Fair to say Taylor has taken to this TH-cam lark quite well. Sure I remember him saying, before he met Alex in one of the early videos, he'd never been on camera. Seems very natural
That is a gorgeous colour, and the grey interior does off-set it nicely (Like Taylor, I don't normally like grey interiors). And that engine bay is immaculate. You can tell this car has been the previous owners absolute pride and joy.
8:31 What I really love about Taylor is he knows what he's talking about, comparing that shifter to a bolt action rifle perfectly sums it up. That's like how Clarkson describing things on a car, very well said!
To be fair, that’s how every person that fits a short-shift to any car describes the action of the gear level. Even if they’ve never seen a rifle in their life.
Once again Taylor has shown us his potential in this, as a relative newbie to the cartube scene he's FKIN ace in front of the camera! No gimmicks, or shouting, just a genuinely nice bloke who's passionate about what he loves, bravo Taylor
@@ivanjovanovic362 Taylor likes men, in case anyone ever doubted it. And his preferences don’t matter, he is a great person and a skilled mechanic. Moreover AutoAlex can rely on his expertise in buying and fixing cars. He is a great company for Alex and Rory

Honestly Taylor, your such an incredibly natural person on camera, add to this being so incredibly knowledgeable on cars, let alone BMW's topped up by your passion, you are a legend. How great it has been that Alex stumbled across you. You all are my Top Gear now, I don't think I could complement you more than that.
Love a Taylor episide. Alex, Rory, Taylor and Jooosshhhieeee, are the perfect car show hosts. Alex being ’The old one', Rory the mis-guided young guy, Taylor the funny knowlegelable guy, and Jooossshhiiee being the hardcore spanners guy. Briliant. Thanks for making such great content guys, thoroughly enjoy every episode and appreciate all the hard work you all put in to the Auto Alex brand. Legends 😎.
Would love to have a V8 soundtrack to that thing but there is no way your putting in a 440ish lbs engine to replace a 270ish lbs one without badly affecting the handling. I think thats before accessories, clutch flywheel and gearbox too, all of which will be heavier. You could push the engine way back to keep the balance roughly the same but you'd have to cut it up some and it will always ride like you have a pretty chunky buddy sat beside you Lighter option needed if you want to keep it handling anything like it does now
I'm thinking the same. The extra weight and the shifted weightdistribution will have a negative impact on the handling and feel of the car. Not sure the V8- soundtrack is worth it... Why not just re- map it to make it more responsive and put on a really nice exhaust?
Slept in my e39 at Donington Park recently, proper airbed and blacked out the windows with reflective sheets cut to size - unbelievably quiet and comfortable!

Taylor.... The purple tag rack is not the quickest rack available and its also prone to wear and subsequently spewing its oil out. The best rack to get is the Z3 rack (Silver tag), IIRC it's even a quicker ratio than the E46 M3 setup equates too. Its a seriously nice rack and I recommend the upgrade while your at it! I see what you mean about returning to an E46 constantly and wanting one as your forever car, in my case it's the E36 though, out of all the cars Ive had over the 10 years or so that Ive been driving, the E36 is what I keep coming back to. They never fail to make me happy when I drive them. I had an E46 once, it was a great car but the electronic throttle lag was enough to turn me off of them, blipping the throttle on a downshift in an E36 is just so much snappier and more responsive because the throttle is a mechanical cable.
There should be side channels like this for each one for personal projects and the main channel be for the collaboration of all for challenges and road trips. Each one has been an awesome influence in the auto world. Looking forward to every adventure they have.
My 330d Touring is currently getting its subframe reinforced. Also I did a roof rail delete, there’s a 3D printed kit that you can get from America that fills the gaps left when taking the rails off.
It’s really interesting to see this E46. I have actually only ever driven two E46s, and the one I drove last week was my BMW mechanics E46 touring, albeit totally standard and with a 6cyl (not even sure which engine it was). He lent it to me while my E90 323i was having a service. As much as I like my E90, I must admit i could happily enjoy a E46 touring but especially a manual one. Alas out here in Oz they are pretty uncommon as most E46s came as autos and by now most E46s have pretty high Kms on them. Personally, I don’t like V8s whereas the sound and feel of the BMW 6cyl is so good. So if your car was mine, all I would be doing is improving the exhaust and induction sound of the car.
Taylor, I'd say do your research regarding the M62, I planned on doing a similar swap on my e36 and remember changing plans because I would have had to add a bunch of bump steer to it since the steering rack would have had to be relocated. It has however been a while since I read that, but I bet you know someone who might have a v8 e36/e46 (are quite similar anyways) to test drive before actually going through with this plan Either way, wish you the best with that car, sure seems like a keeper!
No it doesn't. Don't share misinformation. My mate built a rhd e36 with a m62, all he did was modify the exhaust manifolds and make a custom steering joint and fabricate his own engine mounts, it runs a zf 5 speed from a 328 with an adapter plate, the rack hasn't been moved and it handles amazing as both a fast road car and his drift car for track days. I suggest you find someone who has done it properly and replicate that.
I’m with you. Something about the e46. I’ve had 4 e46s…been in an e92 330d for nearly a year. Whilst I do like the car a lot, it’s missing something that my previous e46s had
N62 with e53 wiringloom/ecu Ews combo and e65/e60 sump, and you have 80hp more then m62 and if the engine is out it's easy to sort the n62 weak points, so new valvestem seals and rest of the seals and you have a fast car

I've said before and I'll say it again, I love how this channel is basically Wheeler Dealers while the main channel is a bit more Top Gear. It's a perfect mix.
Bmw streering racks I believe this correct been awhile since looked as I changed my yellow tag rack to purple tag on a e46 330d and improved drive fair bit. 1. Yellow tag rack slowest (3 turns lock to lock) normally on base models. 2. Purple tag rack medium ( 2.5 turns lock to lock) normally on m sports 3. Green tag rack (believe 2 turns lock to lock) fitted to M powered

I've said before and I'll say it again, I love how this channel is basically Wheeler Dealers while the main channel is a bit more Top Gear. It's a perfect mix.
get a 330D Auto Rear end. Big diff, big shafts, 2.81 ideal for cruising
Taylor is the best of the 3. Amazing personality.
Bmw streering racks I believe this correct been awhile since looked as I changed my yellow tag rack to purple tag on a e46 330d and improved drive fair bit.
1. Yellow tag rack slowest (3 turns lock to lock) normally on base models.
2. Purple tag rack medium ( 2.5 turns lock to lock) normally on m sports
3. Green tag rack (believe 2 turns lock to lock) fitted to M powered
It looks beautiful I hope everything works out! 💪🏻
Lovely vlog Taylor. Thank you !
1:34 There’s a dent right next to your hand, thought 💭 I’d share it so you get it sorted ❤
I always know this touring e46 for following old owner on Instagram and love all step this pass to!
I'm glad Taylor stayed as the new owner!
can you show us how to upgrade the Head unit on these! my 05 x5 has the same unit and NEEDS an upgrade!
Fantastic content, great car. The E46 Made me actually like german cars, owning one myself. I don't regret it one bit ❤
Always good to see some love for the E46
