CHINA Sent Me the WRONG ELECTRIC SPORTBIKE (and Don't Really Care)

  • After WEEKS of searching to get this Chinese Electric Sportbike to be the specs it should be, this is where I'm at - Ordering an electric motorcycle from China is cool and all, but it's turning into a time-pit and I got half of what I paid for. Feeling like a full-on scam now. I bought this chinese motorcycle on Alibaba.com for $1500 + Shipping costs and import tariffs, powered by a "5000W" electric motor and a 72V "Lithium Ion" battery. Actually received a 3000W motor and mystery batteries.
THE SELLER CHANGED HIS COMPANY NAME TO "Wuxi Jose Vehicles Co., Ltd" ...Avoid them like the plague.
The link to the bike and all the information is in this video:
    • How I Bought an ELECTR...
BUT, if you're considering buying one like this, watch the whole video. It is very hard to get one of these and you may not get what you pay for.

Alright dude, this is what you need to do. In Cuba people have been able to upgrade their e-bikes by doing one of two things: OPTION 1: getting a control box (like the one you were trying to connect) which performs for a HIGHER voltage motor. i.e: your e-bike have a 72V motor. What you need to do is to get a controller box developed for higher voltages motor. Or, OPTION 2: You get a lower voltage motor (and this is the most common way to upgrade your e-bike in Cuba) i.e. Your motor is 72V so your controller box. In that case what you need to do is to get a 60V motor and let your controller box (nothing bad is going to happen) By doing it people in Cuba have been able to reach speeds from 80 to 120 Km/h. Also those e-bikes have another problem: their practical range. How far could you get with that one? I bet you never far away than 70 Km. Well, in that case what you need to do is to get another battery and make a connection so you can ADD the current of both batteries. Those batteries commonly are of 72V/20Ah, 72V/30Ah, 72V/35Ah, 72V/45Ah. I bet yours is 72V/20 or 35Ah (with 35Ah your range goes up to almost 100 Km.) So what you need to do is to get a 45Ah battery to increase the range. Any other question don't hesitate to get in touch. Good luck with that e-bike!!

And then go back to sell to you as the normal price or more expensive. This is your business fault, not Chinese product fault. Because the best products usually are also from China, such as iPhone or others. On the other hand, many country's company like to produce goods in China. And then only use himself brand. I couldn't use the charger as it 100% didn't work, which I very well demonstrated on video....so even if this guy has all of this on video demonstrating that it's faulty, they might not care. Not to mention the cost of shipping it back would make him actually lose money. Most of the time they will say that “ will return purchase price when they receive returned product” knowing full well you won’t send it. If you do send it back for whatever reason, it’ll just get “lost in shipping”. Best advice is to make sure you don’t spend too much on anything from China. You rarely get what they advertise and returns or refunds are out of the question.

I know that limiters come as a nikel-copper alloy current shunt of wich a microcontroller reads a voltage drop and reduces the pwm duty cycle, per phase, accordingly.
Also I know that windows virtual serial ports come out with stupid numerotations when a cp28xx (or similar) interface is plugged.
Also, some microcontrollers, mostly due to the software running, enable eeprom or flash programming only in certain situations, like at boot or when the rts/cts serial pins are waved. :)
Fortunately, ebikes are a bit more than plugging or unplugging a cable to unleash the deamon... or something.

I agree with others in using a older computer for the serial port. had the same kind of problems with milling machine i made. it didn't like the USB adapter. A older desk top computer helped but not a older laptop for some reason. I didn't notice if the power was on with the bike when you tried to connect. Hey give us the contact info. Maybe if enough of us contact him, and say we were interested until we saw what happened to you, he will make it right.

It's in the "How I Bought" video. I'm funneling people to that video because I explain everything about buying one of these in detail and make sure you know the consequences and my experience ordering it. ☕

I didn't see you mention whether power on is needed when trying to run firmware update. Also, there should be a way to convert your display from Kph to Mph.

Change the Sport wire with the reverse wire & see if that wire get you more speed. Make sure to test the polarity & signal first to make sure that they are both positive. Also to make sure that the speed wire IS the speed wire & that the reverse wire IS reverse.

The controller sends serial data using a RS485 protocol, NOT CANBUS. Use a RS485 to USB cable, download CH341SER driver, see which COM port got assigned to it by the computer (check in device manager), enter that COM port into the software and then it work.

I was just thinking that, too. also it looks like he used the left brake to stop the rear wheel before he used the right brake.
