i’ve been in an O&A rabbit hole for like 2-3 years now listening to old shows since I didn’t know about them when they were around. Nice to see Ant talking positively of Opester… hope they reunited on someone’s podcast soon
I loved positive anthony, can't stand negative ant. Like christ he's as bad as Opie when he's rambling on about negative shit. I would pay so much money for them to reunite and not be whinny douche bags.
Cumia has the security (in the sense of the opposite of insecurity) of knowing he is actually talented and can always make a good show on his merits, at any time, w just about any co-host, or no co-host. when guys are this good and know they are this good, they can have a degree of magnanimity and fairness. they aren't petty or vindictive or competitive in the ways insecure dudes are.
A good camera guy, editor, portable lighting/audio set up. Good locations, shorter format, occasional celebrity guest... Opie can have a good show on his hands. The theme song is actually kinda fun if he tweaks it a bit. I like the idea of trying new beers. There are endless brands, so he can have many episodes. He can even take it on the road. If he gets out of his own way, the Opester can be laughing all the way to the bank.
The problem with the whole laughing all the way to the bank thing is that the Opster is already a multimillionaire lol, so the hunger & the drive isn't there. He might improve on this format because he's having fun trying out new beers and seeing that people enjoy it...or he might not. Even if it's successful, as soon as he gets bored he will drop it because he doesn't have to do anything, he has enough money to chill for the rest of his life. And that's not a diss, it's just the reality, and not just about the money, but he's already experienced a long run of success as well so the ambition might be gone as well.
If there were nothing or anybody below Opie's estimation of himself to humorously criticize, he's just a voice making noise praying for laughter. He can only illicit laughter by being mean.
You are probably kidding, but I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if they were harbouring feelings or lusts at some point. If you go back and watch the WBAB or Real Rock TV tapes, when they were both in their 30s and not quite as hideous or gross or pathetic as they both are now, there's palpable sexual tension there between them. Then there's Anthony's history of suspect sexual behaviour, and Opie's raging over-the-top jealousy about Ant's other friends and partners...

Prime O&A was hysterical. I recall A on Stern doing incredible voices and impressions and it was clear he was an all time great talent. From the clips shown here, O barely makes an appearance and is overshadowed by his guest. No other streamer or host I listen to is dependent on brewers or other people.

I’ve messed with opie and loved the venom as much as anyone but this made me feel good for him. It took effort, planning and follow through. It suits him much much better than the trolls messing with him in a chat room. Good for him…only took a decade.

Maybe a little more fake "oo it has Simcoe hops" or "oo it's triple dry hopped" but other then that...Opie made a great intro and screen presence. It seems like he's finally gotten over OnA and has started creating something new for the first time. Took him long enough.

It's because if anyone needed to try it was Opie, because he has zero natural talent, conversational ability, or sense of humor, so he had to develop something that connects/speaks to him now, if it's beer, than that's what it is
If a friend came to me and said, "Hey, I'm going to start a podcast! We're going to go different bars and sample all the weird craft brews they have! I don't have a lot of cash though, so I'm just going to film it on my phone." I'd tell them that's a good idea, and if it goes well, then you can invest in some cameras and sound equipment. But if it's Opie, I'd tell him to stop being a tightwad and spend a few thousand on cameras and mics and pay someone to shoot it and make it professional.
Opie is a guy who wants to be from the Pacific Northwest but doesn't actually go to the Pacific Northwest. He looks and has the personality of someone from Portland or Seattle. I think it would be a positive thing for him to settle down there, and he'll probably thrive.
What's funny is that I grew up next to Salem and have been a lifelong Oregonian and enjoy traveling around the state and what you've said is definitely accurate. I find it strange Opie doesn't live or visit here as well
He sometimes comes across as Canadian to me. If I didn't know better, I'd assume that's where he came from originally. I'm not American or Canadian myself, though, so I can't often tell the difference.

Anthony is being nice. This is another Bro type of “Man Show” Opester thing. While it does have a lot more structure and production value, it’s still kind of lame and doesn’t really separate him from any college-age TH-camr. Ant and the caller have valid points about tripods and professional cameras and lowering the music level a little. Opie is headed in the right direction by structuring things, but this “bro about town” thing he has been doing these past few years is kind of shitty, IMO.
Karl did hammer him a bit on this show, but I think Ant's right; he has either realized the dead-end the podcast went down, or whomever is helping him convinced him to change format. Personally, I'm reminded of Opie's line from Jocktober's past "Who is this for?!? I DON'T GET IT!", but I think there are definitely people who would check it out. He could engage the audience by asking if they tried any of the beers from that show and their comments, or some local beer he should check out next episode. Most importantly, he actually seems to be enjoying himself which he certainly did not on the previous format. I don't think multiple cameras would do much to enhance the show though, it does wonders for OnlyFans girls, but no point here. And to Opie, good luck bro.
My only question is Opie has been known to be a radio broadcaster, I dont ever remember him ever breaking down beers. There are shows where the person who knows nothing goes into a genre, but the slight thing is people need to like that person. Opie isnt that likeable on his own, he was always more bearable when he had comics with him to cover his dry humor.

Opie is a guy who wants to be from the Pacific Northwest but doesn't actually go to the Pacific Northwest. He looks and has the personality of someone from Portland or Seattle. I think it would be a positive thing for him to settle down there, and he'll probably thrive.
What's funny is that I grew up next to Salem and have been a lifelong Oregonian and enjoy traveling around the state and what you've said is definitely accurate. I find it strange Opie doesn't live or visit here as well

He sometimes comes across as Canadian to me. If I didn't know better, I'd assume that's where he came from originally. I'm not American or Canadian myself, though, so I can't often tell the difference.

@@mcearl8073 it's just a very odd kind of 'comedy'. i really don't know what to make of it when it's going on. it isn't like SNL characters or Andy Kaufman, it's almost more like how Johnny Carson and Jonathan Winters would do characters. Very old-fashioned and just so strange in a modern context.

Anthony is being nice. This is another Bro type of “Man Show” Opester thing. While it does have a lot more structure and production value, it’s still kind of lame and doesn’t really separate him from any college-age TH-camr. Ant and the caller have valid points about tripods and professional cameras and lowering the music level a little. Opie is headed in the right direction by structuring things, but this “bro about town” thing he has been doing these past few years is kind of shitty, IMO.
Karl did hammer him a bit on this show, but I think Ant's right; he has either realized the dead-end the podcast went down, or whomever is helping him convinced him to change format.
Personally, I'm reminded of Opie's line from Jocktober's past "Who is this for?!? I DON'T GET IT!", but I think there are definitely people who would check it out.
He could engage the audience by asking if they tried any of the beers from that show and their comments, or some local beer he should check out next episode.
Most importantly, he actually seems to be enjoying himself which he certainly did not on the previous format.
I don't think multiple cameras would do much to enhance the show though, it does wonders for OnlyFans girls, but no point here.

My only question is Opie has been known to be a radio broadcaster, I dont ever remember him ever breaking down beers. There are shows where the person who knows nothing goes into a genre, but the slight thing is people need to like that person. Opie isnt that likeable on his own, he was always more bearable when he had comics with him to cover his dry humor.
