She is the vocal master, not just in perfection but conveying emotion. I seriously think no one is her equal.
She blew the roof on this one. The audience is overtaken by her rendition. As I commented before, if Earth had 9 more like her, it would be self luminous.

Michael bolton was the special guest, he got invited to the show called Immortal songs 2 in south korea, they have to sing michael bolton's songs
After hearing this he also invited her to sing with him at some of his concert's. The fact she has turned down so many record contracts and money cause she only wants to sing to make people happy is humbling
We have the same facial expressions while watching Sohyang's performances lol she is amazing, you should react to "Everyone" by Sohyang as well :)

You really need to see her version 'Raise Me Up'. Another one that she takes to a different level with her arrangement, but in a completely different way. Also her vocal masterclass performance of 'Everyone' is a must-see. Use the Vimeo version and turn on CC's for the full impact. After those, you should really check out her performances from 'Begin Again' last year. They will show you a completely different side to her talents. @@TeaTimeWithTravis I am sure I saw that since I don't miss a one of your uploads, just forgot. However. 'Everyone' and the 'Begin Again' performances are amazing. On 'Begin Again', it is her and a group of other popular singers putting on impromptu, acoustic, busking concerts to lift the spirits of the Korean people. Her rendition of the Whitney classic 'I will Always Love You' is simply stunning. Wait until you hear the "sax" solo. The sparse imstrumentation and stripped-down nature of the arrangements presents a whole other side of her vocal control and emotive prowess. They are much more delicate and intimate.

This was from Immortal Songs 2 Micheal Bolton Special. All the artists arranged his songs/covers.
"So Hyang" two syllables, there is no "hi" sound in her name.
Checking, you have reacted to most of her huge numbers except for "Everyone" which is said to be her hardest and longest song. This was another from Immortal Songs 2.
I was saying it the way you described before and was being told I was saying it wrong. 🙃

This letter pronunciation combination doesn't exist in English so we tend to go all over the map trying to say it correctly. But if you find it impossible to deal with, just call her So Young. I think even the most natty Korean will forgive you. 👌

@@lonniekramlich6241 It is apparently very slight. There is actually a video on TH-cam with So Hyang explaining how to pronounce her name. And several Koreans got on my case for pronouncing it So Young. So, that is the sum total of my knowledge. I can only go by how Koreans themselves say how to pronounce it. 🤷♂️

Lean on Me was released in 1972 by Bill Withers and is actually the more popular version Michael Bolton only did a cover as So Hyang is doing in this performance .. only us super old folks realize these things that a simple Google search in 5 seconds can explain .. same mistake is made with I Will Always Love You .. not Whitneys song originally a Billboard topper in the mid 1970s written composed and sung by country music legend Dolly Parton .. Whitney got the song from singing it in the Soundtrack of the movie The Bodygaurd which she starred in.
I realize it’s an older song but I was saying she is tributing Michael Bolton as he is the one in the audience as she’s singing.

Great reaction Travis. Same as me. So, I think the closest English sound for her name would be simply "so young." The H is kind of not there at all. Maybe there's a bit of a guttural start to the Y. Have to ask a Korean for sure.

And considering that you are a foreigner even in the ears of picky Koreans, it is fully understandable, but it is not accurate. Since there is only one way to pronounce each Korean spelling, I think it would be better to pronounce it correctly. First syllable of her name 'So' is no problem at all. The English sound is perfectly same to that of Korean. But it takes some practice to prounce the second syllable of her name 'Hyang'. First, pronounce 'yang' as in 'yankee'. And start pronunciation by adding 'H' sound to it. As a result, you will breathe out a little more than pronouncing 'yang', and that will be the correct pronunciation. If you want to hear native Korean pronunciation, refer to your reaction video.
