The days Opie was absent were some of the best shows.

Some of my favorite moments are Ant talking about his old air conditioning days and being ticketed by the bridge and tunnel officer. I cannot imagine how chopped up those stories would be with Opie there.

Its really good because daffy is funny too. Just not for the reasons he thinks he is.

Keith England he had some great lines here and there for sure some real shock humor stuff when he lands for me but when he swings and misses/bombs/gets completely ignored can be funnier sometimes. That said his balls out tryhard cringe inducing antics and desire to orchestrate vaguely to extremely cruel torment on others is where he shined the brightest. It would be a springboard for so much more. Sometimes he didnt know when to shut his mouth or let funny be funny or maybe not take that unfunny caller but he was the spine of the show. The tracks that moved the train forward but the train could and would derail from and go nuts.

He's brought so much joy to people's day to day for SO many years. Consistent.. Fuckin Anthony... Thank your self for being you.
anthony is an example of a perfect public character. Hes genuine, unapologetic, and so comfortable in his own world that you cant help but respect it. Im opposed with him on so many social and political topics and yet he will always entertain me. The respect he and Jimmy have for each other is so amazing considering they often disagree on basic topics. Open and honest discourse is so important.

To this day I can't believe my favorite radio show got completely fucked up because of a tweet. Anthony got assaulted by some woman and tweets about the assault and gets fired. Afterwards the show goes to shit. The whole reason I got my satellite subscription was for the o&a show.
It was actually multiple racist tweets during a whole tirade. We can argue over whether that warranted a firing but Anthony should have known better.

I've been an Anthony fan since the 90s in Boston and just found this channel. Now I have weeks of new to me content to drowned out the idiots I work with.
You have a 4 month head start on me. This page is the best channel I never knew about. Landau leaving crowder brought me back to Anthony. I only listened to them when jimmy joined way back when. I did try and watch one of Opie's recent videos. He made some unfunny observation about the letters on his beer bottle having dots over them, then burped into the mic. That's it, I was done...edit, a well known comic didn't even want to work with Opie for a million dollars 😅

The sad truth is that Opie was the hole of the O&A show.
It's why he would actually take Jocktober so serious. Ant and Jim would have fun with it, but you could actually hear the anger and insecurity in his voice because he knew he was the hole.

I'd say that's not how narcissists work, but it's really just not how people work. Calling someone out on a serious character flaw will only make them double down and treat you as an enemy in 99% of situations. Opie's the living personification of why we're doomed in that regard.
Anthony is seemingly the most down to earth self aware normal guy. He’s also fucking hilarious and always really interesting to listen to when he does his show.

I don’t know if Patrice really meant it, but he brought it up when he was talking to Jim about face off. Jim convinced Patrice that Face Off was a horrible movie. Opie chimed in saying Patrice was a bad friend and that someone could convince Patrice that he wasn’t Opie’s friend. Patrice elaborated that if someone systematically pointed out why Opie sucks, he would have to agree.
Man I remember listening to you two guys on 102.7 WNEW New York. The show was hysterical.
I was just listening to a Jimmy laughing compilation today and it was so brutally obvious that Greg resented the chemistry between Jim and Ant ESPECIALLY in their greatest moments. Greg is vindictive and resentful. Like a woman.

In the beginning Opie and Ant were like college buddies. They’d have naked chicks in the studio and high five each other. Jim then came along and had this firey personality that matched Ant’s which more or less made Opie the straight man. Opie then started to resent the fact that he became the straight man which is just as important to the show. I think he probably felt that he was no longer a main player on a show that he created so he became super resentful.
Ant, rumor has it that folks are STILL on your old O&A "chat rooms". Ppl are obsessed & probably hoping for a reunion, hahaha

Thing is, if you listened to enough old clips of O and A, Opie laughed at, and agreed with a lot of the racial stuff when Anthony went on his rants. Now, Greg is SO UNCOMFORTABLE with them, its BS.
Clearly Opie just talks about it because its the one weak spot that he can try to stain Anthony, because he knows he cant burn Ant for not being funny.
There, you cut to the heart of it, the reason I appreciate listening to Anthony even though I'm not a fan of his bigotry. At least he's honest, and doesn't come across as a bitter, nasty old fart. He hasn't lost his sense of humor. The exact opposite of Gregg Hughes, who wouldn't know the truth if it slapped him in the face, and is still angry that he didn't have a more successful career.
