      That's because it's an e-bike, a pedal bike with a motor. It's not an electric motorcycle. Why? You don't need a license or insurance etc. It's just a standard pedal bike. Despite this, they can usually do more than double that speed. They're simply limited to comply with regulations.

    Price and range are the main concerns for me. Top speed doesn't have to be massive- I don't want to exceed the speed limit on a bike. If it maxes out at 65 or 70 I'm good, I just want to be able to cruise comfortably at 45 or 55 most of the time while having the capability to go a little faster if need be. The range needs to be over 100 miles for sure, 200 would be the long term goal, and the price needs to be less than 10k in order to interest me. I could go with less speed and range up to a point if the price is more like 5k. If you look at something like the Harley electric bike, that is a well put together machine that already has the type of performance I'm looking for- but I won't spend 30k on it. No way. It's coming along though, and at some point there's going to be a breakthrough model that performs well and is priced within the range that I'm willing to pay.

    If you're going 20 mph on an electric bike, why not just get one if those pedal bikes with an electric motor strapped on? Cheaper and more suited to the laws and environment of cities. What I think the sweet spot is for a real electric motorcycle is $8, 000.00 or less, simple fiberglass body with steel frame, and spend the rest of the budget on the best motor and batteries you can. Cost to produce should be like 2 k or less in materials. And labor costs shouldn't be much as it would simply be spraying out some fiberglass, or even using frn plastic in all reality, and assembling outside parts. There's a guy who made a Plywood electric bike that shows how cheaply and well these things can be done up.

    Lightning motorcycles new 2019 models Strike standard version seems to be the best bang for the buck and is a real highway capable motorcycle with acceptable range and top speed compared to the toys in this list.

    It seems to me that ev should be able to produce speeds in excess of 100mph. I also think that they are too small. They need one designed for larger people with longer battery life.

    A e-bike (bicycle) may be a much better value. You can more range at a cheaper price. You can ride street or bike path. No registration fee. No insurance. No license or license plates. No helmet, you lock it to a bike rack. And you can get away with things on a bicycle (legally) that you can not on motorcycle. Most inexpensive e motorcycles don't go fast
    enough to travel on highways anyway.

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bicycles are limited to 500W of power, otherwise you'd need to get it registered.
