    If anyone wants to do the calendar - I suggest printing the decals backwards, and sticking them on the back of the plexiglass. That way when you write/erase on the front, it won't get stuck on or peel the decals.

      As someone who uses dry erase markers way too much, I can say you are absolutely correct. Those crumbs will be stuck to that black vinyl from the 1st erase, causing it to look awful in no time and the cleaner will degrade the adhesive, shortening the life of the calendar. Personally, I want to spend less time cleaning, and I want it to be easy!

    I would have positioned her desk perpendicular to the wall with the windows, with her desk chair in place of that sofa. Having a window behind you while on video calls means a glare on your screen so you can’t see well, and it means being backlit so your colleagues can’t see you well! Plus, if you spend your workday indoors at a computer, it’s nice to actually be able to look outside without turning all the way around.

      not into carpets since lately, but if there was a better solution and leyering, it was here...also a throw on the dog sofa...(deby b. does that so well, btw) the layout i can understand for once cos the table was in a command position, but ag does not give feng shui or sometimes functionality prioritiy over her vision of the space

    A bit surprised by all the crisp whites in that room…The girl showed Alexandra a beige earthy mood board and Alexandra goes for a stark white room?!? Creams and beiges are so in right now. Just look at zara home look book. Alexandra you could have gone out of your comfort zone :) and go that route instead, which is what the client wanted.

    I actually think it would have been better to paint the cabinet a light sage green, or even darker. The room looks too white overall and didn't capture what she said she wanted: a very warm room with color. IMO. I would have added more dimension with color, maybe made a gallery wall above the sofa. I also would have gotten a rug with color.

    It drives me nuts when team AG purposely leaves out necessary items, especially tech items. Like, PUT HER MONITOR BACK!! it's an office, it should look like a functional office in the end result shots as well. A make over video is almost pointless if you don't show how you include the items that the space requires.

    • @sweetheartx13
      @sweetheartx13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +97

      I was thinking the same thing! Also positioning the desk with the back to the window is not practical for an office as there will be a glare on the screen which would have been obvious had the monitor actually been placed back on the desk.

    • @TheKaurK
      @TheKaurK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      *sigh* she has mentioned it before. They don’t put big tech items that are personal back into the room because they need to be set up to the owner’s preference. It was a monitor on a stand set up in a very particular way. Instead of team AG setting it up incorrectly and then This woman needing to take that off and redo her set up, they save the head ache by not putting it in. Take this as a life lesson and stop horrendously judging people right off the bat. Jeez.

    Nice job. I would have turned the rug on the diagonal. I don’t think Alexandra understands the importance of rug pads. I’ve never seen her incorporate one into any of her room designs. They’re necessary to prevent slippage, plus they extend the life of a rug.

It's way too distracting to have your desk right in front of a door, and she's lost a lot of space to move around the way it is now. Any Feng Shui expert will tell you that you should always have your back to a wall. Please swap them around, you'll be much more comfy in your work space/desk. x

    Wow, this room is a dream! You stepped away from making an accent wall with paint and wallpaper, so the plants really pop. I think you also really considered what she wanted because one of the inspo photo's was with white walls. And I really love the earthy design combined with the crisp white. And to top it off you kept it minimal, what was also what she wanted. I made my comment a bit longer because I don't think this makeover deserves the negative comments I see! ❤ Last thing, I see you guys are growing. I loved the pompom phase but I find it impressive that now you dare to do other things as well!

    Overall, the room is fresh and easy on the eyes. Liked the calendar idea. Cricuts are such fun machines. However, I did not love the Ivar doors, they look like wiggly tin used for barns. The half dowels - not called moulding - are too chunky. Would rather have seen something with a lower profile. If a junior designer didn’t know the measurement to the underside of windows, specified the wrong window coverings, that person would be fired. AG charges a lot of money for her design packages. She should be better prepared, especially for TH-cam videos.

      It looks to me like the Fiddle Leaf Fig might be over-watered. And many of the plants I see are leggy, which indicates too little light. They would flourish is the long strands were cut back and then they were placed where they would get sufficient indirect light. They would grow back with the fullness that is their natural way.

    if u ever need an Allen wrench drill bit in a specific size for an ikea project (or other build where they include the Allen wrench) & u don’t want to buy 1 for ur drill - u can cut off the “handle”/ bent part of the wrench and insert the remaining long arm (leave the screwdriver end facing out obvi) into ur drill just like a reg drill bit. Just need some wire or metal cutters to snap off that handle end. So helpful if you have multiple cabinets to build.

    The cabinet is beautiful! Would love to see it against a darker background or painted a different color to make it pop! There's nothing offensive about the makeover but here's another missed opportunity to add color to a space. The client asked for earthy tones: browns, mustards, greens... and you chose... all white. White tends to look sterile and generic, and this reminds me a bit of my dentist's waiting room, lol.

    Love the cabinet hack and the layout change. I think the main thing I would change would be the looped plant. I would have strung it over the top of the window. I may have also moved one plant from the short wall beside the desk to the top of her new cabinet to spread the color around and make sure the ones on that shelf were not competing for light.

  • @mael2039
    @mael2039 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I love how the shelf itself is the same colour as the wall and almost blends in and it's actually the bracket that stands out. I feel like that's so different from the usual, cause I've seen so many books shelves with wall colour brackets to blend in. This gives it a more luxurious look and it looks kind of a bit quirky and extra if that makes sense.
    The only thing I don't love is the dog bed, cause I think it's more practical to have it on the floor, especially for a large dog who isn't going to be able to jump on when they get old. That being said one of my dogs loves laying on her chair she prefers it over all her floor beds and yes we have many.
    So it depends on the dog. My first dog wasn't allowed on the sofa and later on we tried to change the rules and she just never went up anyway out of habit. But now there allowed on some furniture but not all and it works well for us. I just think that dog bed is mostly pretty and not really chosen with the dogs comfort in mind but then again as I said I do have one dog who would choose this bed for sure over others so it really depends.
    I really like the new direction of the desk.

So I was looking for tips on how to do this properly; now wondering if not priming and not adding a top coat is ok like it was done in this video? I like the way it looks but now more confused on how to properly do this!
