Even though it’s beautiful, as an artist myself I cannot understand how she wanted the place darker. I need all of the light possible, I think she didn’t think of that. The reference photos all had a window next to the desk, that's why it worked, but this doesn't have any direct light. But I love the storage.
Agree, and the lighting they put 8n there for her is not functional: just one wall sconce and one task light🤔. Not nearly enough light for any artist I’ve ever met.
Even if they gave enough lighting, this wall and ceiling color will totally alter her artworks colors and tones in this space so it won’t come out the same way in natural light or cool white. The organizers is awesome though
I could see a space like this working for digital art, but traditional? she did mention needing two task lights, she’s gonna end up buying another one herself
I don't think I've been more compelled to comment on one of your videos, but this reveal is amazing!! The amount of storage in that little space is amazing! GO TEAM AG!!!
The desk and organization are terrific, and the color is beautiful, but I think it's way too dark for an artist to work in and figure out what colors go best with what. For me, such a dark color in a space that's 30 sf would be claustrophobic.
Already knew you were a talented artist and that you have a fun, friendly personality... but hearing you share that you've been in therapy for six years, in an effort to normalize therapy and promote Better Help, was really generous and compassionate - you are a real gem, Alexandra!
I'd like to hear Grahame narrate his own projects. Since he's the designer it sometimes feels like you're repeating what he told you to say. Painting tip - when you are working over your head, wear a cap and safety goggles :) On camera, the colour reads as oxblood. I think for me, it would be too much dark to work by, but it looks very dramatic. I think I would have chosen a more terra cotta tone, or tried to brighten some of the space with a lighter colour (maybe a paler pink-er version of the colour on the ceiling, some white trim or desk top, etc.). I would choose bolder lighting (though I love the wall sconce), and added a mirror to bounce light. I would not be able to work facing the dark pegboard or wall. It's hard to tell from the video, but I wonder if the desk could have been placed in the opening of the space to face the room?
I know your channel is directed to millennials who are still renting. However, you're so talented that you inspired me to change my kitchen and lounge, as I needed a low budget solution. I'm a 45 years old home owner in England and I just love your channel.
Very creative storage spaces but a cluttered desk doesn’t have much room for larger pieces. Also she asked for two moveable lamps to shine on her work in opposing directions. You need strong task light sources to prevent shadows
Exactly, that was the only thing missing. But since the other lights are not hardwired and the tasklight is from ikea, she can easily just get another one (or two if she needs?) and mount it on the pegboard. I'm sure she'll be able to figure this one out, should be an easy fix! On that note she will probably reorganize the supplys to her needs (high traffic closest etc.) but that's the best part of this design in my mind because of the easily adjustable system
i think the space looks beautiful, but i also agree. and i feel like there shouldn't be warm light bulbs but more white. I also am not sure if the desk's depth is long enough.
You read my mind! I have so many art and sewing supplies and I’m also a teacher and often work online from home. So many studio or small home makeovers never address the need for artist’s space. Thanks a lot for this.
This came out super cute! Love the pegboard and the color! A few things i noticed though…she specifically asked for 2 task lights so i think it would have been good to give her a second light in her art area that she could adjust. She also said she liked maximizing her art table so i dont think she will like having that little ikea drawer taking up space on her art desk.
I’ve been a professional painter for almost 20 years. You’re rolling ceilings all wrong. Don’t go front to back, roll left to right instead, walking backwards as you roll. You’ll be able to reach twice as far going side to side, with significantly less chance of straining a muscle because you really aren’t stretching at all. Plus the paint splatter won’t be going right over your face and hair, it’ll be a foot or so in front of you. By walking backwards as you roll, you’ll have a perfect view of the paint you just applied, it’ll be easy to see any dirt, paint skins or ridges. And you’ll never pass under the roller, so you’re less likely to get paint in your eyes. You should also start with the ceiling (think top-down approach, like you would for dusting/cleaning). That way if there’s drips on the walls, you’ll fix them as you go without having to go back and redo things Usually we bring two sizes of extension pole as well, a 3-6’ for walls and a 5-10’ stick for ceilings. You get better control (read: less ridges) with the longer stick. Plus the longer stick is actually less tiring since you can keep both hands below shoulder height. Might not be worth it for a small project, but if you roll any decent sized ceiling you’ll definitely appreciate the longer stick
For those who paint, shouldn’t the space have light neutral walls to ensure you are accurately viewing the paint colors? This closet seems way too dark to paint in.
It depends on the artwork.. maybe she makes dark and moody art... I LOVE the style but for my bedroom, in a studio I need bright and aired spaces with natural light...
I foresee her having to repaint the space as soon as she realizes how much that dark color will affect her perception of color while painting. Also, the lighting is extremely insufficient.
STUNNING 😍! I am a crafter and this is the perfect space with a small footprint👍 I love when Alana said “it’s like when brown and purple make a baby”😂 great color 😊 yay! Team AG👍👏✌️😃
Although the design is amazing, I’m not even sure that Ott lights would help in this dark space. An artist needs white studios so the wall paint color does not reflect onto the project.
The artist herself didn't want white walls. But I agree the lighting was an absolute miss. I think part of the problem is the decorator might be choosing from lighting options she was given. Not all of the walls and the pegboard should be all one color. One accent wall in the deep color and others in a complementary very light color. Using blonde wood or naturally stained light wood also would have made it less dark. In the end, the decorator's first priority, is what the client wants. EDIT: I commented BEFORE I knew she painted the ceiling the dark color too. Dark and moody is NOT DUNGEON DARK. Sorry this was a fail. She went too far with the paint and NO real lighting. It will take several coats of white paint on ceiling alone. Kinda sad.
Wow. All the light is on the other side of the room anyway. What amazing windows! I can see why the nook seemed a good choice to store stuff, but it was too dark even with the white walls. I think it makes a great storage area and I love what Alexandra did but I'd load up the trolly with whatever I needed for a particular project and take my painting stuff out into the main room and sit at a table near the window anyway. I would love that as a storage area (she says looking at all the pots of pens, pencils, brushes etc scattered all over he place) 😂😎
I think Graham is "seamless & perfect!" lol! But seriously tho - watching Graham work & create is ever so satisfying!! You all did a fantastic job - The team made the dream happen!! What a fantastic & unique space 🏆
This is genuinely one of my favorite projects you’ve ever done after years of watching your channel. You absolutely changed the way Yasman’s day to day will play out with this amazing space. And I’m obsessed with the color!
I love how everything was perfectly arranged in here, but as everyone else stated. Me, as an artist, as other artists have pointed it out, I do want natural light to actually show me the true colors I’m working with for my art. And then I can have colored walls, but other than that. This reddish brown would give me a headache, cause the light plus the color is just a perfect recipe for tiring my eyes and give me a migraine. I’d have gone honestly with the blue or green she wanted from the pics if I had to choose a moody color anyway. But I learned a lot of how I want to redo my studio 💕
Have you guys ever thought about partnering with a tiny home builder? I love to see how you would do the space allocation, design and decor. As always, well done!
I live in a tiny house and I'd love to see somebody do a tiny house make over but I would never want anything that isn't real wood and real metal and I would certainly never want any ikea products.
This is gorgeous AND so functional! The only improvement I could see is putting the watercolours on a tray so they can all be pulled down together otherwise pure perfection ❤
As a multidisciplinary artist who lives with multiple artist roommates, we set up our dining room as our art studio space. I'm always looking for better ways to organize the art space and it's rare to find design videos about art organization, so this is an awesome video!!
This is some of your best work yet! 😮 I specifically want to mention that shelf with the jars inserted is brilliant. It combines beauty with function and safety. The jars will never slide off the shelf and break in 1 million pieces. I am totally stealing this idea for my workspace.
It’s also great because you can still take the jars off the shelf if you need to use all your brushes or pencils at once! And if you do accidentally break one, they’re just basic mason jars from the dollar store so they’re easy to replace
Team AG crushed this one! (As usual.) The paint color is so rich. It's giving deep eggplant. GORGEOUS. Everything about this design was amazing. ...and then, THERE'S GRAHM. Always blowing the mind!!! ENDLESS GENIUS. He is a walking Diamond Mine. Seriously.
This is absolutely stunning, I love the peg board and all the different storage solutions created on it! I know you love warm light but I will say that that orangey toned lightbulb is definitely the wrong choice for someone needing to paint, since it will greatly affect how colors appear. But that's a very easy fix for her. Gorgeous!
My thoughts exactly. The space is AMAZING, but the color sucks all the light out of the space. I would need a light and bright color to do creative work, especially if painting. An Ott Light might help.
I would be worried the darker color will reflect off of light colored paint in her projects and not provide the true color. Same with the very warm light.
@@dorotheanewham4264 To be fair, Yasaman was asking for a dark color for the walls (and I like the brown-pink over green-blue a lot). I agree she needs more lighting, but that's a pretty easy fix (another one of those clip-ons, and maybe whiter light bulbs).
Not only is this the most amazing blend of function and style, the fact that tram AG took the time to go through all of the individual Items for the art space and make sure it was usable day one is something I feel like I never seen. This is stunning, well done!!!!!!
This makeover is by far one of my favorites because of the genius use of the space with that desk, pegboard, and shelves! Grant is just absolutely so talented. And your vision for the design is over the top amazing.
What a stylish and creative transformation! You and Graham slayed this! I bought your book for my niece who just moved into an apartment so that she may be inspired. Well done, TeamAG 👏👏👏
Yeah, LOVE this! Back then I loved your series "make my space work", and this make-over brought back these days. STUNNING use of space, great storage solutions. The nook looks ten times bigger. And also beautiful. As an artist I myself prefer a neutral colored art studio, but this is, I think, also a living space. A stylish part of the condo. Team AG made me happy again!
As an artist I would LOVE this work space it’s beautiful and has so much storage. Yes you could add a huge light source if needed but just as is, it’s so nice. If you notice bob Ross paints in a dark room with a studio light and that’s the best way to paint in my opinion! I love this so much ❤️😭 I’ll be taking this as inspiration for my art studio 😍
Well done! Not sure how you turned a cramped corner into a multifunctional workspace/studio but you did! I’d love to just sit in that space, it’s so cozy and inviting. She did ask for 2 pull down lamps but she can add another if she needs it (the wall light is beautiful and warm, definitely worth having, but doesn’t provide the kind of light needed for art and craft work). I feel like I’m being repetitious but this is one of my favorite of your makeovers!
This was a brilliant makeover featuring great design, dyi and so many creative solutions. I also appreciated the mental health feature and Alexandra sharing her experiences.
I love that you were able to design her space for everything she needed. That was a tall order and you delivered. Love the unique color and pegboard . Great job guys
As a creative, this is a DREAM space 😭 been waiting for this kind of design my whole life! Functional storage for days, cannot wait to create an adaptation of this space.
I'm so glad you gave her so much practical help with this space! It looks so functional!! Great job!! And what would you do without Graham? He is obviously now core to what you do!!!
This space provides lots of useful storage space. But that wall colour won’t work for an artist. The three dark green photos the client showed (or a neutral mid-gray) are what she needs to be able to paint without colour bias. She will also need to add two lights designed for artists (like she requested) to be able to accurately see her work in a realistic way.
I'm not much of a crafter, so I can't judge how well the color will work in a craft room. All I can say is that I love it, there is light available from the area outside of the room, and the inspo from the client indicated that she liked the dark colors. I didn't think I would be interested in a craft room-type makeover. I was wrong because this is one of my favorite Alexandra makeovers! I can see myself borrowing some of these ideas in my small desk area1
Talk about a full circle moment of sorts! you transformed your closet in the treehouse into an amazing and cute office space, and now you’ve created an utterly outstanding arts and crafts studio out of this closet alcove. You’ve given this artist some inspiration and ideas! 🫶🏻 An enviable job very well done, Team AG! Way to slay once again.
Wow! You are so very, very talented! You took what this lady needed and delivered the most beautiful and functional space. I am truly in awe of your talent a d never get bored watching and re-watching all of your videos! I am obsessed with them! ❤ to you, team AG and all the furry friends!
I first need to say this. I love that you are so informal that your dog is on your video, I love Graham's old worn sneakers on the peg board and I love that you are so thoughtful to share your therapy info with us. And that is the best office/craft workroom! It is cozy and spacious looking both and what storage the pegboard has. Another great space team AG!
Wow! Her gasp was totally warranted, this space is sooo good! I am planning my own office makeover at the moment and this is goals for sure! Oh and James’ editing on this was everything! 😆
Love this updated office desk! The lower right-side table was originally intended for the typewriter (now laptop/keyboard) - puts your arms at the perfect height naturally, Glad this style is coming back! Thanks for such a cool makeover.
That is such an amazing transformation, Alexandra! WOW! Love it!! ♥ The colour is just perfection...so cozy and warm and inspiring. Well done, Team AG!
Hey Team AG, this was a great makeover. Your team always kills it. I’ve been bingeing your vids for like a week now cause I’m hooked…however, partnering with Better Help is not a cute look. There are so many allegations, testimonies and controversies against the company that are not hard to find at all and it is ridiculous to still see so many youtubers partnering up with them. It cheapens your ethos because you’re either not looking into these companies or you don’t care. Hope you take this into consideration!
Wow! I didn’t know I wanted a new desk until I saw it! I have been lusting after the IKEA pegboard for my creative space & I will be stopping by get it. That color was like a chameleon from the first viewing to the reveal. I may need to check it out IRL too. Another stunner Team AG!!👏🏻👏🏻😍
Just a kind reply that the shelf being 12” below the sprinkler head will obstruct sprinkler flow. Also the diffuser being 12” above the shelf will obstruct air flow. ❤
Gorgeous and functional. You really listened to the client and gave her what she requested. Oh, BTW, whatever you're paying Graham isn't enough. That dude! Freaking amazing talent!
Alexandra, I love that you made this a dark room. From viewing this video, I realized that I work better on things I need to really focus on at night with a task light. You have inspired me to consider changing my office/craft room from white to a darker color!
Wow it looks so much bigger with the dark colors and all that you add to the same space than before Alexandria you and your team did it again love it 😍
The storage was ABSOLUTELY custom for her supplies. I had only seen pegboards with tiny holes and metal hangers. You maximized the space and it looks larger yet the dark color makes it recede. The perfect supply/work nook. On my own wish list would be that the desks be on casters to move out temporarily. And a huge Murphy table outside of the nook for cutting patterns and sewing.
One thing she might find useful is a lazy Susan. On each side is a different median. Paint, brushes, tools for that task in one place that can be swapped out.
This art closet is amazing. After I finished design school in the 80s I was lighting designer here in SF area of California. I worked on fairly large residential and landscape projects, (none were as charmingly small as yours) and Jan Moyer was my employer and mentor before I branched out on my own. Gave it up in the 90s. Recently found your channel and I’m captivated by your ingenuity and creativity. Your makeovers are splendid and bring so much joy to your clients but also to viewers of these videos. Kudos to you and Graham, and to your whole team-you’re BRILLIANT! 🎆 🙏
Looks fabulous. It's my favourite makeover that you have completed ever. Could you please include this makeover in your next book? I can relate to Yasmine 💯. I'm glad that you provided Yasmine with extra pegs and shelves. I would hang up the ladder and the Ikea storage box, though. This will create more space for her to move around. Great job, Team A.G.😀👏🎨
Dear Alexandra, I love that spark in your eyes, when you are standing in the middle of a bare room and can already see what you are going to turn it into. 😊
It’s like dark academia meets minimal glam. Although the bright rainbow paper and washi tape kinda disrupts the moody vibe, maybe she can get more earth toned supplies to match?
I am a crafter and need to organize my supplies in a 10 by 4 loft area. You have given me so many great ideas. Thank you for posting this video. Great job!

I agree. Although beautiful color but not a friendly one for creative space and the light supply is not enough. Desk is to cluttered.
I think by the place where the larger desk is she is going to block herself all the light.

She'll move things around, like we all do. They couldn't leave the peg board empty. This just shows how it could look.
Not a huge fan of the paint color and I think it needs more light, but everything else is spot on! Great work Team AG!

For those who paint, shouldn’t the space have light neutral walls to ensure you are accurately viewing the paint colors? This closet seems way too dark to paint in.
Absolutely yes!!
The owner is a painter and said she didn't like the light walls. Maybe varies with lighting?

Right?
I’m practically drooling
As a professional artist I can't imagine that wall color or that light bulb would be conducive to seeing wth you're actually doing.
Exactly, Ott lights might help!

And also beautiful. As an artist I myself prefer a neutral colored art studio, but this is, I think, also a living space. A stylish part of the condo. Team AG made me happy again!
I wasn’t feeling the paint color at first, but it grew on me, the storage solutions were great for an artist to have everything available.
One of my faves y’all done. Especially since when I recently moved I felt the pantry could hold my desk or craft table. Thanks for the inspo!
OMG, Thumper walking through the wet paint is amazing! It's so fast in the video, but I love Dave coming back and repainting it!
The color, let me put it this way: I would change it immediately, no matter how much time or effort it'll take, the storage was clever.
I love how adjustable and flexible this is! Feels like it will actually be functional and not just cute for pictures.
Yes! I think it's amazing, but not perfect--but it's set up for ajustments.
An enviable job very well done, Team AG! Way to slay once again.
Thank so much, Michael! 💕
Wow! You are so very, very talented! You took what this lady needed and delivered the most beautiful and functional space. I am truly in awe of your talent a d never get bored watching and re-watching all of your videos! I am obsessed with them! ❤ to you, team AG and all the furry friends!
I was NOT into that paint color but once you put it on the wall I was converted. Absolutely brilliant job!🌟
Alexandra and Graham are the ultimate dream team ❤. I swear you get better with each transformation….
Obsessed! So so gorgeous and probably the most thoughtfully functional makeover I’ve ever seen you guys do, which is saying a lot! Great work 😍
I first need to say this.
It is as beautiful as it is functional, yet it has a warm and cozy glow. It should get those inspirational thoughts flowing 24/7.
Wow! Her gasp was totally warranted, this space is sooo good! I am planning my own office makeover at the moment and this is goals for sure! Oh and James’ editing on this was everything! 😆
So many great storage and space-stretching ideas! Love the functionality. And Graham is a genius artisan far beyond a carpenter.
I’m tearing up! Love how creative the team was for this tiny space! Her reaction was perfect!
This is one of your best AG! So much storage, useable space and style too! Chef’s kiss!🥰
Your team is awesome. I know it takes people we don't see or know about to make your makeovers awesome. Great job to all on this one.
Oh man, i would be so stoked every morning just hanging out in that space... Well done!
I've always wanted you to tackle an art studio so this was really fun to watch!
This is what I needed for my Saturday.
The step stool was the absolute finishing touch!
truly the best makeover for a creative space i’ve ever seen
I love this so much! I just bought a little desk to make a little Art corner in my living room, so that gives me so many ideas!
Yay!!!
I have been waiting for a video like this. I have so many ideas for a corner art/creative space!! Love to see more art space makeovers
WOW 29:34 😮You're Just Doing Better & Better than ever with space management w'design etiquette of perfection to it's maximal potentials ❤❤❤❤
Blown away at the details in this little space. Sistah Gurl, you knocked it outta the park on this one!🎨🥰
As an artist, I approve 1000% what a beautiful makeover for a small space. I would have never imagined a space like this had so much potential
Brilliant! Her face was a classic, you obviously exceeded her expectations. Now I want an office/art nook, dang! So good.
Wow!!! ❤ I’m in awe of your talent and vision for every project - and you and the team just keep improving every single time ❤
This is truly one of the best small space transformations I’ve seen! Stunning!
Alexandra, I love that you made this a dark room. From viewing this video, I realized that I work better on things I need to really focus on at night with a task light. You have inspired me to consider changing my office/craft room from white to a darker color!
This is amazing.
As someone who sews and paints this set up has given me so many ideas for my own small space. Just love it ❤️
WOW! Amazing transformation! I really enjoyed watching Team AG tackle this one!
Wow it looks so much bigger with the dark colors and all that you add to the same space than before Alexandria you and your team did it again love it 😍
OMG it is gorgeous, so cosy and with so much storage. This corner sparks joy and creativity. You absolutely nailed it!!!
I love how much thought you put in this tiny space. Her reaction was priceless.
amazing!!! that red-purple-brown color is beautiful and rich & moody! what a cozy useful corner!
This art studio is incredible! I'm so impressed by this
One thing she might find useful is a lazy Susan.
Your make-over is incredible!! Beautiful and the most efficient use of space I have ever seen.
You've got extra room between jars to add holes for scissors, pliers or drivers etc🤩
Some kind of magic going on here..!..
Incredible!
So much fit in the space, a dark color… yet the space looks so much bigger!
Wow!
Don't know why I have tears in my eyes. This is so cool! LOVE EVERYTHING in here.
Qué alegría! Hoy hay video de Alexandra 🎈
I absolutely LOVE this workspace 💜💜 Great job as always Alexandra & Team 🎉🔥🔥
Really love the attention to detail on this one. I don't love brown but the way the colorful supplies pop against the dark walls is really beautiful.
I’m with graham. The good piece of wood in the garbage feeling is unmatched
Great job!
