    I to love my 21 willys JT diesel. Took a trip to Stowe VT. From my house its 425mi got their on a tank of fuel with 70mi to spare. Averaged 30mpg. Around town it's 22.5mpg. The only mod I have is a daystar level kit upfront. Stock tires are 32 mts.

    Very happy with it- the gas engine is competent
    I've always liked the idea of a diesel- a gladiator Mojave diesel would be a dream- I'm just a bit concerned about the politics of diesel fuel nowadays 🤯

    Drove both the gas and diesel. I like the diesel for the torque. It definitely get's up to speed a lot faster from a stop. I wasn't impressed by the $240 oil changes my local dealer quoted me though.

    Great video and lots of good information. I have a 2021 JLU Diesel, the only issue I had was at 18,000 miles my turbo went out and I kept getting the error msg "Electricon Throat Control Failure, also the Jeep would die at 65 mph. Thank god I bought the extended warranty, the dealership had my Jeep for 6 weeks fixing it. They had to remove the body from the frame to replace the turbo. Talk about a shitty design. Other than that, I've had zero issues.

    Another gas to diesel Gladiator owner here. I agree, hands down the diesel is the way to go. Im averaging 4mpg better and where I live diesel is also cheaper to fill. Drives considerably better and im no longer frustrated on hills and passing other vehicles. Dont get me wrong, out of the light duty pickups, the 3.6 and 8 speed does well but with 35” or bigger tires, the 3.6 starts to complain. Im excited for future videos and im excited for the Banks intake and power figures.

    shouldnt be too bad in the cold. alot of modern diesels either have block warmers you can plug in during the night, and plus the glow plugs are much more advanced nowadays. use #1 diesel during these times to help prevent gelling.

      I have a JLURD and I would buy it again tomorrow if they had a new one on the lot. I’m going to keep it forever since they discontinued the engine choice but I love everything about it.
      The torque is REAL. 2 weeks ago I pulled 8 trucks with boat attached up out of the bay (boat launch) that were stuck in the snow and could pull out. I put it is 4L,, enabled both lockers and literally took my foot off the brake and pulled them out at idle. I didn’t touch the accelerator pedal except for a 30ft pilot house boat attached to a dually Cummins Ram. I needed some juice for that one.

    id truss the stock front axle on the ecodiesel
    cause from what ive seen these new axles are pretty damn strong from personal experience,cause my buddy has a 2019(technically 2018 but the years are weird) jeep jl and he runs 39'' Bfg Km3's on his rig and i know that man sends his rig pretty hard same with my other buddy on his diesel JTRD and he runs 40'' trail graps and he beats his rig pretty hard and always bumps up mild or big steps pretty damn hard but the only thing he's broken is just a rear axle shaft wich were stock but i know he does run 4.88's rcvs on the front artec truss on the front,but not on the rear yet and yukon rear axle shafts and thats all i really remember since i helped install those parts for him
    \but yeah i feel confident that if you truss the front axle run some chromoly rear axle shafts it should be fine for a long time,cause my buddies really use their rigs to the max and they feel confident that their axles should hold up,same with me i feel confident that my axles should hold with the proper upgrades im gonna get once i rack up enough coin :D

    • @iammikemunn
      @iammikemunn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn’t disagreeing, I know what the specs are. My point is that the diesel has better torque so it will tow 6500lbs better than the gas engine. The diesel doesn’t spool up the way that the gas engine does. It stays at a lower RPM and the torque pulls the weight better. I get that the gas is 7650, and it might pull it, but it doesn’t pull pretty. Besides, as we all know, nobody pulls at their spec. Not saying that I do, but there are tons of people who do.
