YES.. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to have a DECENT dealer... And YOU SAY frustrating??? >>> My Ex GF found a car she wanted to replace her old rust box, so, I phoned the dealer, asked the various questions, got everything sorted and said to him... "Ok, we'll be coming by motorbike (my old Suzuki RF900RW), we should be there by 4 PM, and we're coming from Grimsby (His dealership was near Blackpool 155 Mile away from us), so... we are PRETTY MUCH SET on the car so please, hold on to it till closing time, thank you"... And he agreed to wait... So we donned our motorcycle gear, checked the weather (said there might be rain, and so took waterproofs too), and then filled up at a local garage and off we set... We get to about Doncaster area, and then the bloody heavens opened up! So we pull over and quickly suit up with waterproofs and set off again. An hour later we've battled through dead slow traffic on the motorways around Manchester (by this time getting as cold and wet as just simply jumping fully dressed into a pool!) We decided to stop at a service station around Bolton for a quick cigarette break, at which point I decided to give the dealer a call to let him know we were about half hour or so away.... For him to say... "I just sold the car...." 2 Hours/117 Miles in the pissing cold and rain, battling with a good section of the motorway that was blocked by non moving traffic, and facing THE EXACT SAME PROSPECTS heading home... So, we had a quick warm up coffee/tea, I refilled the tank, and we set off back (yeah, I made her a bath as soon as we got back (I'm a well trained puppy haha))... But THAT DEALER... The trust Alex’s wife has in him blows my mind. My parents could never. Especially after the great car debacle of 2012. Mum needed a new car, big enough for 3 kids and room for the dog too. She’d been looking around for a month prior and had found a nice 2010 A6 Avant. She’d been to view it already and loved it. She said she’d be back next week to pay and collect it after it was serviced and MOT’d. Come collection day, Mum had been called in to work, so Dad went to collect it instead. Problem solved, or so she thought. Turns out, Dad had tried to argue with the guy about a very minor scratch on the paint which mum already knew about and didn’t bother her. Dad then refused to take the car and instead came home with a 2006 Jaguar X-type SALOON, almost exactly like the one he drove. We now had two saloon cars, neither of which could fit 3 car seats in at the same time and also no room for the dog. What he was thinking, to this day, I still don’t know.
I think your mother will call out your dad a blithering idiot for buying the same car as his. Or he could get away with it because he is driving a Jaaaag.

He was super dodgy, but I managed to confince him to give me his ID and I was desperate: so did the deal. Bearly slept a wink expecting the door to be kicked in. Went to the bank first thing, crapping it that the money was fake. They told me they had to count it by hand because it was 'damp'. It was all there, all real, and actually over by £80 (told the guy and he said to keep it). Great content as always. The podcast is my goto driving companion! Strip the door cards off the barn doors and check for cavity wax, in 2016/17 the garage I was at had an influx of these for warranty work for rusting around the rear handles just have a look inside the doors if they’ve been replaced they’ll be loaded with cavity wax
You mentioned that the barndoorns might not be as practical, and you’re right, but, it very possibly does have a kick to open sensor behind the bumper. My brother has it on his and works very well. Kick once for the right, twice for the left as well. Springs in the doors should be strong enough to open it completely without touching it 🤙🏻
I work at the mini plant and we use these for ferry cars, four blokes each shift use them twenty hours a day rarely going over 30mph, last car done 62k miles with out a service lol and it was a reject originally, great cars, oh and if it has easy access you can open the split doors by waving your foot underneath it.
Great buy Alex! I just picked up a 2020 Clubman Exclusive and am besotted with it, incredibly refined thing. The barn doors are hilarious, and they should both open when you hold down the boot button on the key - just make sure it's not against a wall or another car! Great colour combo too, Melting Silver has helped the car age really well.
I bought a van last year from a dealership for £8k and they said it would have to go through their “99 point inspection, service and MOT” before I would be able to pick it up. 2.5 weeks later I finally had a call that the car was ready! I had it 2 days and it started misfiring something chronic and it took 5 months for them to refund me! And that was only because I got legal representation. It put me off buying from small dealerships. I’d rather buy from a private seller who’s had the car for a long while. At least you can gauge the sort of person they are and where they live etc. which you can’t do with a dealer
great purchase - I just helped my parents find a 2021 Clubman Cooper and we are all very impressed with it, as well. They used to have an S 211 E-Class estate and wanted something smaller but still nice enough to drive on the autobahn. Obviously, the ride is not as smooth as the one in the E-Class with AIRMATIC was, but it's alright. The engine, although only a 1.5 is quite peppy and whilst I normally don't like double clutch transmissions, the one in the Mini doesn't bother me. Surprisingly the interior space - especially in the back - is almost as bis as the E-Class was, except for the boot of course. It's got LED headlights, Sunroof, Sat-Nav, adaptive Cruise, electric seats and some other stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect in a compact car. Was quite pricey though - had to pay 24.500 Euros with 30.000 km on the clock...
Can you and Taylor make a video on what you check when buying a car? It would be great to see what you guys look for when purchasing a car so I can do the same
Would love to see Clubman updates. My Clubman Diesel Cooper (Chilli Pack), the barn doors open if you swipe your foot under the centre of the bumper. Two swipes, opens both. Awesome if you are carrying something with no free hands.
Had one of those as a courtesy car once. The main disappointment for me was the line down the rear doors in viewing from the rear view mirror. It basically blanks out the road behind you. Can't really check who's behind you before you enjoy the open road
Great buy guys, I am now on my 4th new mini ( hatch, clubman and two countrymen) having owned three of the originals back in the 70s. They always make me smile when I drive them I have now got a 4 year old Countryman JCW absolute hoot to drive but took four adults plus lots of lugage back from Heathrow yesterday no problems Keep up the great content 😁
Love a good mini! the key has a button for the boot it should open the right door if you keep hold of the button. Once that’s open if you hold the button again it’ll open the left door
Just ordered 2x Accelera IOTA ST-68 for my Range Rover Autobiography with 20” wheels through Tire Streets. With the AA code they were £130 delivered. Unbelievable price. Thanks Alex, fingers crossed they are decent boots. Keep up the fantastic content. Love watching you and Taylor (and Rory)! 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Knowing that Alex and Taylor agree that Mini’s are good has made me happy because a Mini Cooper is my dream car that I can’t afford at the moment (mainly,y the insurance ) but hopefully will be able to in the future
Congrats ! Really good choice. I've got Clubman 2l D, 2017, manual. For 2 adults 3 children enough. We done 3 times by 3k each trip in europe. no problem at all.
I love these minis, this probably won’t get seen but if Masie is going to travel in the boot of the mini, where the rear seat backs mount to the car, there is a bracket you can lift up and click the seats into that changes them into a more upright position to give more space in the boot.
I have a Discovery 1 with the side opening rear door. The Mini probably isn't too bad with two doors vs one on the Landy but you do learn quickly that in car parks you shouldn't drive through one to park in the one opposite when they are arranged back to bac (so you're facing nose out of the space) because someone will fill the space behind you leaving no room to open the door!
UP! GTi !!! Mighty Car Mods have just gone through a CRAPLOAD OF STRESS converting standard Up! to a GTI Up!, and, come on, they're like little fast/zippy GO-CARTS! ESPECIALLY IF YOU re-wheel it, swap zorsts & Intercooler, upgrade suspension and tune it!! 😉 👌😎🇬🇧
I purchased a 2017 mini cooper hatch, 1.5 petrol. Endless trouble with it. 48k miles, it ended up developing a fault for the vanos system. Ended up having to replace 2 solenoids. Error kept coming up. Ended up having to spend another £££ to get the timing chain replaced which finally fixed it. Few months down the line it passed an MOT but it had an oil leak. After inspection, it required a new engine due to having a crack somewhere. Took it to webuyanycar and died a little inside from the amount of money I lost on that car.
The newer minis are very decent cars, iv had a f56 cooper s that did 60,000 in my ownership and only needed one wheel bearing, iv seen plenty of 1.5 petrol turbos with over 200,000km on them too and still drive very good, front number plate plastic panel is known to fade in the sun and the door shuts at least on the hatchs the rubber door seal use to wear the paint away but that was a warranty recall, hold the switch down on the roof above mirrior and the colours on the centre dash go into party mode and keep changing, also a wheel bearing is 100quid off neobros
@@Aaron19987 I agree to a point, but there are a large number of people who have diagnosed themselves based on Tik Tok videos, not to mention the fact that you can pretty much pay for a diagnosis from unscrupulous therapists
I don’t understand why people insist on cash. I was speaking to someone who said they’d go down to $26,000 AUD, but had to be cash. I don’t want to carry that much in cash, I could go to the bank and pay extra for a bank cheque (they don’t bounce). Wouldn’t take it
I’m on my 4th Mini (second F56) and I can’t complain, the interior is excellent and it’s so fun to drive (yes the boot is small that’s why I still have the jag, also just lower your rear seats people)
sorry boys, I work for a car auction company and in the ten years ive been there i have yet to drive a mini that hasnt got at least one annoying problem. A rattle, a squeak, poor steering etc etc. They just dont seem that well built. And they are not minis, they are BMW zero series. OK, rant over, great content as ever.
I had a 2007 Cooper S JCW auto (the auto being pretty rare I think) in red with white wheels, roof and mirrors with the rally style front fog lights. It had 140k on it when I sold it and honestly still regret it! The wife has just bought a 2019 Sport Hatch 1.5 and its bloody lovely to drive.
I just got a Mini myself, 2012 Cooper Convertible, bought it in December, the alternator died in January, got it fixed by the end of February. Still love the Mini, it's an awesome car.
We can pay with cash if we want to but I wouldn't want to pay that much in cash myself. I wouldn't want to have to look after that much in cash. I can't put a bank transfer down somewhere and forget where I put it.
66 plate and later, DS3 [nothing to do with shitroen, as DS stand alone now] 1.6 Diesel, it uses ad blue so is ULEZ compliant, goes like a rocket, 65 - 70 mpg, get the 'Prestige' and you have all the toys. Try one.
Just some info about the new 1.5 turbo minis. They are not the most reliable. The 2.0 turbo is more reliable. Just something you might want to take in when getting the latest minis.
I miss our 2017 clubman cooper s! Popped and banged in sport and handled great gearbox is lovely. Now got a 1.5 tsi leon fr black edition estate and now looking at either a cupra leon estate 310 or focus st mk4 estate 2.3
Bought my 3 series coupe from BJH nearly 9 years ago at their "cheap cars" site, they've been around forever! They get a lot of stock from the BMW/Mini dealership for trade-ins that are on the more Alex side of life but not particularly shit, so you usually get nice examples.
after being fucked around by constant scammers whilst trying to sell a car as a private seller, i totally get the cash only guy. None of this brothers cousins paypal credit bollocks. Put the cash in my hand and drive it away. Job Done.
I remember recently reading a review about some guy in Australia that bought an old 90s ford falcon. He said, I noticed it had some wheel bearing noise, but I managed to fix that ,by turning up the volume on the stereo.😁
I'm not fazed about the cash, even at 15k I'm not bothered when people ask for that. I am clean on it on my end, that's all that matters. Also I hate it when people haggle over the phone, then stop by and try get even more off. I don't deal with those people. Congratz about the MINI Clubman. that is the best handling MINI of the Fxx generation, in my eyes. And yes I have driven them all (work at the Dutch plant).
Up grade the standard (terrible) stereo. No bass boxes in the boot, just nice system with component speaker in the original locations and an amp. Keep it looking standard, maybe preserve the original head unit. Taylor would love it
My father drives a racing green one with the same engine, but with the ZF8. I kind of hoped you will purchase my choice (Manual Giulietta 1.4TB), but this one is interesting too. Enjoy it!
Brilliant 👍🏼. Hope she enjoys it. I had the F56 with the same engine and it’s decent and agree with Taylor it doesn’t feel like a 3 cylinder, it’s much more refined than a ecoboost and the interior pisses all over the other Mini’s that went before in terms of quality. Make sure the brakes are in good condition mine lost control, jumped a pavement on the opposite side of the road and ended up in someone’s garden and I found down the road the disc had snapped, it had 4000 miles on the clock and was on loan from BMW 😂
I love that spec, very understated and clean, feel like the Mini's tend to stand out more and be in red or green or blue or what ever and thats nice but, yeah, a clean under the radar car... boring but somehow appealing at the same time! Lucky lady! Hope it will serve her for many many many miles! :) And the barndoors are cool!
Alex, I know of a jaguar XK8 4.0 in blue. Exactly the same as Tina that Tavarish “took” to Germany. It’s going extremely cheap and I think it would make a great project/series for your channel as a tribute to Tina!

Next time with costumes :D
That caught me of guard 😂😂😂
you lads are having waaaay too much fun,,,and I Love it,,keep up the good work
I bought a van last year from a dealership for £8k and they said it would have to go through their “99 point inspection, service and MOT” before I would be able to pick it up.

Must be knew here 😂 this has been a ongoing joke w these guys for some time now
great purchase - I just helped my parents find a 2021 Clubman Cooper and we are all very impressed with it, as well.
The wheel bearing dealership bit was pure gold
Can you and Taylor make a video on what you check when buying a car? It would be great to see what you guys look for when purchasing a car so I can do the same
Omfg the way u said calne .. all the Wiltshire people have just died laughing I've never heard anyone mess it up that bad
😂
for sure
I'm dying, never heard it pronounced that way 😂
Rory making it sound like a small Italian town 😂
😂
Would love to see Clubman updates. My Clubman Diesel Cooper (Chilli Pack), the barn doors open if you swipe your foot under the centre of the bumper. Two swipes, opens both. Awesome if you are carrying something with no free hands.
Such a joy watching this one - because it feels genuine and down to earth!
Had one of those as a courtesy car once. The main disappointment for me was the line down the rear doors in viewing from the rear view mirror. It basically blanks out the road behind you. Can't really check who's behind you before you enjoy the open road
I could hear the chain rattling from here when you started it 😂
Fuel injector noise. These new bmw engines don’t have chain rattle problems like the Peugeot engines.
Yea sure wouldn't mind seeing it on the v2 channel
Love a good mini! the key has a button for the boot it should open the right door if you keep hold of the button. Once that’s open if you hold the button again it’ll open the left door
In Germany it's actually still very common to pay in cash. Even 50k sometimes. 😂
Nur Bares ist Wahres! 👌
This isn't Germany tho, bank transfer is literally the same thing 😂
I know right, even other parts of EU, i paid 15K€ on hand.
Same in the US, if you're buying a used car
They'll be buying it against one of their various "businesses" though.
16:42 Alex amazed by a car that’s not rusty 😅
Alex amazed by bmw covering the bottom with plastic so the rust can't be seen.
Knowing that Alex and Taylor agree that Mini’s are good has made me happy because a Mini Cooper is my dream car that I can’t afford at the moment (mainly,y the insurance ) but hopefully will be able to in the future
Only problem is minis are full of plastic engine parts that fail regularly! Seems to be a common problem with BMW group cars!
It's a Nissan/Renault problem too. They can't save that much money by doing it.
General car problem. Vag, Ford, all of them
Not a problem on Japanese cars except Nissan which is just Japanese for Renault these days
Japanese cars are over rated that’s why you hardly see any on UK roads compared to European car manufacturers
@@Jhonjhonray the reason you don't notice them is because they're not stopped on the hard shoulder.
Congrats ! Really good choice. I've got Clubman 2l D, 2017, manual. For 2 adults 3 children enough. We done 3 times by 3k each trip in europe. no problem at all.
She deserves the world for putting up with you Alex.
I love these minis, this probably won’t get seen but if Masie is going to travel in the boot of the mini, where the rear seat backs mount to the car, there is a bracket you can lift up and click the seats into that changes them into a more upright position to give more space in the boot.
We need to see the wife’s reaction and first impressions
agreed
I have a Discovery 1 with the side opening rear door. The Mini probably isn't too bad with two doors vs one on the Landy but you do learn quickly that in car parks you shouldn't drive through one to park in the one opposite when they are arranged back to bac (so you're facing nose out of the space) because someone will fill the space behind you leaving no room to open the door!
Only 3 minutes in but I think the Alfa Guilietta would be a good shout for something like this
I'm sure Alex likes his wife, and wouldn't want her car breaking down more often than Kanye West.
Good joke or you know nothing about cars
@@jjb4531whats wrong with the guilietta? my mum had one and it was fine
@@jjb4531 Go on then, what's wrong with Guliettas?

As someone who's paid 10k+ usd cash for a car multiple times, you mentioning that certainly threw me for a loop. That's pretty normal in the states.
"It's a manual? Buy it, please!" She's a keeper, Alex!
its so wholesome to hear alex talk about his wife so positively and so often
My 74 year old mum drives a 2019 cooper S hatch auto, and it’s awesome. 196hp 2.0 twin turbo in a tiny car is so much fun
UP!
More Patrick and Derek please! Superb!
Yeah.. inspecting old dodgy BMW 🤣
I had a 2017 JCW Cooper, thing blew my mind every single journey, love the interior, the sound was amazing, loved it, sold it because we had a kid
Heated seats, manual, looks nice...buy it please...it IS Alex' wife.
We definitely need that update and Wife’s reaction on the car! Amazing purchase lads, fun episode and distractor as always!
My wife! *Borat accent* gets me every time
The newer minis are very decent cars, iv had a f56 cooper s that did 60,000 in my ownership and only needed one wheel bearing, iv seen plenty of 1.5 petrol turbos with over 200,000km on them too and still drive very good, front number plate plastic panel is known to fade in the sun and the door shuts at least on the hatchs the rubber door seal use to wear the paint away but that was a warranty recall, hold the switch down on the roof above mirrior and the colours on the centre dash go into party mode and keep changing, also a wheel bearing is 100quid off neobros
If alex doesn’t have ADHD I’d be very very shocked!! lol

I don’t understand why people insist on cash. I was speaking to someone who said they’d go down to $26,000 AUD, but had to be cash. I don’t want to carry that much in cash, I could go to the bank and pay extra for a bank cheque (they don’t bounce). Wouldn’t take it
The most middle class car ever!😂
I also just picked up an F40 1 series with the same engine! It also has a wheel bearing issue as well! thanks for the mini DIY Guide!
It’s always a good day when alex uploads 🚗
I’m on my 4th Mini (second F56) and I can’t complain, the interior is excellent and it’s so fun to drive (yes the boot is small that’s why I still have the jag, also just lower your rear seats people)
5:18 😂😂, who likes the tax man anyway
I had a guy turn up to buy my car with £8.5k in cash, I was like right let's go deposit that in the bank and then we'll transfer ownership yeah?
Nigel and Derek was the funniest shit you guys have done. So ridiculous I can't stop laughing.
sorry boys, I work for a car auction company and in the ten years ive been there i have yet to drive a mini that hasnt got at least one annoying problem. A rattle, a squeak, poor steering etc etc. They just dont seem that well built. And they are not minis, they are BMW zero series. OK, rant over, great content as ever.
Taylor working his big tool always makes me happy! Thank you for the content guys!
hes so hot
£10,000 for the wife? Naahh😅
Bit much innit
some people will put that into a wedding ring alone, rather buy a car and take it to the ring haha
@@Dsw009
I paid less for my wife :))))
10k only poor lass
Cheapskate why not
I had a 2007 Cooper S JCW auto (the auto being pretty rare I think) in red with white wheels, roof and mirrors with the rally style front fog lights. It had 140k on it when I sold it and honestly still regret it! The wife has just bought a 2019 Sport Hatch 1.5 and its bloody lovely to drive.
I’m not buying a boring car buys a boring car 😂
Exactly what I thought like saying q3 is boring is crazy 😂😂😂 mini is just boring version of bmw
We have a 2018 clubman, you can also wave your leg under the bumper to open the boot. Think it needs the comfort access pack to do it
Jeez, not another beemer, USE YOUR IMAGINATION!
Was thinking the same thing
I just got a Mini myself, 2012 Cooper Convertible, bought it in December, the alternator died in January, got it fixed by the end of February. Still love the Mini, it's an awesome car.
England is in a pretty bad state if you can't pay someone under $10k in cash
Bank transfer is free & instant, can't see why either party would want the additional steps of paying in cash
The bank probably wouldn't even let you have £10k in cash.
We can pay with cash if we want to but I wouldn't want to pay that much in cash myself. I wouldn't want to have to look after that much in cash.
I can't put a bank transfer down somewhere and forget where I put it.
@@mr.d5314 for me that amount of cash would be life changing if something happened to it.
66 plate and later, DS3 [nothing to do with shitroen, as DS stand alone now] 1.6 Diesel, it uses ad blue so is ULEZ compliant, goes like a rocket, 65 - 70 mpg, get the 'Prestige' and you have all the toys. Try one.
Used to love my R55 Clubman Cooper D, and the struts on the barn doors are easily replaced.
I've had my Clubman Cooper S for 3 years and it's been the best all rounder I've owned. Maiwiiiife will love it
after being fucked around by constant scammers whilst trying to sell a car as a private seller, i totally get the cash only guy. None of this brothers cousins paypal credit bollocks. Put the cash in my hand and drive it away. Job Done.
I had a Cooper S version and it was one of the best cars I have had. Very underrated car.
14:05 the rear brake lights aren't working, those little ones are the fail safe lights when the main ones on the doors aren't working
I remember recently reading a review about some guy in Australia that bought an old 90s ford falcon. He said, I noticed it had some wheel bearing noise, but I managed to fix that ,by turning up the volume on the stereo.😁
Lovely motors F54s and melting silver too quite a few options I see too 👌 Roof rails quite a rear wee option and the cross punch leather
Idk if it’s just the hatches but if you put them in sport mode and put the window down you can hear a lovely turbo flutter as my 21 plate 1.5 did
I'm not fazed about the cash, even at 15k I'm not bothered when people ask for that.
Great videos... But does the Mini have Comfort Access?? You can open the boot with your foot under the the rear bumper..
Enjoy it!
Good solid and fun car, my Dad had a 2016 cooper clubman with the JCW pack. Didn't half require some maintenence though...
Recently got a Mini Cooper 2016 and I absolutely love it ! hope she likes her Clubman !
I love that spec, very understated and clean, feel like the Mini's tend to stand out more and be in red or green or blue or what ever and thats nice but, yeah, a clean under the radar car... boring but somehow appealing at the same time! Lucky lady! Hope it will serve her for many many many miles! :)
And the barndoors are cool!
pure gold dealership comedy, love it!
Loved my clubman too, try holding the button in the key for boot release and it opens automatically
Alex, I know of a jaguar XK8 4.0 in blue. Exactly the same as Tina that Tavarish “took” to Germany.
It’s going extremely cheap and I think it would make a great project/series for your channel as a tribute to Tina!
Alex your Mrs came across super-cool - 'this, that; buy it please' ❤ love it.
Yes to an update video. Medal for production quality.
Love you boys, and really love watching your antics. #bestyoutubechannel
I've had a rough car losses week so was looking forward to watching your latest video... only to see you buy almost the exact lovely car that my wife insisted on selling to buy an evoque just because she fancied one... only for said evoque to cost me over £3k in 6 months before I convinced her to get rid and it went at another loss today.
You're supposed to make me feel better about my bad car choices 😂
Great video as per usual.. funniest channel out there!!! Did Taylor know you had a wife Alex before you recorded this, as he looked a bit gutted when you said who you were buying the car for???
I had the first BMW Mini Clubman S which was decent to drive but had the stupid suicide door idea. I would have gone with latest Clubman had it been big enough for our family. Went Countryman S in the end. Great fun
