The whole 15 year old Miley dating a 20 year old creeps me out so much. Like Miley was seen as the scandalous one for dating an older guy when he was the one literally grooming her. Even in 2008, the way everyone just let it slide does not sit right with me.
Dating older people seemed cooler around then :/ boy bands and stuff also normalized desiring older men and young girls being unhealthily obsessed w/ them and wanting romantic relationships with older guys because they seemed mature. I'm pretty sure there's a whole entire side with young boys and older women because their bodies were developed & full but idk... It still weirds me out now how no one blinks an eye at that kind of stuff and connect the dots.

I’m 21 and one of my best friends is 16 but we don’t really hang outside of our hobby - we both have horses and they’re stabled next to each other so we are together for hours every day. She’s also got friends older than me from work.
Of course in the entertainment industry you gotta be careful because of the party element which is the main instance that makes this age gap weird, but I don’t see it as instantly weird for every ‘age gap’ friendship. Miley and Mandy probably shouldn’t have been partying together but the fact they were friends when they were literally touring isn’t that odd imo
