I don't know how much traction this class action lawsuit will gain, but I wish they'd include pre-owned purchases from Toyota dealers. In Sep 2021, I purchased a pre-owned Toyota Mirai from a Toyota dealer and received the fuel card. The salesperson gave me the impression new stations were coming online and that hydrogen fuel was going to easier to acquire. No one mentioned issues with short fills, point-of-sale issues, broken pumps, broken stations, and lengthy downtime for repairs. I wished I had seen this LA Times' video, "Is California’s hydrogen highway a failed experiment?" before I made my regretful purchase. I sold my 2018 Mirai back to the same Toyota dealer where I purchased it. I am so glad to be rid of it. 🙌
Just compare the Mirai to a Tesla Model 3 Highland, the superiority of the Tesla is mind boggling. If you have a wall connector in your garage you even spent only a few seconds to deal with charging - you just plug it in when you arrive and plug it out in the morning when you leave.
Toyota should at least refill the hydrogen fueling cards to 20k. I think a lot of owners will have more patience for the infrastructure to build if Toyota did that at least.
hydrogen prices in Europe 5 euro per kg, We pay $36 per kg , i purchased Mirai hydrogen was $13 less than 2 years ago ,also range never 400 miles not even close max you get 310 if the ac is on,
Toyota Australia is still telling us here that Hydrogen is the future and EVs are dead. Hydrogen is a good technology but not for mass vehicle adoption. (ps. there is only one filling station in the state here)
I'm not a lawyer either, but I just don't see how Toyota is responsible for this. So long as they did a reasonable amount of research before hand to see if the fuel suppliers could handle it, I see no issues with how they have conducted themselves. Now the fueling companies on the other hand have a LOT of explaining to do.
Tell that to the lawyers. It is Toyotas fault. Right now the case is in arbitration. Not a class action lawsuit. Every case is unique. Toyota playing games
does toyota just prefer hydrogen to electric? or they prefer the way it drives vs full electric? but they love hybrid. maybe just too much exploding and battery waste and lithium? they are continuing hydrogen so maybe it will still catch on? nuclear can produce hydrogen.
Not really shocked. It’s also not super easy living with an electric car. Everything revolves around gas. Hopefully all the infrastructure gets better.
Beg to differ. At least with an electric car you can charge it at home. That is on the person who thought charging outside would be seamless. With hydrogen you can only refuel outside and the problems stemming from this are just too many.
@@koi_chan26 depends… a lot of homes only have a 100 amp breaker panel and / or most require costly upgrades. Or charge on 120…? and take days to complete a charge. So… the infrastructure isn’t there like a gas car… I have a gas station in my town of 200 people. Is there a charge station that can charge my car in 4 minutes with 450 miles of range? Oh wait… no there isn’t… and the car I bought only does 250 miles…. Trust me it’s an inconvenience… as an owner of both… I can say that. It’s not for everyone until the infrastructure improves. And that’s not even mentioning all the broken chargers or charging deserts…. Or apartment/renter/city dwellers. Not all of the above applies to me… in fact most doesn’t… some of the above does, though. I couldn’t imagine both me and the wife having electric. If we did and wanted to charge the car at home at the same time… that wouldn’t work. The owner of the Marai should have known better though…
@@NightKnight2048 Agree to disagree. At least if I had a BEV I know for a fact I would be better off than with a FCEV. I just hated the idea of charging a car but with hydrogen I could just fill it up like a gas car and be on my way. But let me explain this to you. When I purchased my '22 Mirai XLE I did prior research along with salespeople saying hydrogen stations will expand and the cost of hydrogen will go down. Now the cost of hydrogen at the time was $17/kg, a big jump from when it was $12-13/kg so I thought it was already expensive as is. But with a 15K fuel card I would be getting free fuel essentially for over 3 years and then I can sell the car back to Toyota if need be. And infrastructure was decent for what I needed it for. I chose FCEV because I had a station 2 minutes away from my house, and 2 stations 5-10 minutes away from where I worked so that was perfect. But little did I know (I doubt anyone would} that their would be a massive hydrogen shortage. This set me back and I had to be in a rental for over 5 months. I was grateful for the rental but after that shortage and I was back in my Mirai things changed. True Zero starts charging $36/kg and it is still firm on that price today. Each fill up was basically $160+, greatly draining my fuel card that was supposed to last over 3 years. Toyota could have given out extra funds or something to alleviate the huge price increase but no, nothing. As for the next thing that happened, this is what ended my time with the Mirai. Shell Hydrogen decided to abandon all of their stations in SF, where I reside leaving me with the True Zero station, one that constantly gives me problems and is a major inconvenience for me. I cannot receive a rental anymore because they have changed their policy many times and I no longer qualify. Just the constant need to be in a rental is terrible because its not by choice. So yes BEV or FCEV there are definite problems, but BEV infrastructure is leaps ahead while FCEV is actually getting worse. No one wants these cars anymore. The huge incentives aren't for you to consider driving an FCEV, it's just so dealerships can get rid of as many Mirai's as they can. Keep in mind Toyota SF is still selling this car, with no stations nearby. That is what upsets me.
@@NightKnight2048 I witnessed a hydrogen station get built and removed within months. Hydrogen is expensive, stations are not reliable, infrastructure is at a standstill (for example stations supposed to be built years ago but never happened). So Toyota expects Mirai owners to just 'deal with it' because they discounted the car and gave us a fuel card? If I can't fuel up, I am unable to drive my car and use my fuel card which will expire eventually.
How is it toyota's fault the hydrogen stations are down a lot? As far as I know they don't own any of them. Also, not doing any research on a big purchase such as the Mirai is the responsibility of the buyer.
Because they actively advertise the vehicle as being as easy to refuel as a gas car, and they drastically overestimate the range. It’s illegal to purposely misrepresent a product.
It’s not their fault but they can’t sue the station companies, it’s not illegal to have a bad service/product, but they can sue Toyota for advertising it inaccurately and potentially have it go their way
It’s too bad because the Mirai seems like a really nice car. At its heart it’s just another EV so if Toyota could somehow replace the hydrogen gubbins with a straight forward battery pack it would function just like any other EV. But the cost of a battery would probably be $15k or $20k plus the retrofit so it wouldn’t be very cost effective.
I have absolutely no issues finding hydrogen. It also depends on your driving habits i can go 2 weeks without filling up and when i do need it , its available. I get around 390 mpge at every fill.... purchasing the vehicle for me was an obvious no. As soon as you leave the lot the car loses its value by around 20k, leasing is the way to go. They gave me a $7,500 rebate check in the mail, a $15,000 hydrogen card, and $4,500 towards tax relief ,all that on a 3 year lease. Once the lease is over, i am returning the car without having to pay for fuel in 3 years 🤯... i am pretty much driving the car for free😅😅😅😅
Whoever claims that my car gave me 300 or more mileage I swear to God it pissed me off. I have this car. I don't get 240. I don't really understand why you coming and claiming 300 or more than 300 this car is a garbage, it's not about hydrogen. It's about finding hydrogen. It's trash.
@theraeesb7272 sucks for you, buddy. I have no reason to come on here and lie. You should have done your research before purchasing the vehicle, like where the 1st and 2nd closest hydrogen stations nearest to you are. No one forced you to get yourself in that car.... I was smart, and I leased the vehicle. 2nd I don't drive recklessly. I keep it on eco mode and drive the speed limit. Your driving habits are what fuks up your range... quit crying and make changes to your driving habits. It's that easy champ.
Please don't force Mirai's on everyone. It is only for certain types of people. I urge everyone to research before getting this car. Sadly for me, I researched and still got screwed over. Just know what you're getting into.
How can I join the lawsuit?
Could this be the lawsuit that breaks Toyota? Like the lawsuit that broke VW and forced them to establish electrify Anerica ?
Would you please tell us how can one join this lawsuit?
