collar is folded over almost all the way back. It's not doubled over, it's almost like, completely flipped. I hopw that makes sense. I still used the 9 sts, but almost all 9 are visible.
Your dog coat patterns are the best! I like the open design where you don't have sleeves to fight with to get on your dog! Thank you!
Glad you like them!

I know it's been a while since you posted these directions but I have subscribed to your channel! Your Furkid is adorable...we have a black pug...Maisie...and she will look adorable in her new sweater...❤
I will definitely try to make this for my little pooper!
I am glad I am not the only one who calls mine a little pooper lol! Good luck!
You can do it!
Loved this pattern, I’m on my third one for family members, thanks so much for sharing 👌👌👌👌

Hahahaha, I'm sorry, meant to say I made them for my brothers 2 dogs 😂😂😂😂
Yay!!! Thanks for sharing that with me Kim. I'm glad =) Happy Holidays and thank you for watching ^^
Love this.
I love my finished project. Thank you!
Thank you for your instructions. I am this along .
Hi thnx for ,your brilliant tutorial. I'm starting my 2nd dog jumper and enjoying to match different colours.. thnx again👍🌷
