Restoration of an Old and Non-Working Siren to the Condition as New! Thank you for wathing and subscribe my channel! See you soon! #restoration #old #tools
Geez, I know right. I just switch off or mute it if its interesting enough . I like Colin Furze but he plays too much rock and heavy metal over his videos.
hey man, you're off to a good start. stay on that grind and keep honing your craft (both the actual restorations and the filming side)! would have liked to hear the siren really cranked up but I realize that's probably not feasible if you've got neighbors :P

Learn to use your tools man. Using the jaws of your vice as an anvil while the vice has an anvil built in, then immediately holding the piece with your hand for grinding was my breaking point.
a good job, no doubt about it. but if I can some advice. you have a good set of tools, but I highly recommend that you both attach them better to their mounts (the lathe moves a little too much, for example) and use them more safely. I say this for your physical safety ... otherwise we won't see many videos of your work. best, Alessandro
Nice work. We're gonna need a lot of these things for the upcoming war between man and machines. I don't know about you, but I'm rooting for the machines.
Until this day, I thought that a part of the hand-operated sirens was making a sound when the fan hit. However, as far as I understand from the video, the flow of air produces a sound as the fan rotates. At least I think that's the case.
The fan only creates an air flow, but in order to get a sound, you need to interrupt this flow very often with a curtain. Rectangular holes on the fan housing and on the fixed cover of the siren, when rotated, "crush" the air flow. This creates sound.
@@alonsobrosmann4300, there is one little trick. The number of holes on the fan housing and the siren must be different - otherwise there will be no sound.
There is an impeller, not sure if that is the right word, at 5:40. It is what is turned when the device is cranked. It has vanes and openings around its edge. It fits closely into a housing with similar opening that line up, but with slightly different spacing. When the impeller turns, the air is forced through the openings, which are rapidly opening and closing, causing the characteristic whir-to-scream, speed dependant. I think.
You know, now that I look at it his thumbnail pics look just like his, with the wood table. But My Mechanic doesn't dirty up his projects with the fake mud like these guys. I'm only a minute in and decided to check the comments to see if anyone else noticed it's another fake mud restoration. But your comment was spot on. NO ONE can compare to MM. He's phenomenal. That Chip guy that does Tonka trucks and antique toys like that, he's really good too.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I the only one calling bullsh*t?? The exposed metal from where the paint is chipped isn't rusted at all and the dirt on it looks fresh just like other videos he posts. I'm not saying he didn't improve them from the state they were in at the beginning of the video but I am saying the paint has been freshly chipped and it looks like he just threw it in the dirt and let it dry before the video. I'm blocking this channel so these fake restoration videos don't show up on my feed
That cat was like "If that's the new dinner bell, I ain't hungry".
Got that “Yeah uhhh lemme just starve to death real quick so I no longer have to hear that sound” feeling
OMG THE KITTY IS SOOO CUTE
Very good video. This is the first time I’ve ever seen the inside of a Siren!
Cross threads on that nut was nice touch
Fun to spin dry bearings with air, if you don't expect a long lasting bearing.
Ever heard of masking tape? This has to be one of the most half-assed restoration jobs I've seen.
Far from the tidiest restoration I've seen on TH-cam. The drilling out on the lathe was painful to watch!
Great
Lol
Never blow dry bearings they will explode!!...not a joke!
🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for no music so we can enjoy the sounds of the workshop

Thank you for rescuing a piece of history.
By the way... you ruined those bearings, never blow air through bearings, just repack new grease in.

This was a little like watching a kindergarten art class.
Where on Earth did you go to kindergarten!?
Not everyone have access to high end tools, and experience is a matter of time.

I guarantee you would have smashed your finger with a hammer the first couple swings. Fact
Good Restoration and Video
0:06 The paintbrush marks in the mud are a little insulting...
Wdym
4:12, when you haven't cleaned your ears and I really long time.
Great technique on the bearing installation.
😬
Well those bearing will not last long
Well done
Excellent work!
Congrats!

It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it also!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up for the support of your channel
Nice
Nice
Please wear safety glasses.

You're a really good grinder
You should sanding before painting for removing rough and sharp edge
Great job, and beautiful cat... who apparently doesn't care much for your siren!
goodjob!
Great
Satisfying
"Scramble! Scramble!" The cat scrambled... 😉
2:14 Thanks for giving me a black eye lol
Good job but, please, put a guard on the angle grinder!

Nice restauration. Sounds useful. Sadly.

Nice job you did restoring that siren. It looks much better than before. It works like a charm, too. Great work.
Aww, you frightened the cute shop supervisor! Nice restoration, though.
poor fluff ball😨 but great video
Just my every freaking day
one like just for the cat 🙂 and one dislike just to scaring him!!!
please do not blow bearings very very dangerous
How so? What would happen?
I enjoyed this video keep on making them and they will be even better.
Really nice job! Liked your studio audience as well.
Right on
It's not My Mechanics level but it's ok. You've got yourself a new sub. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Love how all that loose dirt end up on the item to be restored...lol
Perfect restoration and work mate ! Keep going !!
Great job👍
Very good restoration project 🖤
Cool
When I see a pattern in the mud all over an object that indicates it was smeared on is when I lose respect for a "restoration" channel.
*Restoration, with gloves, I already know the end result will be garbage*
Forbidden Nutella...
I dono how i feel about this video,😬😬😬 maby go watch some videos and learn a few tips and tricks
I think im getting a siren soon. Apparently its a hand crank siren with a motor slapped onto it
Edit: it's a Model A
Painful to watch
Just a note: latex gloves won't last long with petroleum-based products, such as oil and gas. Nitrile is the material you need.
P-50 siren 🪦 RIP
COOL 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Maybe Manual Siren Machine ? Very Difficulty
Good ii boss 👍👍😊😊😍

Nice work. But od green would matched original color
Nice work, did not know that sirens depends upon a built-in air blower...
Not exactly a siren, so much as a zombie's moan. Still, it works.
Great job! You've earned my subscription.
I'll be honest, i thought you needed to swing it like a war hammer to play(?) it
TH-cam ADVERTS ARE A NUISANCE AND SHOULD BE COMPLETELY BANNED PERIOD
Really cool. How does that thing actually work? I mean what produces the sound?

Think playing card in a bicycle spike, but the card is air
I was thinking of guffawing like the Riddler; also going MMMHEHE UHHUHHUH like Beavis and Butthead. About testing the old timer air raid siren.

At 2:30, you think he should get a longer screwdriver so he can reach the screw? 🤣
Personally, I liked the brush marks where the mud was applied to the outer casing.
😐
the paint was crap
😂🤣😅 Hahahahaha I remember after the war they works great and we have had one on the roof of the house; what have happen to them who knows?.

Why recondition a siren? You gonna call in the chickens? Or do you know something about air raids in the future?
