That S2K makes around 240hp stock from the factory. Considering it’s more or less than 10 years old already, this thing loses only 10 hp is really great

Considering an average drivetrain loss of 10-15%, this is more powerful than factory.
Thats around 270bhp at the crank. Which is impressive for just ECU and exhaust upgrade. Intake mod like the ITB setup will bring out the top end performance.
itb is nice but its also a tuning nightmare. just look at all the problems that the guys over at speed academy have had with theirs.
some19872003 the AEM stand alone ECU should allow more finer control of the AF mix and timings. I have friends who ran the ITBs on the B16 and B18 with zero issues other than noise and low end driviability.

If you dont have an intake on your car i would suggest trying that out too. it does free up a few more HP. On my 02 ap1 I have a titanium exhaust on my car with a test pipe (no emissions in my state :D) and i know i can pull a little bit on a stock ap2. I also have 206k miles on my engine. also be careful with the timing chain tensioner that its in good condition since oem ones are crap.

Thecrazyheadphoneguy Manufacturers rarely list their rated power at the wheels. The 240hp figure is crank horsepower. And the F22C in the AP2 S2000 doesn't rev to 9000 due to the increase in stroke. The AP1 F20C can, though.

Thecrazyheadphoneguy No worries. 👍 Easy way to tell the AP1 and AP2 is the front bumper. The AP2 has those "teeth" in the main air dam in the front, whereas the AP1 has just a regular opening. I think I remember hearing that there's overlap between the redesign and the use of the F20C in other markets, but in the US all the facelifted (AP2) cars have the F22.

What kind of 3" exhaust does this car have? Is it a custom-made exhaust or off the shelf like Berk or something?
If you are asking performance wise, it's a bit irrelevant, diameter is what matters and maybe material. If it's for sound, well you have to pm him.
It's an Origin Fabrication 3 inch exhaust.

CEL stay on and does OBD-II work for CA Emissions?
Just swap back to the stock ecu a week before you take it for emissions. Just be sure to put some miles on it for emissions reasons with the computer and your good. Unless your going turbo then you'll have other problems

don't worry about the engine being stock. you don't touch this engine under 600hp. s2k stock header is hard to beat. most 1k header only gain 1to 5 HP but they are great for weight saving. I own a 400whp supercharged s2k , stock engine, stock exhaust , stock header. remember this engine is practically forged internal from factory

Cameron Mcneill See that ginormous fan in front of it? Remember its a rolling road so it doesnt have all this air being pushed into the motor etc. So they want maximum air flow into the motor so it doesnt overheat. And of course the more air the better for the motor to gain hp
