I love how entilted they act when taking photos of celebrities doing every day stuff but when the celebrities attack them they whine like little babies StooOoP, ThaT HuRTs MEEe!!😭😭😭
I felt so bad for her. Regardless of drug use or mistakes made or whatever, she looked so vulnerable and didn't have anyone to defend her from the look of it... How many times does someone have to say "please no!" before they're allowed to use whatever means necessary to defend themselves. I know I've taught my daughter than no woman should ever have to say no more than once :-/
for real. had the nerve to act shocked that she wasnt listening when he asked her to stop when that’s exactly what he was doing to her in the first place.
that video where Amanda said "Delete the photos, I need to look beautiful" broke me. I could hear the desperation and pain in her voice. I hope she's doing much better now.
Hearing about what most of the shit that the cast members of all that and the Amanda show suffered from, I feel bad for all of them. I hope they’re all doing better now
So Hollywood takes these girls, takes away their childhood and gives them mental heatlh issues and then makes fun of them when they go through horrid times and struggle with addictions. And we made fun of them and look at them with judgement.
Not saying any of that is okay but Hollywood can take me and ruin my life cause I’m tired of being broke and depressed- let me be their next it girl who they destroy. Rather than let my parents ruin my emotional health let media ruin it lol
@forest rin I’m glad you said you “think” because your opinion means close to nothing. Why rot away poor and a loser? When I can rot away accomplished and actually done something to make people remember me? YOU clock into ur 8-5 work shift at Burger King. It’s fame or nothing for me. Good day and good bye
Can we pls talk about how Amanda asked this paparazzi guy very nicely like 100 times to leave her alone, he continued harassing her and ignoring her please, but then wants to act surprised when she retaliates? He was following her that entire day!
Dude that honestly would drive me insane. I don’t know how ppl contain themselves around those kind of paparazzi. If I was a regular person seeing them harass someone like that regardless if it’s a celeb I’d be like ummm who tf do you think you are? Watching that guy be so dramatic with Amanda gave me the urge to punch him in the throat. Based on that video I truly don’t believe she got violent with him/scratched him like he says she did, you would’ve heard a lot more tumble and rumble with the camera, not just seeing it move around, and also based on the human body and how it reacts she would’ve looked much more disheveled and shaken with adrenaline when she was walking away if she got physical like he said. I think she was just trying to get him to delete the photo and he played the ultimate victim. Paparazzi make me sick sometimes man.
Agree, but you still don't physically attack someone and scratch them. Of course I would be pissed as hell but, violence? Nope. Now if he would've gotten so close to her, then that's another story, I think he kept distance. Justifying her wouldn't have helped her.
@@lizgaby9761 Imagine paparazzi following you around daily almost 24/7, no privacy, no time to yourself, you can’t go out in public looking ugly because then you’ll be bashed for it, ON TOP of struggling with addiction. Violence is not the answer, but we’re human. Come the fuck on. Remember that video of the paparazzi RIGHT OUTSIDE OF KANYES HOUSE AT LEAST 5 AM?? I would’ve shot at them🤷🏽♀️ Also I pls pls, strongly suggest you watch the Free Britney documentary I think on Hulu (It’s NY times so pls search it) These paparazzi actually think it’s FUN to egg on celebrities, because they get more money for disheveled photos than posed and set up ones. I get it’s their job, but they need to make regulations for this shit. It is literally stalking.
When I heard her say, "Please delete that photo, I NEED to look beautiful, that isn't a good shot" my heart dropped :-( it really is crazy to hear someone that you viewed as so confident and care-free as a kid really be so insecure and struggling with body dysmorphia. I have so much love for Amanda and her story!
When I heard that line I decided to scroll to comment. But I think your comment is better than one I could make. The All That royalty “Amanda Please” deserves better than this.
I always asked as a child why these people took photos so constant of celebrities, and all I heard was "it's their job".... like is their job to harrasss??????
"please let go of my camera," "please stop pinching me," "amanda, stop!" "what's wrong with you?" LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER SHE WAS BEGGING HIM TO STOP AND HE DIDN'T
her mom saying she'd never looked better when she lost a ton of weight because of mono......i've been there and it's incredible how remarks like that from family can send you spiraling
After I got out of the hospital for pancreatitis everyone complemented me. I was legit being treated for malnutrition and people were telling me how great I looked. People are so weird.
The way paparazzi made themselves the victims when they were clearly harassing these women and getting way to close even though they kept saying “no” and “stop” is absolutely disgusting.
when that guy victimised himself for getting scratched by her when he was the one harassing her after she repeatedly politely asked him to leave her alone. the way i see it, if someone is literally harassing you, you have a right to defend yourself. even if they didn't make the first physical move, you have a right to your privacy and your personal space, if you need to make physical contact to get them to leave you alone, i think you're within your rights.
I find it crazy that she wasn't cast for more serious roles when I watched her in dramatic, emotional scenes in What I Like About You and What a Girl Wants. She's always been so versatile and wasn't given much opportunity to show it
She publicly screamed for help for SO LONG and no one did anything. No one offered help. She struggled with so many different issues alone but also in the spotlight. I’m so sorry Amanda.
I see someone who has an extreme case of body dysmorphia. Her denying that it’s even her whenever someone takes a picture of her without her knowledge. It’s just extremely sad. It makes me so mad people made fun of her during this time
I was thinking this too!! It really seems like she doesn’t want to be in the public eye, and if she HAS to be then she wants to control how she’s viewed. It makes complete sense why she would be acting this way with the combo of body dysmorphia and substance abuse
I agree, & I think a part of what we’ve seen of her that has appeared as questionable behavior, has been her reverting back to the things that gained her popularity and love and support as a child. Like her wearing eccentric wigs, her saying things that are obviously off-the-wall, etc seems to me like she had some drug-induced mania which led her to trying to get back that love & support from her childhood the public gave her, in some of the same ways. Like the Amanda Show was all her doing & saying wacky off the wall things, so I think she tried being goofy again hoping it would read as funny or wholesome & instead as an adult we the public without context took it as bizarre, sometimes seemingly deranged behavior. I just keep thinking about how she was taught, trained, and paid to behave in a way all throughout her childhood that when she taps into as an adult, just like any regular person going through high stress periods can revert back to their childhood survival skills to cope, it comes across as something else. A lot of people who are addicted to drugs basically function socially the same as they did as children, & you can literally see it in Amanda’s case.
The scene where she’s walking and the pap won’t leave her alone so she lashes out- she was a young woman, on her own, walking down a basically empty street. Anyone would feel intimidated under those circumstances, with or without mental health complications. I felt seriously uncomfortable just watching, I honestly don’t blame her reaction.
“amanda stop” no you stop sir???? if that was me in that position being followed by a man i didn’t know with a camera as a woman with no fame i would have maced him but bc shes famous it was okay ? same thing with many celebs smh.
i know ! those stalkers don’t even respect celebrities privacy whether the person is a man or a woman, i’m actually so sorry for them because i would be in jail for murd*r if someone was harassing me this way
It was seriously gross, he was yelling & degrading her to walk the way he wanted, than abusive once she reached her breaking point as if shoving a camera in her face, screaming at her & stalking her for photos wasnt creepy at all. Im with Halle Berry F the Paparazzi.
I almost forgot how great Amanda is at acting. Teen movies don’t age well but her movies are still hilarious. I hope she can overcome her trauma and selfishly hope she resorts to stand up
im loving the resurgence of 2000s female celebrities who were treated like shit by the media (britney, amanda, lindsey, paris etc) and people finally recognising that they were horrendously mistreated and called 'trainwrecks' to dismiss them. thank you for this video.
The paparazzi video where Amanda is like “I need to look beautiful” is so heartbreaking to me like that is a person with intense body dysmorphia that needs help
Yeah, it hurt to hear the desperation and vulnerability in her voice as she was basically begging the guy not to make her look unattractive. What an absolute douchebag of a pap.
Right? He invades her personal space and privacy and harasses her and we as a society put so much monetary value on those photographs. It was kind of satisfying when she grabbed him and he was all shocked lol
Especially back before there was instagram and other forms of social media. It was absolutely disgusting. One of the good things about social media is that most paparazzi lost their jobs. There really isn't much need for it anymore especially since so many celebrities are on platforms like instagram, twitter, snapchat etc. I feel like what happened to Britney in the early aughts wouldn't have happened if we'd had all this technology back then and I'm 36 so I remember that time period very very well. It was absolutely heartbreaking. 💔
Yesss I’ve always thought the same way! It’s disgusting and still to this very day when they go out of their way to sneak a picture under an actresses skirt, the actress is judged as being a floozy when the paparazzi are clearly just paid creeeps? Make it make sense
Legally she didn't though. I'm surprised to see that nearly all the comments are about her reaction to the paps. Unfortunately; morals; sympathy; and feelings aren't considered in law. Ultimately it's seen as; he had a lawful right to take those photos, she was in public. Whether what he said, although sounding positive imo (could've been sarcastic to provoke a response) was still ultimately all legal. So, grabbing the camera, and then (allegedly) scratching him? No, she didn't have every right? I sympathise with what she was going through and knowing all that, I would wish people would afford her that leeway but here she then had a go at the guy? It's still wrong, still be responsible for your actions, and could even see it as it playing into their favour- he then writes a story about her assaulting him. Surprised at the amount of comments from people justifying her actions because:- 'feelings'
@@gram. he literally ignored her wishes and ignored her privacy. She had every right to push his camera away after asking nicely. Then she scratched him. Self defense because he was invading her privacy.
@@IanKirklandVlogs she didn't have a right, she's in public, he has a legal right to take photos. you may feel that's unfair but the law doesnt care, he was in the right. Def not self defence, again, she's in public, i know the paps are vultures right, but ultimately he done nothing wrong legally. Check self defence yourself, then realise you're wrong. Doesn't justify her attacking him. Basically: britney in public. Pap takes photo. She demands he doesn't. He has the right to take photos. She attacks. Yeah?
@@4079907 shocked at the amount of comments that thought she had a right to do that. I think some paps are vultures, yeah, but it comes with the job yeno? She was in public, he was in the right, just cause she asked him not to isn't an excuse man oof just can't believe the comments on here. She was in the wrong to do that, curb your feels haha.
I am so here for this. Everytime I try to find a video about them its so extremely biased or barely insightful. I think Mila would actually do them both justice ❤
Agreed. Like the video of them at the window while she is driving was insane. Like yeah she shouldn’t have covered her face (duh) but why the fuck do these assholes think it’s okay to stand at her window with bright lights blinding her??? Like they cause accidents and then make money from the photos and videos!!! 🤯
I absolutely HATE that the paparazzi think ANYONE owes them a good shot. Just because they’re celebrities doesn’t mean they aren’t still complete strangers that don’t owe you a damn thing!!!
What's unfortunate is that paparazzi, media and entertainment reporters don't even try to appeal to celebs as real people and ask genuine and perhaps even interesting questions. They literally instigate as hard as possible to provoke a reaction.
Mono is a really serious illness, typically caused by the Epstien-Barr virus. It usually lasts much longer than a week or two... more like 4-6 weeks, and sometimes up to 6 months! I missed almost 7 weeks of school when I had it and almost had to repeat the year. Sometimes I feel like I never fully bounced back (feeling tired all the time). It's a really rough illness and it makes me sad that she was so sick and her mother told her she looked her best. That is pretty terrible parenting. I also wonder if she felt like she needed the adderall because of how tired she felt from the Mono.
I was on my high school competitive dance team & also caught mono. I was SO SICK I was out of school for a month I was so weak & SO TIRED till this day (I was in high school 10 years ago) I still feel chronic fatigue. I need like a minimum of 9-10 hours a sleep a day to actually feel good!
"She's dropped to 100 pounds," "Her mother then told her she'd looked the best she'd ever been" I actually said under my breath "oh no" at that, I saw everything else play in my mind.
Actually people kind of fail to be informed of what parents go through watching their daughters suffer from ED. They are desperate to at least stop ✋ the weight loss. They spend a lot of time insuring their daughters they are beautiful and perfect the way they are hoping to convince them they don’t need to lose weight anymore.
My heart go out to this girl. She was just a baby and in my eyes still is. It's so many famous kids were my aged and they were humiliated publicly while going thru things most of us did. I had things I was ashamed of with just 5000 followers on Facebook.. I couldn't fathom my mistakes and bad days being put on tmz. I would have lost my mind completely as well
YESSS!! Megan was one of the first woman ( if not the first) who said Hollywood for women isnt all flowers and sunshine! She called things out and nobody took her seriously bc she was just a pretty woman, who should just stand there and be pretty!!
It's so sad to hear when she locks herself into public places, she's obviously having a breakdown in those places and doesn't want anyone to know. It makes me sad when she came out saying "I was just doing my makeup".
Amanda was the girl that made it okay to be a goofy funny girl. Where others were more known for their looks (even though they were also talented people), Amanda was actually famous for her comedic talent. While we were all jealous of Lindsey Lohan and the 'Hollywood glamour life'. Even Lindsey herself probably.. Amanda made it okay to be smart, funny, AND beautifull. She showed how much more fun life can be if you dont take yourself too seriously.
It’s so sad that she was having very serious mental health crisis, publicly, and she was exploited rather than helped. She was always my favorite actor and I still have such a soft spot for her.
its scary that parents still force their children into the public eye when the effects of becoming a child star have been evident for year. basically everyone can name at least 3 child stars who have died or have drug dependencies.
@@aidoll3692 Judy Garland also had a tragic background, I can't really watch The Wizard of Oz now. I'm sure there are so many many more actresses who have been failed that we can't name off the top of our heads.
The paparazzi dude Amanda scratched, totally had that shit coming. He’s mad she wouldn’t leave him alone, all while he wouldn’t leave her alone. I have no respect for the paparazzi. He’s literally harassing her and getting mad, when she fights back. The nerve.
Here I am after watch Quiet on set and I’m quite disturbed on wtf these children went through and I was one of those kids that looked up to these people that I thought were cool. SMH everything that glitters isn’t always gold‼️
No one helped her. Where were her friends her colleagues where was support. Clearly we knew her parents weren't supporting her emotionally. Where is her emotional support. People's minds are fragile no one is exempt from this it's a fact of life. God bless.
The sad thing is, if she actually had a support system she may not be where she is now. If her mother actually acted like a mother and never made that stupid comment that confirmed Amanda’s thought that she was only “of value when skinny” then Amanda wouldn’t have gotten into the eating disorder. If she had good friends she wouldn’t have spiraled so much... it’s just so sad that instead of helping her people either judged her or made her feel worse.
I wondered if some of her costars from all that that went on to bigger things checked up on her... But sometimes people make themselves inaccessible, so it's hard to know whether or not anyone tried to support her or whether she pushed them away
it's possible that people tried to help her and she pushed them away. i've had that happen to me before. you can't help someone who won't admit that they have a problem. my uncle is an alcoholic and we tried interventions but he refused to admit that he needed help. he kept lashing out at us, really hurting my mom and his daughters, and eventually ran away. when he finally came back it was of his own accord, after being estranged from his family for years due to his own choices. i feel really bad for amanda, she obviously needed help, but some people actively resist being helped.
I find the comments about conservatorship interesting, have any male stars ever had conservators when they lost the plot? It almost seems like something suggested for women.
You're so right.. And after that thing with Britney Spears.. Nobody should say something like this so easily. Same thing with the paparazzi later: she asked him to stop so often, he wasn't interested in her private space or when she felt uncomfortable, so I can understand her reaction
I read that Brian Wilson and Mickey Rooney were placed under conservatorships, although it was after the abuse in their personal lives - Wilson from his father and doctor and Rooney from one of his wives and stepsons - came to light. And apparently prior to being placed in a conservatorship under his family members, Wilson's doctor manipulated him and controlled all aspects of his life.
Well it’s probably because media doesn’t compare men to women. I mean if Britney wasn’t put in a conservatorship I doubt media would of brought that up.
I love this channel. It's investigative, hilariously witty, and helping to destigmatize mental health. Also all these girls were my idols and I still think about them daily and always hope they're doing well.
as someone who's grown up during that time period having someone call out all the very problematic stuff that has happened that was swept under the carpet is so satisfying
That paparazzi video is so infuriating he’s stood there in her way taking photos even though she asked him to stop getting in her personal space then he starts acting like he’s been shot when she retaliates, a normal person would be annoyed how is being famous any different they need to get proper jobs
that scene where she tried to get the camera broke my heart. she showed clear signs of body dysmorphia and everyone twisted it into vanity/her being crazy. the sad part is she was the one who suffered and the media gets away with doing this to women
The encounter with paparazzi is so similar to an abusive relationship, where the paparazzi believes that he is entitled to photograph Amanda, totally ignores her request. The way he talks to her is just how an abuser would talk to his victim. Absolutely appalling.
I recently came across a lot of Miley's covers, blown away by her ability to be able to fit her voice to any genre. Honestly, used to find her like okay but not amazing. Good but just like any other pop star. Not that there is anything wrong with that but now I really see her talent. I feel like some of her most amazing songs didn't get as much attention. Also, the woman can make a mullet look good, that's talent in itself haha.
She was obviously sleep deprived, delusional, and severely paranoid. Her self image and anxiety was so incredible, add the drugs.... I used to feel this way. Not on that scale, but only probably because Im not famous and under the public eye. I couldnt imagine feeling that way and people constantly criticizing me
The crazy thing I remember was people were literally constantly sharing things on how Amanda was like the gold standard of being a child star who didn’t go “crazy” and then she literally had a bad meltdown right after.
The interaction with the pap frustrated the HELL out of me because she was asking him not to take pics but he wouldn't stop so she had to stop him herself then he kept crying like a big ass child.
@@snoozyq9576 I’m pretty sure there a story somewhere where pap causes someone to nearly drop child. Or just the stress from pap being there hounding them questions

Paparazzis are disgusting. Now that we have tiktok which brought Hollywood fix into the light where grown men follow teenagers or young adult and ask personal questions where they’re literally trying to run away or are scared or frighten by them. The fact that there are laws that allow basically stalking is sad. It’s why so many rumors are going on.
9:20 I had a friend die from mono so I feel compelled to say this: I know this is an "old" video and very few people will see my comment, but I want to clarify something. Despite the nickname, mono has been known to be contagious via airborne spread for nearly 20 years in the medical community. I won't go into details on how it caused me to lose my friend (unless someone asks for details below) but it was not weight loss such as Amanda experienced. To summarize; you can get mono regardless of saliva exchange, and it is something to address and monitor by a professional until *all* symptoms are gone.
@@beccabowen4292 I appreciate you taking the time to read all of that. I can relate to long hospital stays (though most were after I turned 18) however, I can imagine an extra level of awful if you didn't have "a parent or guardian" with you the entire time - the "we'll need to speak with your parents first" is still a common deflection from having to anything beyond the bare minimum. I know this because they still try it on *me* - because I LOOK young (especially in a tent of a hospital gown) but FFS my birthdate is on my wristband, the chart on my bed (which have to pick up an initial to confirm they checked in on me) AND my medical file. ---- Back to the main topic though; even if it was a miserable experience I'm glad that you were able to get the proper diagnosis and the medical treatment that you needed in time.
According to what is online she’s been diagnosed with bipolar. Most likely with the drugs she was inducing manic episodes severe enough to cause psychosis. That would explain a lot of the behavior and also why she was taking drugs in the first place. Many people with bipolar self medicate.
I had mono in highschool but didn't kiss for the first time until I was 20 lol, not sure how I got it but teasing people about how it's a "kissing" disease was really annoying. I'm so sorry about your friend.
For all those employees knew, Amanda could've been having a panic attack or something and they still called the paparazzi. Empathy really isn't people's strong suit
it’s insane that disney and nickelodeon let this happen over and over again. like don’t they see a problem with their own working conditions if this has happened countless times. smh
I always noticed something off about her even when she was a child. My friends all loved seeing her on tv but I always thought it was strange that she acted crazy hyper on every show. It didn't seem normal. There was an underlying issue that everyone ignored. Even during interviews in her early years, she was always jittery and doesn't seem all there. I think she has always struggled with mental issues even as a child and she reached her breaking point as an adult. It's so sad that adults in her life failed her because they were too busy making $$$
all disney kids acted like that and all of them went trhough pshycologic traumas. because they are turned into a product. forced . and probably abused.

It saddens me that Amanda was so insecure about her looks and how she felt pigeonholed into being the funny girl. I Always thought and still think she’s so stunning. She’s so gorgeous and her comedic personality is wonderful. Growing up watching her I would dream about being just like her. I wanted to be pretty and funny. All of the glitzy pretty girls of the time were so blah to me. I looked up to Amanda so very much.
Right! As a kid I wanted to pursue comedy, well it’s always been like that dream that I’ve never really pursued because.. life lol but like I always wanted to be like Amanda. She could make people laugh, hold a crowd, AND maintain a wholesomeness about her. It was so admirable. I loved Lindsay Lohan too, don’t get me wrong, but I was a kid so Amanda was more my speed at the time. I wish people like them and Britney Spears, Paris Hilton (just watched her doc and it’s heartbreaking) the list goes on, could see themselves through our eyes. Hell for that matter, I wish we could all look at ourselves through someone else’s eyes.✨
Ok I usually can't watch these types of things on TH-cam bc I get bored and I'll just forward to the good parts. This girl has kept me watching! You're a great story teller!
We need to start calling these people out for dating actual children. A 24 year old with a 17 year old? That kind of relationship can be so damaging both in the moment and down the line.
Agreed.. but sadly if you look it up the law in many states puts age 16 or 17 at age of consent. 18 is not a national law. It differs from state to state.
@Number Nine they contradicted their points. On one comment they said that “people could be more or less mature at 18” and then on another they said that “so are 18 year olds! 18 year olds are still kids”
Matt Prokop literally abused Sarah to the extent that she got a restraining order that was made permanent against him, I know damn well he isn’t talking
"her bathroom is full of makeup, hair extensions, beauty tools, beauty products; her apartment was a mess. There was weed everywhere." And if that isn't most of the girls I know, then idfk.

This is so common. Girl loses weight in unhealthy way, and gets feedback that they look amazing, which in turn makes us think how we never looked good when we felt healthier
I seriously can’t believe the abuse these poor girls have gone through- not just by producers and whatnot but the media, paparazzi and every normal joe out there. And instead of seeing these as signs of poor mental health and someone that needs help, we thrived off of calling them crazy bitches.
They aren't innocent either. Dont get me wrong I hate paparazzi and the media (though I think it's weird you blame normal people lol) but why do these celebs get a pass for shit like drinking and driving? @@watermelon520b when did she claim they were? my parents said the same thing and it’s sad knowing that instead of having empathy and trying to understand what someone’s going through, people just blow it off as them “going crazy” it doesn’t take a psychologist to have human compassion

is it bad that i literally never care when celebrities hurt and/or are rude to paparazzi. like they got that big ass camera in my face and i'm feeling like an ogre that day... imma wanna smash that camera too TF
Fr, I would get so mad when they would yell unnecessary shit to the celebrities and when they wouldn't stop taking pictures of them after they said stop. I will never understand on how the celebrities didn't attack them.
The way I relate to her so much.... I developed phychosis in my mid teens from systematic drug use and lost 20 kilos. Now I can't imagine the amount of anger and disoriention she felt while being famous at the same time.
It was clear that this woman was going through mental health issues right away....whatever triggered it and whatever she went through in life she needed help and NOBODY was there for her not even her parents in fact her mom was a contributor to her eating disorder and was probably the reason why she had it in the first place ... it so fucked. I grew up watching her on the Amanda show and even on what I like about you I watched all of her movies ... I was the biggest fan,, to see somebody that I love and genuinely looked up to end up spiraling due to lack of help and resources makes me just sick.. I could relate with her on a lot of topics and it’s sad that everybody makes Amanda out to be some animal,- but how do you think they would feel if they were in the same position she was... I honestly hope that soon Amanda gets help and people wake the fuck up and start treating this woman like a normal person and not like some animal because this woman is long overdue with the help that she deserves people should have been giving her that and giving her respect. bro CELEBRITIES were disrespecting her on Twitter. THE SAME WHO PREACH MENTAL HEALTH NOW AND DAYS! ...and didn’t people think by the tweets that she was sending out- the videos-and the way that she LOOKED, that this woman was not coherent?? didn’t people stop to think let me check on her and be real abt it?
@@bigblunts3577 People romanticize mental health issues and EDs and make it seem all pretty and cute. When I was acting like every character from skins people were like ohh she's mysterious, I can fix her and shit. When the real stuff hit and I started spiraling everyone abandoned me and I had to pick myself up. I wish she had someone, all eyes were on her, no genuine people around her or even a moment to herself to self reflect with all the paparazzi. If you abuse drugs non stop you are not yourself and I think the fact she can afford to forever have a stash will tempt her forever. I don't know how she is now and I haven't heard about her in forever which I guess is a good thing for her peace of mind. She deserved so much better...
i’m in no way insulting her appearance when i say this but i would speculate part of the way her face looked at her worst point was probably due to eating disordered behaviours, most notably purging. sure she always had a cute heart shaped face as a kid but at the time when she started using adderal for weight loss her cheeks started to look puffier than they hand been, which is a symptom a lot of people who purge their food experience. I know when I was really bad with an ed i was so self conscious about my “chubby face” (i’d always had a heart shaped face too like amanda) and when i lost weight I couldn’t figure out why my face still looked so “chubby”, only for em later to realise all the self induced vomiting i was doing basically every day had swollen glands in my cheek which would puff out my face. My heart absolutely breaks for amanda, i’ve been through a lot of what she has but thankfully not in the public eye, I have no idea how she managed to keep it together.
I constantly get nostalgic for the 00s but this video reminds me how horrible media was to young girls back then. My eating disorder started in 2005ish and although it's cliche, it was definitely fueled by the conversation around Amanda, Lindsay, and other teen stars. When you are introduced to these starlets that are in roles meant to make you relate to them, you can't help but apply the criticism to yourself. Fantastic series, you're very well-spoken and well-researched.

So Hollywood takes these girls, takes away their childhood and gives them mental heatlh issues and then makes fun of them when they go through horrid times and struggle with addictions. And we made fun of them and look at them with judgement.
Yes because we have to feel superior because we are still mammals with no empathy.
Lets keep on doing it I guess?

Watching that guy be so dramatic with Amanda gave me the urge to punch him in the throat. Based on that video I truly don’t believe she got violent with him/scratched him like he says she did, you would’ve heard a lot more tumble and rumble with the camera, not just seeing it move around, and also based on the human body and how it reacts she would’ve looked much more disheveled and shaken with adrenaline when she was walking away if she got physical like he said. I feel so sad for her
bc so many people only care about themselves nowadays, it’s gross
I responded to her on Twitter and prayed for her. It was very frustrating and hurtful to watch.
There were a lot of people who reached out to her in concern.
Yeah, it's insanely sad. I don't understand how no one saw how wrong it was and how no one helped her...

So, grabbing the camera, and then (allegedly) scratching him? No, she didn't have every right?
I sympathise with what she was going through and knowing all that, I would wish people would afford her that leeway but here she then had a go at the guy?
Da fuc was her agent doing. Why do they even get paid, editors of novelists are more supportive than these people
it's possible that people tried to help her and she pushed them away. i've had that happen to me before. you can't help someone who won't admit that they have a problem. my uncle is an alcoholic and we tried interventions but he refused to admit that he needed help. he kept lashing out at us, really hurting my mom and his daughters, and eventually ran away. when he finally came back it was of his own accord, after being estranged from his family for years due to his own choices. i feel really bad for amanda, she obviously needed help, but some people actively resist being helped.

Several men in the 70s/80s were put under conservatorship actually... There's most definitely more if you look into it yourself

Yeah, i got it at 14 and was hospitalised for 2 weeks , it was awful
----
Back to the main topic though; even if it was a miserable experience I'm glad that you were able to get the proper diagnosis and the medical treatment that you needed in time.
They have connected it to autoimmune diseases like Multiple Sclerosis. It’s a virus from hell.
I'm so sorry about your friend.

it’s insane that disney and nickelodeon let this happen over and over again. like don’t they see a problem with their own working conditions if this has happened countless times. smh
seriously. There NEEDS to be something in place to prevent that and to help those girls. Clearly, no one else in the industry wants to help them.
They do see it. That’s why it continues

The “I have to look beautiful” killed me it so sad
i’m in no way insulting her appearance when i say this but i would speculate part of the way her face looked at her worst point was probably due to eating disordered behaviours, most notably purging. sure she always had a cute heart shaped face as a kid but at the time when she started using adderal for weight loss her cheeks started to look puffier than they hand been, which is a symptom a lot of people who purge their food experience.
Apparently she didn’t :/
I constantly get nostalgic for the 00s but this video reminds me how horrible media was to young girls back then. My eating disorder started in 2005ish and although it's cliche, it was definitely fueled by the conversation around Amanda, Lindsay, and other teen stars.
