Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Saturday! Today I'm doing a completely renter-friendly entryway condo makeover. It's a tiny entryway but by using peel-and-stick wallpaper and hacking a hardwired wall sconce it's now a chic, Parisian-style place to put on shoes!

Although I watch and admire every project, this is one of my faves because it seemed like there was nothing that would make the space better. But Team AG did it!
It turned out really nice! And the candle hack was great, but amazon does make battery powered light bulbs that you can twist into a light! I think people forget about this! Good job!

i love using rechargble light bulbs for areas without outlets but the candle idea is so creative

I was so nervous when you drilled above the electrical panel! I've been wanting to cover mine up for months but an electrician told me I shouldn't even use a nail above it because the wires could be anywhere. I finally used a command picture hanger to hang it.
Update: The picture hanger fell and tore off a nice chunk of paint. We ended up getting an electrician to put in a nail.

If I am not mistaken, modern construction uses metal conduit pipe to feed wires into the box. You're not going to pierce those with a tiny nail !
@@m.maclellan7147 it really depends where you are in the world. Definitely not the case here.
I don't really know how it's called in English, but there is this handy device that scans for wires when you put it next to the wall. This way you can double check before any drilling :)

Congrats on 400+K subscribers. So well deserved. Another stellar design by Team AG; I love the large print installed above the closet. This whole area went from cold and uninspired to welcoming and warm and sets the tone for the rest of the condo.

This is probably my favorite makeover the team has done so far. It’s so simple but the impact is huge. And Amanda is so beautiful! As well as Alaska 🐱 also, James’ happy birthday song was 👨🍳 💋

I should totally open an Etsy shop and make my kindergarden kids draw line drawings every day so I can sell them oops
For real tho if you're into the abstract look kids do be good at that cause they're not overthinking it and trying to make it disproportionate and abstract on purpose, it just happens.
Totally would be able to sell that.
That is to say, I genuinely like the art you hung, and I'm not trying to shade the artist here.
I personally hate that style of art! I'd rather have a landscape than abstract any day!

LOVE this makeover!! I'm so confused with landlords over in Canada. I'm from the UK so generally speaking things aren't as strict decorating wise in rented housing. But why would you say no to painting the walls but allow drilling of holes in the walls??? It confuses my simple english brain

I love Amanda’s style! Beautiful condo. Peel and stick wall paper on an old non plumb wall…. I did that. Once. The print didn’t look off center because of that mirror. Alaska wanted that shoe rack to stay out in the entryway. She was planning to claim it. I love the finished entryway.❤️🌹

I really do think that you have a good voice for singing, I know you just do it for fun. But it’s actually quite pretty. Also this make over is so good, the wallpaper added just the right touch.
I would've painted the mirrors, (I've done it to my sliding closet door mirrors and it's so easily removed with a razor blade.) and put a mirror on the wall next to the door, with the small shelf below it.

Looks like you could use that shoe cabinet for cats also. Smart ideas and applications. Simplistically elegant .
Simple and yet it adds so much. I love the light hack!!!! Also, had to chuckle at the end with a pair of shoes in their old spot LOL! Maybe a little rug thrown there to hold that place and make it look intentional. Love, love, love your videos!

Oh I would have chosen the other wallpaper, it had a very Parisian vibe I loved it. But this is beautiful too and that light hack! I think it's what brings the space together so well. (The little birthday surprise from your team is so sweet!)
Love the videos and love the style. May I suggest some additional hooks artfully placed next to the electrical box to help with hangers when doing laundry. I have a similar awkward laundry situation but I used over the door wreath hangers to solve mine.

Absolute perfect. Such a seamless blend of her existing style and the entryway with a bit more personality but still perfectly flows. ... And not I want that entryway matt. Close to $100 😫 😫 😫 but it's so cute and adds an extra special touch - I love it!

I live in Germany where every apartment has a "Flur", it's separate and often pretty huge compared to the size of the apartment. I never know what to do with the space except store my coats and shoes there. Time to get some ideas :)
