Such an emotional thing to watch, what a beautiful car your father had. So sorry for you and your family, Taylor is gonna cherish the car forever, couldn't of gone to a better home. 💐Rest in peace Johnny 💐
Yes, my son and I met Taylor briefly at the Classic Car show in November. Comes across as a lovely, gentle chap and he was so kind to us. This is top quality content.
Ah bless John and Taylor! Handled well just like that beauty of a car will be! Oddly inspiring that John is still so emotionally raw from, what must be, one of his closest friends passing 8 years ago, Johnny must have been a top guy and an even better friend, and clearly not forgotten
Got bit emotional there myself too, pain in Johns eyes and expression on his face tells a story of how much he misses his best friend and how much that car matters
Think John deserves a wee trip to the ring or Le Mans when this is all done. I thought he was just nervous to be on camera at first but I think he just misses his friend and found it hard talking about how much the car meant to him
Taylor not only sold us the story of the car. He also shared Johnny memories to all of us. Any friend or family would greatly appreciate how the car is not only loved, but the works done by Johnny is being recognized. RIP
Is V2 just Taylor's channel now? Because I am here for that. I love that sentiment "We are a family of car enthusiasts", finer words have never been spoken! And John, there is nothing wrong with getting a touch emotional seeing your friends' car moving. I'm sure Taylor will do you, the car and Jonny proud.
@@millskidd8099nope I think I worked it out the day that podcast came out... Most people aren't aware of companies house, if you search for Alex on there you can see the exact name of the new business all is revealed there... Can't wait!! *Spoiler alert*😅
Part of me really really wants Taylor to start his own you tube channel, but not at expense of appearing on this or the main channel. The three of you plus guests have kept me smiling through a difficult time and I’m about to go in forr treatment for depression and eating disorder. I’m planning on coming home a lot lighter and equipped with some tools to better move forward, making some big decisions about my future. I won’t be able to access TH-cam whilst I: away but can’t wait to get home to catch up with the adventures of the channel. Keep it up fellas.
Good on you Daniel - as someone else who deals with mental health issues I can definitely empathise with your situation. It's great to have a little feel-good escapism like the Autoalex channel as they're a fun bunch of lads and a good laugh. Take each day as it comes mate and believe in yourself - you have it within you to turn your life around.
I had an e28 528i thirty years ago. I know exactly how long ago because we drove our newborn daughter home from hospital in it. It's her 30th birthday tomorrow. That aside, they are a fantastic car probably the best of many bmws we've had.
ROSPA used to use a 28 m5 for their advanced driver training as they're so controlable when the back goes. You really have to punish one to lose it. I've got a 535 auto and while there isn't really a top (120 in the carpet) 30 to 70 goes in a blink.
Perhaps Taylor should take over the V2 Channel Although i would expect he is very busy doing his own stuff Another great looking 5 series from back in the day Well Done Taylor
The presentation of this is fantastic, full credit to Taylor in the way he dealt with the situation and just shows a completely different side to the jovial presenting we normally see. Really impressive and shows how much of a natural Taylor is to presenting.
Loved this, Taylor you showed your class there fella, handling this with compassion and respect ❤ Good job. Looking forward to the next instalment. Cars like this truly are family members.
Only Taylor could have done this video, car and past owner justice. Thanks for all your do Taylor. So professional in everything you do. I love thr banter and laughs you have, bu the more serious professional you, I love also. Thanks.
Touching great video. I'm in Brisbane, Australia and have 2x e28's (an M535i and what was originally am M535i upgraded in 1996 to an Alpina B10-"Alpina Australia" kit fitted, not OEM from Buchloe, Germany). Gorgeous car (especially the rims)-Johnny will be proud once it's restored.
RIP Johnny your car is in safe hands and I hope you’re smiling down on it as it will make more memories and more people smile 🔥💙 That piece in BMW magazine needs framing and either giving to his mum or put in pride of place somewhere 🔥
The Alpina airdam is just like the one I had on my 535i, which, I sold to a Welshman for $2500 and 200 lbs of Alaska salmon. I still have the bill of sale which listed the fish.
I teared up when that engine started i can’t lie. That was an incredible moment and such an incredible thing you’ve done especially explaining how we are just one big car enthusiast family. Sharing our passion with one another
Feel for the bloke who was there to help sell the car. Amazing the memories and soul a car can possess, especially the memories of their owners. Glad its gone to have another special life with Taylor/autoalex crowd.
My dad had a D reg M535i with a dog leg box. 150mph family car as I remember. Used to race motor bikes with me mam and us 3 kids in. Very funny at the time.
Taylor, you're a true asset to this channel and couldn't have handled this any better! Johnny would be so happy and even more proud to see what you're doing with this absolute stonker of a car. Cannot wait to see what the future holds for it!
My 1st car when i got my full license at 16 was a 87 525e but someone wrote it off, so brought a 86 528i off a farm converted it to manual/swapped in a 3.5 an now have had that car about 20 years sadly been sitting around for 7 years now as pulled engine out to do some performance upgrades ended up with a head injury an never got back to work so never had money to fix it (the spare engines i brought always ended up with problems) So i hope one day to have my dream finished (especially since it was about 70k to build originally for what i wanted but thanks to parts being more available that's dropped to about half) So as an old BMW lover appreciate you doing the right thing and giving it a good home :)
Crack in the head or severe corrosion past the fire ring (or possibly head gasket), coolant has dribbled into a bore, rusted it and dribbled past the rings into the sump. Plenty of used heads about if this one is buggered - 2.5 2.8 and 3.5 heads are the same 358 casting.
I am SO EXCITED for this to be a series! Taylor is an absolute class act and a fantastic presenter, and I'm really looking forward to him doing his best to save this car. It's clearly a very special BMW; here's hoping it gets back on the road and John gets to see it again!!!
the end part when taylor got the car on the trailer, "at the end of the day we are a family of car enthusiasts" pretty much tells you his full character what a guy he is i love watching him!
Taylor, love your addition to the V2 channel. You are a natural and I really enjoy the V2 channel now focusing on you alone. I did notice he was genuinely upset, and you came across as very caring. 👍
I had 3 E28's back in the day when you could buy them for £2-300. The 525 I had used to cut out if you gave it full throttle because the air flow meter flap used to stick wide open. Many a time I had to pop the bonnet jump out and smack the top of it. My mates missus backed into it and broke all the front lights in her Scirroco, it's strange I loved that car but I can't for the life of me recall what I did with it.
I feel like more and more video's featuring E28's are starting to pop up, hopefully their value will stay somewhat the same before I get the chance to buy one. Has been my dream car for quite a while now
Unbelievably high level content. Taylor is a class act. Especially how he handled such an emotional moment. I, at best, was moderately into cars before seeing your guys content… Slowly becoming a car guy myself now 😂
Awesome video this and nice to hear the story and a little bit about the owner Johnny who clearly had a passion for cars... I echo all the love for Taylor and it's nice to see some more slightly serious/interesting Taylor content which he delivers excellently and this just compliments the other AutoAlex content, I look forward to each new video! I got to meet Alex and Rory at the British Car Show last year, unfortunately Taylor wasn't there but hoping to finally meet him this year at Shedfest or one of the other great car shows this year. So much great car content/shows just not enough time or money to do them all! I feel like 2023/2024 is a really good time for the car community feels a bit more reignited and some really high quality/entertaining TH-cam content being put out... AutoAlex et al defiantly playing a big part in that 👌
Taylor is a smart mechanic. Would never have thought of rocking the car back and forth so that the engine could turn over. Look forward to this broken BMW being ressurrected and given a new life.
Can see the geezas emotions running through the motions as he stares at the car when its pulled out the garage. Felt for him, lots of memories of that car and his mate as he said
Owned a lot of these, 2xM535i and 3x528i's, great cars and fast in manual form, just make sure the cam oil feed bolts are tight as it will eat its camshaft if they come loose and look out for rot around the sills and floors and front inner on front doors. M30 engine can do mega miles if looked after. Looks like that one has the 'shadow line' option, black window trims and colour matched bumpers.
Nice one Taylor you big softie! That was the perfect way to go about things with emotions as they were. And to leave it on a positive note that you’d like all involved to see and experience the car again. Very sympathetic 👏
why is everyone saying get his own channel? dont split the dream team, they all work well together and im sure they'll grow faster/bigger as a team than individuals
Out of the whole autoalex channel after he left carthrottle the way Taylor has emerged from occasional side kick to actual TV standard presenter has been great to follow
Terrific video, Taylor on his own is fantastic, well spoken, good choice of words and respectful to the seller/ sellers representative. Good to watch and mature presentation.
Look at Taylor go, what a beast, literally! Made me emotional and everything… such a beauty of a car as well, let’s get it running soon please. Great video, cheers!
Even now, so many years after the E28 launched, it's outclassing current BMWs...and it's now even close. BMW used to be fucking amazing, and the E28 is one of the ultimate expressions of that. Best of luck with it Taylor. I hope it treats you well.
Should have pulled the plugs and poured oil down the bore before turning over a seized engine, probably wants more than a headgasket now 😂 awesome find though look forward to seeing more on this
I live in Great Yarmouth and never thought it would be featured on this channel. Beautiful car and a really cool history. Never deserved to be hidden away in a garage in Great Yarmouth lol
As much as I enjoy the main channel videos, because they are a good laugh and proper entertainment, I really look forward to stuff like this and I agree with a lot of the comments down here. Watching Taylor getting excited and having that kid like passion about cars is so cool to watch. It's not about 0 - 60 times, it's about enjoying the legacy of the car itself, the time spent, and then enjoying them.
Absolutely awesome Taylor, what a motor 👌🏻❤️. When it fired up it actually took my breath away. I can totally get why Pat got so emotional, I’d be the same. Really looking forward to seeing a lot more of this car. Great job guys 👍🏻❤️
It's always sad when you come across a car where the owner has passed. It would be nice to commemorate him when the car has been fixed back up. Maybe a special air freshener with his photo from the magazine of him inside the BMW. Or his name on the back in a special writing.
Usually an old car is just a piece of rusty metal (miata owner here 😅) but with that history behind... it becomes something much more significant. Keep up the good work Taylor, I'm excited to see how the restauration goes. Cheers!
Fantastic video, Taylor, and a nice car with a great back story. Rory's KTM 125 Duke looks a bit suspect - Cat D in 2014, which I find a bit strange because it looks like a 2017 onwards model.
This car should stay exactly as Johnny modified it, it just needs a refresh. In memory of Johnny. I can't wait to see her in perfect condition at the Nürburgring.
Love this Taylor you are a gentleman and getting alot better on the camera ... pitty about the coolant in the oil but looking forward to seeing this old girl back on the road 🫡

Fantastic video, Taylor, and a nice car with a great back story. Rory's KTM 125 Duke looks a bit suspect - Cat D in 2014, which I find a bit strange because it looks like a 2017 onwards model.
Taylor is an excellent host. More of this please :)
You're a bloody lovely man, Taylor...
This car should stay exactly as Johnny modified it, it just needs a refresh. In memory of Johnny. I can't wait to see her in perfect condition at the Nürburgring.
Wasn’t quite the same result for my barn find E12.. camshaft had siezed and had to rebuild the head after sitting for 30 years!
Taylor does a fantastic job on this channel really enjoying his solo and co presenting
Love this Taylor you are a gentleman and getting alot better on the camera ... pitty about the coolant in the oil but looking forward to seeing this old girl back on the road 🫡
This is not only a car it's definitely history of a man and the love for cars.❤ Love the video Taylor!
Brought a tear to my eye 🥺 At least it’s in good hands with Taylor 🤞🏾
