I love this pattern! Very easy and wonderful instructions. I made two for my granddaughter’s dogs that are between medium and large. I did do the order of things a little different. Once the body part was complete, I finished the leg holes and stitched in the cuffs before I joined the sides and stitched in closed. It was much easier for me to maneuver around the opening when it was laying flat. Your instructions are spot on. You made it very easy and enjoyable. Thank you. Looking forward to another project!!

Super easy to follow and I’m almost done with my dog’s coat. My dog is between a Medium and a Large and I appreciate the instruction on how to modify the pattern. I have recently graduated beyond granny squares, blankets and scarves and this was a great low risk way of starting to try to make clothing. I’m making one for my other dog and for kicks I’m going to make matching sweaters with the same yarn for my son and I so that we can all match 😂😃

Loved you dog sweater video! I made my first for my Girl Elke. She just like yours. She’s a cream LH weeny. I kept measuring as I went along. It turned out really cute. I’m getting ready to make 2 more one for my other Girl Lizbeth (another cream LH) and another one for my boy Kaiser who is a mini SH. He’s a lot littler. Because we tend to walk them with harnesses, I will put in my next 2 small holes in the middle top right between the collar and the body of the sweater and I know that will be extremely easy. I am also looking to use your video to make some chainmail-like crocheted sweaters for all of them so they will look like knights of the round table. I can’t wait to see how they turn out. This is a great sweater & your instructions make it so simple to follow along. I especially like that there is coverage for the tummy. Most dog coats only cover the back but, the tummy is the part touching those cold floors. I think the hardest part will be taking the measurements on my 2 dachshunds. LOL. 🐾🐾👍

I just your "Rustic Mini Stocking" and was going to ask you if you have any doggy coats, and now saw this video f yours. I started 4 last year, its a European lady that does make beautiful one's, but explains very badly, I tried 4 of them (loved a cable one) but when it came time to distribute the stitches for shoulders, she has every one confused, she just keeps saying you know what I mean. I promised this girl in USA, she has 3 dogs and she sent me their sizes. I said to myself, no biggie, I knit baby cardigans and hoodies, just finished two "onesies", how hard can it be. I have never abandoned projects, I will give this one a go. Your projects have never failed me. I had to make some adjustments for the chest but other than that it's perfect! Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I used a dark blue for the neck, light blue for a third, a light green for a third, and the dark blue for the final length. I then used the dark blue again for the arm cuffs. Wish there was a way to share what it looks like. ❤

My chiweenie has a weird body and he's between the chest measurements and the neck but the rest of him is chihuahua..he has that big barrel dachshund chest ..so regular dog clothes r always too tight or too big ....how do I just the measurements for just the chest and back area for a dog between small and medium? Help pls. His neck is 12 inch...his chest is 18 inch, and between his legs are 5 inch .. his back is 15 inch in length
Great questions! You will want to do what I did for my dog and forget the sizes on the pattern itself. Customize your dog sweater to your own dog. Throughout the video I show you how to take a measuring tape and what parts of your dog to measure by measuring my own dog. You can simply work off the measurement for most of the pattern. Creating a collar that will fit your pup, the chest section you will increase only the first and last stitches of the row until you have reached the leg hole section. This section is a straight away, no increases or decreases. Make you leg holes big enough for your puppies legs to fit comfortably through. Follow your dogs rib cage for this straight away. Once the ribs start to taper revealing the belly, start decreasing the first two and last two stitches of every row ending right before the tail. Then join together, add the leg hole cuffs, and add a nice little border around the whole thing to clean it up. I hope this helps!

Hi i love this tutorial! i have a question! if the yarn im working with is a bit thicker and from the begining (the neck ribbing) im getting fewer stiches than the ones you have for the pattern and just work with my stich count would it throw it off a lot for things like the leg holes?

The pattern is for a striped coat but I'm using one colour so how does that affect the instructions? I have never crocheted anything...
Ooohhh, If you have never crocheted anything I would be very careful with this pattern. It might not be the best project to jump into. It's going to ask you to do a lot of shaping and things that are more for someone who has an understanding of stitches and a good foundation. If you can, I recommend you checking out some beginner basics videos so you can have a better experience making this doggy sweater and don't get overwhelmed or frustrated.

IF you do want to jump in anyway, to answer your question, you do not have to make this doggy sweater in stripes. I didn't, hence the picture of the solid blue color. You will just not color change, instead chain and turn. 😊❤️🧶
My rows are not getting longer as I am crocheting upward from the collar. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I also dont understand what "increase double crochet" means here. Am I ding an extra double crochet for each row? 2, then 3, then 4, then 5?

I think this tutorial would be difficult to mess up! I kinda winged some of the adjustments and ended up with larger arm holes than i wanted, but i'm just going to add goofy sleeves with ruffles on this one. I wish we could all share our results!

Gorgeous but I do worry about dogs overheating if worn indoors just for cuteness, as they can't cool down easily. If only dogs could decide if they feel comfortable or not. However in winter I always put a coat on my dogs outdoors but take it immediately off if they're beginning to overheat 🐕🐕🐕
