Sohyang delivers the spirit of support and consolation withher wondrous voice in a great performance befitting the classic.
For me what makes Sohyang great is (of course her vocal ability) her ability to deliver the message of the lyrics. Even though I have heard the song and know the lyrics, when she sings it is as if I heard it for the first time. Like I FINALLY get what the message is about.

Nice reaction VE. I smiled all day when I first heard Sohyang (after I wiped the tears from my eyes). She has many great live performances. Mostly from TV shows that have good production quality. She has decided not to sign with a big label and do lots of studio work. She does some OSTs other studio work, but mostly she sings live to reach people directly. A lot of these live appearances are at public events with low recording quality. She sing a lot in churches. Apparently, she wants to help folks through their troubles with her voice. She definitely helped me at a time with life didn't seem worth it. Seems like she's done OK financially, but she's definitely shunned the big payoff a talent of her caliber could receive. I love her, as do thousands of others in just about every part of the world. Check out Everyone or Arirang Alone from Immortal Songs 2, Misty or Day Day from Begin Again Korea, or Dear Love or Mona Lisa from King of Masked Sings (she wears a mask). These performances span a wide set of genres.

GREAT reaction. This song showcased only a small sample of the flexibility in the PHENOMENAL So Hyang's voice.
Her range is RIDICULOUS and her breath control is INSANE. BTW, So Hyang, her husband, along with assistants, arrange all of the music for her live performances. This performance is from 2015, and in 2021, her voice is better than ever. Reacting to So Hyang, is one of the best investments in time.

Sohyang is the treasure of South Korea but outside is not so well known. Sohyang is a gospel singer and cancer survivor and due to her faith and health you wont find her on any large label but as someone else here said. once hooked there is no escape.
A very brave lady after going through all the pain and suffering she gives hope to other cancer sufferers they too can live a normal life and fulfill their any dreams they carry in them. Thankyou for telling us her story much appreciated. An amazing story.

When I first heard Sohyang sing this song I could not figure out what I was hearing from her that was so astonishing. She was simply singing far better than anyone else I had ever heard sing. It doesn't matter whether they were male or female, Sohyang was just better. Now that I have watched many, many analyses of her singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" I have finally managed to accumulate enough comprehension of what she is doing. She is belting higher into that G5 or G#5 than anyone else can. That is straight from a professional opera singer whose analysis I watched. To go straight into that G5 (whatever it is) at the end is basically unheard of in the singing world. He did not know of anyone else in the world who could do that. Who am I to argue with an expert? Virtually everything Sohyang sings is better than what anyone else can do. And her voice is more beautiful and carries so much emotion that I have never heard anything like it before. So there. I am out of words and Voice Enthusiast will have to explain it better if you want to know more, ha, ha! 🤷♂😮👌😇💘

She is amazing but I still prefer her singing in her native tongue, such beautiful songs where she shows more emotion and so much passion. Yeah, she and her best friends Cho Yong Jin aka ALi Cho, and Park Ki Young are three of the most amazing singers in S. Korea, plus there is Son Seung Yeon aka Sonnet Son, and Song So Hee as well as Sun Woo Janga all incredible and the ones I love the most. In all honesty, I still prefer ALi Cho over all of them she is my all-time favorite
